I've been playing GW for about 2 months now. I have 8 level 20 chars, all PvE. 1 of each class.

So far, i've gotten 15k for the ones that I really like, 1.5k for all, weapons out the ying-yang, and a bunch of other crap that I don't really need.

I have all but 2 elites left to unlock on my Warrior, and a bunch of skills unlocked through all other professions. I've beaten the Tyrian world and Canthan world through all missions.

I did AB for a while, but got bored with the same 4 or so maps over and over again. It's always the same scenario. One team has 2 MM's that over-run the map with minions, or one side just seemed to get all crappy players.

I did Halls for a very short time. It's okay, but there's no real variety. I mean, do you go VIMway, Iway, balance...you get the idea.

It's just sad that people force you to play the game a certain way if you want to interact with other people. Monks have a .05% chance of being allowed in a group if they don't heal. Warriors are almost always expected to "tank" even though tanking has no real merit as there are no tanking skills (nothing to gain / hold / lose aggro).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I really want to keep playing it, as i've met some really cool people...but I can't seem to force myself to play for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Is there anything anyone does to keep the game fun?

Wait for nightfall, I login and logout just to stay on my guildroster.
Pvp was fun for a while, but got boring.
Pve is even worse. If i dont have 100k+50ectos im useless anyway.

Maybe nightfall wont be purchased.

Wait for nightfall, or go play another game. Gw is pretty stagnant and rotten for the moment...

Join a good guild and do some True PvP, GvG.

It's much more fun, than anything else in the game imo.

There's very simple ways to gain and hold aggro, but it requires group co-ordination. Most 'tanks' try to play defensively - you just need a few armor boosting skills and pure damage

If you want to play unorthodox classes (which can be great fun), it's best to go with players that you know and that are competent enough to do well without needing the group relying on cookiecut builds.

I always enjoy just going to a highlevel pve area (for killing or whatever) or pvp with people I know...

Well, I'd have to say... SLOW DOWN.

If you're new to the game, and have beat both campaigns in two months you must be playing waay too much - when you play so much you are bound to get bored with it at some point.

So pace yourself.

I understand the feeling, I love GW but sometimes I log in and wonder what to do. I've complete both stories with some of my characters, completing with all of them didn't appeal to me. Some of the PvE titles look interesting but again getting them didn't appeal to me. Unlocking all skills doesn't really appeal to me either, I'd rather go cap a skill if I find that I need it. PvP wasn't something I wanted to do but Fort Aspenwood did kept me entertained for a while until swarms of afkers took the fun out of playing. I took time out to farm for various green weapons, farming for monies and kitted out all my characters with lovely weapons and armour. Once my characters had everything they need, I was at a loose end again. I have actually turned to PvP for entertainment now, something that I thought I'd never do. I spend most of my time in RA, learning and getting used to PvP. It's kinda mixed between annoying and fun in a strange way...I dunno. I've set myself a goal to at least get the first Gladiator title, and then hopefully move onto working for a Hero's title. Maybe that goal will be put on hold when Nightfall comes out, but for the moment it's entertainment.

Um, i got a character to level 20 in like, two days with very little effort. It's easy if you know how to do it.

.. but where is the fun in it? I know, LATER, it will be boring to level up ALL chars slowly, but he started playing just 2 months ago.. I was playing my first character for a several months till he hit at last level 20...

BTW: I'm playin GW over a year now (mostly everyday) and still getin much fun from it - playing with friends, discovering new skills usage and so on. GW is not a job, GW is for fun.

Yeah, it doesn't take long to hit 20 in Factions. My Warrior got 20 in around 7 hours. Most other chars maxed anywhere from 8 - 12 hours, depending on group formation / me just messing around.

About joining a good guild, I'm in the best guild that I know of right now. I have met a bunch of really awesome people that I chat with daily.

I guess some of it is my fault. I moved to NC about a month before I started playing GW and since I don't know anyone really, I just come home, work out and then play GW usually.

I'm definitely looking forward to Nightfall, since I have a felling the PvE will be awesome (and it comes out on my birthday, alongside Saw 3)

Agreed, it doesnt take long to level in factions - infact it's way too fast - Lvl20 in 6 hours, 5 minutes is my record, complete with all 200 attribute points, but still on starter armour

EDIT: One of these days, I will go for a proper timed run to see just how fast I can make lvl 20...
<5 hours, perhaps, even?

I think the OP wants us to tell him about stuff he can do in the game. Basically, titles would have to interest you, but theres 180 elites to cap, master cartographer, Protector titles, wisdom titles, treasure hunter, etc... Elites alone should take you a few weeks if you don't play 7 hours a day. There's being in a good guild that does regular GVG and HA, theres UW and FOW, the leet missions in cantha, plus we (our guild) regularly do scavenger hunts, hide and seek, find the NPC, races, scrimmages and so on. Tons of people have turned the game into a "traders delight" buy farming weapons/mods and selling them to amass large amounts of cash. You could even try and completely fill your storage up. The main thing is not to be a loner and find a guild that completely suits you, it's more social when your bored then anything else. Be inventive too, theres always something to do.

