What Type Of Armor Is Better For Ele
U.B.C.S.
There are so many types of armor for ele can someone tell me the best one to go with i dont mean looks.
Trylo
i choose the battlemages, but so many people like tempests for some reason...
tuperwho
I use tempests. Since I always have an enchantment on (attunement and/or kinetic armor), it's always +10 defense vs. physical and elemental. Easy decision if you ask me

Trylo
in pvp if you have an ench, the foes are doing something wrong.

Yeah man no one would ever use enchantments in PvP certainly not like Aegis or Tainted Flesh or Ether Prodigy all of those are awful and no one ever uses them.
Trylo
theyre all pretty useless.. i would go with hydro for the looks though

DeanBB
I chose Hydro figuring it would be good protection in the mountains vs the cold using critters and then again in the fire islands when there is a ranger using winter. Also looks cool IMHO.

I use ascalon tempest, seems best looking and most effective to me.

itsnt that the starting armor in tyria?
Trylo
did they give tempest/Battlemages to the proph char armorys?
if you're only doing pve tempest works, but in pvp only take battlemages.

I like the look of the geomancer armor best, so that's what I use. The 15k geomancer dyed black is sexy imo!

I use Battlemages most of the time, and swap to Archmages if I pick up DP. All of the damage that is going to be hitting you is physical. In small fights, where little bonuses start to matter the most, you will not be enchanted reliably.

Peace,
-CxE Ensign went over his armor choices once for me, as well as weapon choices and offhands, and it was all really interesting.
I'll paraphrase some of the tidbits ensign was willing to give me, and add my own two cents.
First and foremost, my personal preference is +health armor. due to eles being rather soft targets, and so much of any spike damage accrued is armor ignoring, the +health helps a lot. against degen, armor once again is not a factor, so once again, another vote for archmages.
When having smaller skirmish battles in GVG where you will probably get sent back to deal with a gank squad, you have to consider what you'll be up against. if they're sending assassins or warriors into your base, the vs. physical is king, because a warrior isn't going to give a crap about your extra 40 health (unless he knows you're wearing battlemage and switches to an elemental weapon...if you don't see lifestealing flashing up on your screen and your opponnent is good there's a good chance that might be the case) rangers are another matter, since most rangers sent into the base are crip shot, and have lenghten cripple or poison strings, where physical will help you out.
when I'm rolling a pvp elementalist, I always go for +health, but given the option it's best to have a few different sets to work with.

Prophecy Campaign - During my exploration stint I used Hydro in Southern Shiver Peaks, Pyro in Fire Islands. The bonus to the elemental dmg is nice because you take quite a lot of it.
Canthan side I am using my battlemage and archmage sets. Tempest is nice if you can maintain an echantment but currently there are just way too many enemies that strips your enchantments.
@Trylo - Nope, you can only purchase the normal Hydro/Pyro/Geo/Aero sets in Tyria. You can get the full range when you go for Obsidian armour though but by then you already know what armour you wanted
@UBCS - Any armour purchased in Kaineng is max, the only thing that you have to decide on is the look of the armour. In your shoes, I'd go for archmage, it gives you a nice health bonus which tends to help enemies not aggro you first in groups. And as everyone knows, an Ele being attacked is a little less helpful in a real fight

Which armor you choose to use depends on what your build of Elementalist you have. Your build also changes depending on what you're doing in the game and what that calls for. You can end up having multiple armor sets for an Elementalist just for usefullness in different situations.

I use +hp armor on my ele. Purchasing tempest armor was tempting, but then i decided to go for +hp, because +35hp + major vigor rune which isnt that costly allows me to completely negate the drawback of superior rune use. I tend to put sup runes on headpiece of the armor. Its really nice to have your elemental attribute maxed out. Plus I use a weapon with with +hp mod, which gives me a bit more hp so as not to be targeted first by mobs in groups. But then again its your choice, tempest is nice too.
Hella Good
+10 armor while enchanted.

My 15k Luxun...I took a lot of time figuring out what I wanted...
I ended up going with the + HP for the Hands and Feet
and the Vs Physical for the Chest and Legs.
It used to be that I wouldn't mix and match armours (in Prophecies) but this set really seems to work for me now
It allows me to not get hit as much since I have a good amount of HP (along with my Vigor) so Mobs don't go for me first in PVE and also gives me a little bit more armour vs the Warriors if they do hit on me.
In Cantha before I bought my armour it seemed I got hit on more by Warriors and Assasins then by Caster types. (Could just be me and somehow the physical damage types liked me for some reason giggles)

Undressed
Get +Health and +armour while under an enchantment, basically 2 sets.

sorry i didnt notice your post earlier, but it makes no sense. sorry.
if you meant those enchantments are good, yes they help. that has nothing to do with what i said though.
