First of all, hey there guys, im Xtreme, call me X!

I have been watching forums for a while - and am also an experienced droks runner, and w/mo farmer (my first and favourite player). I figured i'd pop in and say hello and also address an idea with you guys. Loving the builds btw -- some great contributions and debates

Right, I have been doing the droks run for a while, and it has been my main source of income, ever since my necro / 55 combo uw farm got boring. As many of you know, the price for a normal run (solo) is usually 2k, with 1k paid at snake dance, and 1k at camp rankor.....well its what I do anyway.

Anet has nerfed the run soooo many times since i started, only about 2 months ago, yet the price doesnt change? Why? Surely after adding more imps/sieges, and making the spawns worse and worse, we deserve more than 2k per person? YET some people continue to lower them. I saw someone offering a run for 500g each, which sickens me, as everyone flocks to the cheapest deal. Couldnt everyone just settle on 2-3k?

I propose, 3k for a solo run and 4k for a duo run. Might sound a bit steep, but thats the price for 30 minutes of my time on a run that can go wrong a lot of times. Sure, im used to the spawns, i can outrun a few nooby worms, but i still only get 2k.

I dont think its worth it, and PLEASE fellow runners keep your prices at 2k and above, or my customers.....leave lol.

Any ideas appreciated, and hey community.

Well, I only do runs for fun or for friends. I don't charge anything, because unlike others, I don't guarantee the run. I have about 45% success rate on many runs, except Droks, where I have a 0% sucess rate.

I understand where you are coming from, but its a supply and demand market. If people are lazy or have more money then intellect, they will pay for runs. There are noobs who don't know where Droks is, nor how to get there. They think it is some hard to get, out of the way, secret city that they would never get on their own (people who are new to the game).

However, if you are offering Drok run training, I know a guy who is very interested. He thinks I have great characters and wants me to teach him how to do runs. I'd be happy to introduce you to him if you are willing to train (he is very low on cash though). I'd teach him, but since my success is below sub-par, it'd be useless for me to do so. I'd rather have him learn from a pro.

I think the price should go up for Drok runs, each time it gets harder, the price goes up. That way, people who choose the cheap way, should get to as far as 1/2 way down Lorna's Reach, then get crushed.

Experts should indeed charge more as runs get harder and harder. That way, only the desparate with money can get runs. Others must actually play the story line the way it was ment to.

I hate seeing level 5s in Thunderhead Keep.

Yes, this completely frustrates me. But no one in GW will actually follow the prices that are set because;

1) How are you going to tell... many people?

2) How do you know they will cooperate?

3) How many people do you think will swear at you?

4) How many people do you think will ignore you?

BTW, I've seen screenshots of a lvl 1 guy at thr ring of fire mission, which is the furthest you can possibly be at lvl 1.

But surely that isnt possible? Have to complete thk mission first which is 1000 exp = automatic level up to 2?

And i dont plan on telling loads of people, im just suggesting maybe the price needs to be raised the harder they make the run.

in the begining running droks as R/W was pretty easy, now however....
why should i run droks for 10k max! if i can make the same amount in a 15 minuts run

Agreed X, i used to run it loads of times but i got bored of that a long time ago. And btw, that guy who would do it for 500g was most likely dead at the first group of Imps

Well...

Drok runs were once very profitable. I used to charge 3/4k per person and fill a party in a a few mins.

However, people started to realise that 15k for 25 mins work is very good so started trying it also. What happened was people who could barely do the run were trying it just for the chance of succeeding and getting the gold. This led to people charging less and less to get people quicker.

Even at 2k per person that is 10k for 25 minutes. So 20k per hour. Beats farming trolls or minos.

Problem is every wammo it seems is spamming there trying to get a group together. And alot are terrible.

Noone will charge more again. I used to get around 100k for a few hours of doing drok runs. I gave up due to the difficulty in getting customers and the low prices.

4) and how many already do? i've ran droks plenty of times with my ranger. ill go to beacons, feel out the situation and after seeing the same people spam running to droks for 2k, ill say 'running to droks for tips - first and only call' and that first call is all i need. you already have people ignoring you incase you havent noticed, they just look for a tips run and hope that they do well. luckily for the 14 some groups i've done it for, i've only died once on my first run.

personally i think 2k is reasonable, but if you can reliably run droks at 4k or whatever you decide to do, go for it.

and on a side note, you cant get to RoF at lvl 1, im pretty sure its been figured out that the lowest you can be at RoF is lvl 3.

GURU FTW In most capitalistic economy, negotiating price between suppliers is called "price fixing" and it is illegal. You can go to jail and liable for class action lawsuit. It is hilarious how realistic this game is becoming.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it does seem that the amount of cash paid has dropped significantly, but ive stopped running for a bit. Unless a guildie or ally needs one

First off running for money is pure economics and the law of supply and demand comes into play. Lets face it, there are alot more runners than there used to be. So in order to increase your income you need to

1. Find something else to do that has a better return for your time.

or

2. Lower your price to get the business.

or

3. Change your product.

For instance, I run droks as a monk and I made 16k off of 4 customers. I got 10k in tips. I run for tips or for 2k like everyone else, but half the time people will tip me since I am a monk. It is not uncommon for me to make more money in tips than if I charge a set fee. I changed my product to offer something different for customers to want to see. It helps. Now running droks as a monk is harder than as a warrior but it usually has a better return.

Actually it is possible to be at RoF at lvl 1. You need 2000xp to hit lvl 2. 1000 for THK, and about 850 for starting quests. Thats 1850. 2000-1850=150. Its still a positive number so it is possible.

GURU FTW Dude I have to agree with you for Runs from Beacons to Droks and Ascalon to Lions Arch.I used to do Beacons to Droks but I figured I make more money from Beacons to LA for 250 gold and its quicker so you might want to do that

droks runs are getting more and more common, i changed from droks over to LA to Sanctum run, its fairly easy with a bit of spamming teams fill fast and you can charge 2k a run for a say 15-20 min run and its alot easier :P

I always run for free. I don't die very often either. Of course there's always bad spawns, but nyah. I feel good for taking money away from "pros".
