Any Stores carrying Nightfall Prerelease yet?

I checked multiple stores in town and went out of town to check Walmart, EB Games, Best Buy, none of them have it or seem to even know what I was talking about. It isn't a matter of it being sold out, they just haven't even gotten it.

Best Buy's website says the 28th. Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Well, pardon my French, but this whole thing appears to be one huge clusterRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO!

EB and Gamestop appear to have it, but not unless you buy the game at the same place, and it's unclear when you would get the pre-release. Worse still, someone, somewhere failed to explain to their employees what the thing even is, and the stores that do know what the hell it is don't have enough or don't get it unil two weeks after the supposed release date.

Somewhere along the line, or more likely at several places, people in certain marketing and sales departments messed up BADLY.

Either way, EB/Gamestop has proven that as a company, it does not have its act together. This is not the first time something like this has happened with them.

According to the EB Games guy I talked too (who was hard to get away from Guitar Hero for more than five seconds), they will have the prerelease pack after release, but not before then.

Genius.

I went to three Gamestops and EB Games stores today and Best Buy yesterday to buy the prerelease. The prerelease is not there and the guys there didn't know when they would be getting it in. Not even a shelf label telling me that these companies planned to have it there.

Oh well, at least for Factions, the prerelease was on schedule to Best Buy.

I went to EBgames, The lady there wasnt even able to figure out what I was talking about :P She kept saying no no, Nightfall comes out October 27th. lol Yeah they obviously didnt have the pre order > Guess I'll just order it from bestbuy.com and wait. I don't mind waiting, As long as I get 1.

Acturally bestbuy.com has a buy 2 get 3rd free deal for software 9.99 and under. Me and my friend will buy 2 together and give the freebie to our freeloader of a friend :P

So far HMV seem oblivious to its existance.

These whole release things are ridiculous. I went to the classic trio of miscommunication, Best Buy, EBGames, and Gamestop, two of which are officially listed on the main Guild Wars site as viable sources of the product in question, and none of them had the goods.

EBGames:
The random older lady working there, who's probability of being a gamer herself or knowing anything about anything was null, checked underneath the counters in some boxes of randomass demos and CDs that looked like magazine inserts. She didn't find a thing, and had no clue what was going on.

Gamestop:
The guy was helpful enough to, after searching for physical evidence of the prerelease, search his computer high and low for anything with Nightfall or Guild Wars in the name but found nothing. He knew about Nightfall coming out in October, and was aware that such things were released by the GW company, but didn't know when the stuff would be in.

I went back yesterday and still nothing. I'll keep calling him over and over again though... :P

BestBuy I checked a couple days ago when I was buying some DVDs. Checked the next day when I was returning and exchanging a ridiculously broken copy of Man on Fire.

I called the store about half an hour ago and he said the prerelease was scheduled to hit the shelves on Sept. 24
-That would be the last day of the preview event. Awesome. Since I work that morning and still have other things to do, that means I'd have only about 2 hours to use the prerelease content in the preview.

So now if I want the prerelease in time to have an extra char slot so I can have a PvE nightfall and still have a PvP slot, I'll have to give my card number out to yet one more website and try and buy from amazon. :/

You know, you'd think, that 2 million people possibly buying a $50 game every 6 months would get a retailer's attention!

I mean, if one store showed the least bit of interest in getting these things in on time, I'd be a dedicated customer for life.

As is, I settled for Gamestop, because:

They were taking pre-orders for Nightfall CE (something even their "sister" company EB Games wouldn't for Factions).

They claim they will take give me the pre-release package for a $5 deposit, not $5 extra. (I'll let you know how that turns out).

They did give me a Display Box. Woot.

Has there been any official word yet as to why this has happened again?

NCSoft's marketing/sales department is beginning to piss me off.

Same exact story with the Factions pre-kit, GameStop did not have a clue what I was talking about nor when they would get anything like it.

I remember preordering guild wars:factions THREE.... THREE months before it came out on EB Games. I called them everyday when the preorder box came out. now, 5 months after Guild Wars;Factions release, they still don't have it.

I called Comp USA and got an actual GW gamer on the phone. He said he'll hold one for me, which may arrive Monday or Tuesday of this week. I'll still call the EB Games and Gamestop locations. Best Buy too. Just by phone, not gonna waste gas on this.

Call Comp USA. They can at least get it on their computers/website. Ask them to jot down your name and number to put one on hold for you.

So much for Sep 15th... heh im not worried tho cause i work at best buy for my second job and my brother works at Gamestop for his.