They're not so much a pain in the ass. There's just....nobody there. Thunder and Waters have been deserted for the past few days and henching those missions is a pain in the ass.

Nightfall is the answer. I don't have 8 level 20's, but I was beginning to get burned out on GW and started looking for other games. I think Anet has gotten the message by trying to keep our interest by all these "event weekends." However lame some may seem, at least they're trying. Now with Nightfall around the corner, I've come back to GW somewhat, but still play other games.

Start in pre searing, lvl up to 7 or higher before you leave. Try to do all the quests. Maybe fight across the wall a few times. Try to get a no req 9-13 flatbow for pulling. Collect a few dyes. In other words, don't rush through. There's plenty of things to do in pre to keep you interested.

When you're finished in pre, go to post searing. Start doing all of the ascalon quests. Go to sardelac, there are several quests you can get from there. Maybe gain a lvl or two, then do The 1st mission and bonus.

Go back to old ascalon and go to Piken Square. There's tons of quests you can get from there. Instead of buying Althea's ashes, actually try to do the quest. It can be quite challenging for a low lvl team.

After you've finished the piken and ascalon quests there's a few quests you can get at Ft Ranik. Finish those, then do the mission and bonus. etc. etc.

Do you get what my point is OP? You're obviously rushing through the game. Instead of rushing through the missions, try to go to the smaller towns around the mission areas. There are many quests you can pick up in these areas.

I can guarantee that if you complete some of the more difficult early game quests while you're below lvl 10, you'll have as much fun and a sense of accomplishment as you will at lvl 20 beating Thunderhead Keep.

One of the easiest ways to ruin the enjoyability of the game is to rush through. I hear players constantly asking for runners to skip over the ascalon area. Or asking for a runner from LA to Sanctum Cay. A week later they're probably rdy to start another character along the same route.

Of course the game gets boring playing like that.

So true! Look at how many people rushed through Factions on the first day of release (literally) and then complained about how boring it is.

To OP: Take a break once in a while! Get out of the house and do something else. The problem isn't GW. The problem is you're burnt-out on GW. And when you do play GW, spread out your playing time between characters & the places you play in. You can even do the same thing with the same character using a different build for the change of pace.

Start enjoying PvP side of the game again. It's really fun and exciting if you do it with friends/guild.

Sure, major proportion of HA is these premade builds, vim etc. but that doesn't stop you from inventing new builds to defeat them, what it needs is a group of friends and/or a guild.

Since you have a little time to wait till the new release of Nightfall start another new character. Do not use any previously collected items or crafting material or funds from storage. Do not have anyone run you anywhere. Use only collector armor and use only dropped or collector reward items and weapons. Sell all drops or trade (If you find that ultra rare item go put in storage) but keep funds in this character only. Hench all missions or if you a solo player like me try it with random pick up groups. Try for Masters Level / Completion and bonus on all missions. I am sure you have not done all of the side quests, so do as many as you can. Try for as many titles as you can get. Use skills you never have used, and don’t just use the ones that the build forums say work try out new ones. (I personally like the “Kamikaze Elementalist “no ranged skills and just a totem axe and focus. It all “up close and personal” with ranger defenses of course  Attack, explode, run away)

The game is what you make of it. If you want to rush it go ahead and rush. If you want to experience it you need to slow down

Already leveled up to 20 in Pre with a W/Mo as my first char, doing all quests I could find. Then I deleted him because I liked Cantha better.

I guess a lot of people that play GW never played games like WoW or other MMO's that require almost all of your free time. That's probably why I completed so many things in only 2 months, since I just did as much as I could, as fast as possible so I could get to end-game content. Too bad there isn't really any end-game content other than AB / Halls / GvG...

Oh well. I've been doing stupid stuff lately, like chest running / 2-manning missions, running infusion for people who need it.

If I get bored before Nightfall, i'll just do something else I guess.

Thanks for not really paying attention to the thread title, guys, and just posting "you played too much, oh well" instead of "yeah, I normally do some chest runs when i'm bored...that kills time very quickly"

To the people who did suggest something: thanks.

Should we even wonder how you got 15k armor and nice weapons/runes for eight charecters in two months? I'm guessing you bought some gold, because I see no feasible way that you did that. Even more proof is the fact that you have EIGHT charecters which shows you aren't a slouch when it comes to buying things off of internet stores.

PvE charecters are very hard to make useful for PvP. You have to have several sets of armor, lots of different weapons for different occasions etc. While this is nice once you have it all, its very expensive to do it.

First of all NO games require you to use all of your free time to play, it's a personal choice - you can raid in WoW playing just one night a week if you want to - if you need to do it more it's either because you're addicted or because you're letting guild members pressure you.

Also loose the WoW mentality - THIS isn't WoW, it doesn't require the same from you - get that or go back to WoW.
