Sandbox Areas

I've always just wanted to be able to test things without silly limitations in some areas. So I was thinking, why not create Sandbox type areas to do whatever you like? Here's my suggestion:

When you enter the Isle of the Nameless or your Guild Hall it will be a Sandbox Area. And by that I mean you are free to use skills and do things you wouldn't normally be able to do. This would involve changing the Hero Screen temporarily while in the area to the following:

Attributes
  • Attributes can be changed freely and can be leveled up to their most maximum possible, for instance blood could be at 19 since you could use Awaken the Blood and +1 20%, although attribute enhancing things have no effect here.
  • You can change your skill bar freely
  • You can change your Secondary Profession
  • You can change your armor level
  • You can change to an option where your mana and health are infinite
  • You can change your walking speed
  • You can make a limited amount of friendly and unfriendly NPCs with skills and items you've unlocked to practice against.

Since this is just for the sake of testing builds and ideas and fun, I don't really see any downfalls. I think it's alright to let people see what something can be at it's best possible circumstance instead of trying to cast something with a long recharge with Glyph of Elemental Power and not getting the +1 (20%) or something. Also, who wouldn't want to enter their guild hall and start using skills and what not while the guild leader sets up the fight to see what they can get off?

Hmm............. Interesting..
But we can only travel to towns and outposts, where there is no fighting (except for NPCs) I'd rather have the hall and a little teleporter to the sand box.

I was thinking about something like this on the way to classes this morning, would be a nice addition to the pvp areas.

I'd really appreciate it if there was a pve area on the Islands where you could select monster levels, number, type, whatever (if you want to fight 50 level 1 chaos wurms at once go ahead). The monsters would, of course, give no experience or items, this is purely for testing builds and whatever else you would want to do.

Testing pve builds sometimes takes a really long time if you need to level the char to 20 and cap the skill you need, this would allow me to test out ideas in pve without having to start over. I can test it in pvp, of course, but it isn't the same.

Sandbox mode is always fun. it will be cool to see a new mechanic in GW that could have like a small area in the Isle of the Nameless that you could walk into, and you would experience the effect you would have if you were in town, so you can change your stats and skills without having to actually map out.

Also the Isle of the Nameless should be updated with more NPC's.... like sinner and ritualist.

I can see this working only if the monsters you choose to fight here would be on a list of creatures you've already encountered. Having free reign on what to 'find the weaknesses on' takes away the excitement of first encountering them, don't you think? And eventually you'll have their pattern down (skill usages) and be left with "I'm bored, and the AI is terrible" feeling. I'll give a sideways thumb to this idea.

True, didn't think of it that way. Just tired of having to rush a character to someplace new every time I want to test something (not planning on buying more slots, so no room for one primary per slot ). As long as it goes for account, not character it'd work pretty much the same way, except it should be monsters you've killed, not encountered.

Actually, I think this would be hilarious... 8 man team vs Glint and Kuunavang supported by a horde of burning titans, for those late nights when the game slows up a bit