Actually Gaile has confirmed that you can't get the bonus weapons til you add your retail Nightfall key. Some people (like me) were able to spawn the weapons early but that was a bug; and they patched the bug after a few hours. So in the end; no one will be using prerelease conent in the preview and as long as you have the bonus pack by Oct 27; you're fine.

On a side note, both bestbuy and gamestop have the bonus pack listed with a hard street of the 24th or 28th (dont remember which)... Its the same as the normal preorder. I think something got mixed up in the initial communications to most distributors.

You guys know whats pissing the crap outta me? I never get the pre release bonus pack, even if I'm the first one in the whole store to preorder it. If you read the conversation on the bottom, you'll understand. Read it from the bottom and then go up. Well, I let this one slide. I guess it was alright for me to MISS the tengu festival, the items, and everything else. Right. Right. I let it slide. Oh well, so now I go preorder the guild wars:nightfall. I call them on the 15th.
Whats really making me mad is these great stores don't even communicate inside their workplace. How can they not simply just tell each other the right facts, instead of lying to me everything time...

This is pissing me off. Way too much. I don't want this happening every 6 months. I don't know what the hell is going on with gamestop, eb games, and everywhere else... but they don't seem to have any. We recommend that you contact your retailer again. We’ve checked with the appropriate departments on our end and have confirmed that we did indeed supply the keys to our retailers. I can assure you that they should have enough codes to issue to customers who have ordered the Pre-Order package. If you already pre-ordered through a store, then be sure to contact that store for assistance. If they cannot assist you, then they should be able to direct you to the appropriate place within their company structure to get further assistance.

I have already phoned EB Games countless times to ask about the number of Guild Wars Factions preorder boxes they had. They said, they only had 2 or 3 to start off with, and never got any more then that... ever. So they don't even have any to begin with, and the Guild Wars Factions head start day, and probably all the contents in the guild wars factions preorder box is something that i won't probably get. I don't know whats with the lack of numbers

During the weekend of April 21st – 23rd, an announcement was made in-game that ArenaNet has forged a deal with EBGames®, GameStop® and CompUSA® to help alleviate this problem.

ArenaNet has provided those retailers with a supply of pre-order access keys, which they are able to provide to customers in an expedited manner not involving any shipment time. However, those retailers have not updated their websites to reflect this news.

As such, we strongly recommend contacting those retailers directly (via phone or e-mail) to determine their remaining availability of the keys provided to them, and their distribution process for those keys.

do not have the preorder box of Guild Wars Factions at all, and they have only gotten 2-3 Preorder Boxes ALL total, as they have said. I have missed the Guild Wars, one day early head start, because I havent' gotten the key, even after MONTHS of waiting for it. It was supposed to be there in March 7, but I'm really disappointed I was not able to get the preorder box, or anyone of its contents, even after the realease of the game. Thank you, ANET, sorry, but I am very disappointed...

Just to clarify, this Guild Wars Factions Pre-order Pack will provide a key that will enable and provide special items and events. You will receive the special ingame items as long as you receive and apply this Factions Pre-order Key to your account, regardless of when you apply it.

Is anyone in ANET going to help me? I contacted Gamestop today to ask about the white envelope with the key code I was supposed to get for preordering Guild Wars: Factions. They told me they would have these envelops 1-2 weeks before Guild Wars Factions is released. Is this true? Or are they supposed to have it right now.

I have just a few hours ago, reserved Guild Wars: Factions. I haven't gotten any special key or anything. All I was given was my receipt and I was wondering why the heck I don't get anything. I've read you get 2 special preorder items and a key for proof. I haven't gotten anything.

I just don't see why anyone ever goes to EBgames or Gamestop. I always get it from either Bestbuy or Compusa. One of the main reasons I do is that rather than arguing with sales clerks that don't know what's going on for half an hour; you can just grab it off the shelf youself and go.

Well, I drove an hour and a half to Bestbuy and an hour and a half home.. I was angered to discover that Bestbuy does not have the preOrder on their shelves for Nightfall. They told me that I could order it online.. and that it would be released on the 28th.. I told them they were wrong.. but I already wasted a ton of gas and I was too pissed to have a long conversation with the ignorant clerk. The online order will cost me 30 dollars more than buying the 9 dollar preorders off the shelf if I could have done that.. (I have to get 4 for my family).

There aren't any other stores that would carry the preorder close to me.. This sucks..

So I'm without anything for the 22nd event. I wanted my preorder stuff!

I live pretty far away from bestbuy. I never had problems with eb games, except with guild wars. Man, its either ANET or EB Games thats making all these mistakes.

Bestbuy is getting them in on either the 24th or 28th. But don't worry about the preview event. You don't unlock the slot nor the weapons until you add your full retail key for Nightfall. So if you get it before Oct 27; you're fine.

It's EBgames, Anet sends out the packs to the stores main offices and from there it's their responsibility to get it out to each individual outlet. Some stores seem to hold them back til a certain date; others just seem to horde them all for themselves or something as none of their outlets actually seem to get more than a couple.

If I forgot to mention, they also stated that ANET sends the packs accordingly to what they think is right. It was on the phone call today, but I didn't realize I had forgotten to put that up until right now. They said ANET is the ones who give out the packages, and therefore, ANET had sent little or no packages to the EB Games I went to.

Also... THe real question I'm asking is.... where are all the pre release packages eb games has? Just in the storage, pissing everyone off?, not who makes the mistakes. Like I said, I don't care about the mistakes, I just want my stuff like everyone else.

here is where an unknown number are.

the main eb/gamestop answered on the phone (politely) to check the online sales where i bought it stating it would be released and shipped with the product on oct 26.

Hm, I still have doubt. Though that gives me some hope, I'll just wait it off again and see what happens.

It seems highly unlikely to me that Anet would personally send out the bonus packs to each individual location of every store carrying them. If you ask me, the guy on the phone was just trying to pawn off the blame on someone else.

No telling where they're hiding the treasure. But EBgames has a terrible track record with that. They pissed off all of Australia quite thoroughly. Perhaps they really do have many many employees that just keep them for themselves. Or maybe they keep them to sell on ebay since they aren't actually making any money off the bonus packs in store.

Same,i am getting really mad at EB games.I was lucky to get factions preorder in a decent amount of time(although the 2nd one from EB took FOREVER).i WAS hoping to use the preorder items in preview event......

OH YEAH in target a few months ago(for factions preorder)I saw they had mabey 30 preorder packs.....i checked for nightfall today.....nada....grrrrrrrrr.

Well someone (the only person that I've known to actually get the pack from EB) said they walked in; preordered; and they handed it to him free on the spot. Not sure if they're supposed to be charging for it in person or just online.

Thats why i no longer go to Ebgames, and now no longer will be going to Best Buy, cause their slow lazy a.......that don't know shit. My places if fry's now, ya it might be 15-30min drive, but its worth it. Hell they had so many copys its not funny. Sorry that Ebgames is being a pain for you, but i understand where your comming from, so thats why i'm Done. The Disb is the problem, not the copy that makes the game.

All i got to say, go to Fry's ele, the best place to get them, no worrys, went into the store, went to games, look for Guildwars and found a bunch of them and got mine and i was off. But if Gaile said that we don't get them till we use the real key, whats the points?

nope but they reordered on the phone for the higher 54.99 starter kit package and gave me free overnight shipping to make up for the trouble.

I'll pick one up jus before Nightfall is due, they should be plentiful by then + there is no point having one now..free music ect means jack shit to me I just want the weapons.

Haven't found a single shop in NYC which has the bonus pack (or even a clue, what I am talking about).

Made my preorder in a Gamestop shop here (after showing them a printout of their own web page information about GW:N CE plus bonus pack).

ANet should look for a new publisher, who can deal with this issue (at least the delivering part).

And we should only relay on information from the official web side, a running gag from now on.

They are the same store yes, in that they answer to the same mother company.

I went to bestbuy and Futureshop. These People are ignorant. After spending half an hour explaining what guildwars was, I find out Future shop currently has it online only, and bestbuy doesnt even have it on their site. (Canadian) My closest eb games is a car drive away which doesnt help.

yeah, too ebgames is convenient for me to get to at work...was hoping the online store would carry some prerelease keys but oh well.

unfortunately in Tucson, AZ no one seems to have it so hopefully the 10/26 date is going to make a difference. even the store management at ebgames acts like the whole world just sorta "happens" around them and they have no control or access to a management level with any control over crap.

probably a flaw in gamestop/ebgames hierarchy and distribution system. how long ago did gamestop buy ebgames? maybe they just haven't ironed out the transition.

geez, got my prerelease from Fry's....best buy didnt have it, and I wont do business with them again......Fry's is better.
I would order online from someone else if you can.....eb/gameslop arent very reliable.....or the anet store.
sorry that peope are already having problems, it gives me flashbacks of the factions fiasco.
