New Nightfall Skill, it begins.
IamI
It hasn't been officially announced but on the pre-release packs it says that there is a skill called Signet of Illusions. Basically, this was the face of the build:
"Activating the new Mesmer skill Signet of Illusions allows you to use your Illusion Magic attribute on the next spell you cast. With this skill, you can steal spells from other characters and then use them against enemies at full effect. Imagine the chaos you’ll cause when you steal a few skills, and then suddenly cast an odd spell no one would ever expect a Mesmer to cast. Combine this strategy with Energy management and defensive skills like Distortion, and you’ll have a powerful and very diverse character."
Quoted from another fansite. Does this skill seem extremely fun or what??

Sounds like a very interesting skill. Would be very useful when fighting monks, as you could steal one of there healing spells and use it at full effect.
Only question is will it be elite or non-elite?

I'll be very happy if I see this in Nightfall. I've allways thought Mesmers should have something like this. I probably would have linked it to Inspiration, but meh, whatever...
Terra Xin
Yeah I would have linked it to inspiration as well, it... it must have a very weird drawback if it's in the illusion line.
Neriandal Freit
Oh I'm sure it'll be nerfed, none ofus need to take any of this at full effect, all skills (new ones at least) will be nerfed and modified as need be.
But, I do say, this fits a mesmer perfectly.

For PvE I sometimes bring all the spell stealing spells, some mobs end up helpless because they have no skills left - kinda funny.
This seems like a nice addition.

Phe Belladona
so this is like an Arcane Theivery that keeps the opponents attribute level?
if so it must be elite or have a massive down time, if its the down time we may have a use for keystone besides mesmer bonding.

Yeah likely elite..
and Belladona, omg to the icon. I love it due to the sheer "omg" effect! lol, i just was like "woh woh woh woh woh...." and clicked back to this topic!
nicely done!

I agree, that sounds elite... imagine a Me/E casting Ether Prodigy at 16 Illu---- Energy Storage.
And so what, havent you ever seen a kiss?

Funny a skill like that was suggested awhile ago. I guess the idea reached the right ears. Sounds thrilling. Makes Me even funner to play.
Dragannia
Ten bucks says it has obscene recharge.
LadyNilene
pretty spiffy, but there has to be some kind of fault too it...possibly the recharge as mentioned above.
ubermancer
Mantra of Signets + Keystone Signet ftw?
Hella Good
For just this one Sig? I doubt it. I doubt recharge would be more than 45s. Or maybe it's elite. Do you guys think it's an elite? Sounds like a pretty powerful skill to me...

Who knows, many of the mechanics of Nightfall seem to blatently overpower the norm - and Im not just talking about D/Mo's.
Themis
Signet of illusions was used during beta-tests before GW release. It was removed, along with Confusion, Disappear and ... Unnatural Signet.
Unnatural signet was brought back in Factions. Who knows, perhaps the others will comme back in Nightfall ?
During the beta, Signet of Illusions wasn't an Elite.

Hella Good
What was Disappear like?
Themis
If i remember properly, Disappear made you disappear from the radar, moreover your character couldn't be focused normally (through C and tab keys).
Unnatural signet used to destroy a spirit completely. It was reworked for Factions : it does only damage.

Well, why would you put such a skill in when Spirits were hardly used to the point where you'll need an anti-Spirit skill. They are much more common now. It only makes sense.
But if truly Sig of Illusion is not an elite that would make Me the true jack of all trades. I'm excited- it's yet another proof that playing a Me requires knowledge of every other profession.

Sure, it wasn't a balanced skill. Especially for a signet. You know, at first GW skills looked a lot like Magic the Gathering cards : extreme. Some kind of "you destroy the target"...
there're much more subtle as they are now. You need combinations now, not just one single uber skill.

Lady Lozza
Oh this one is sounding good
Full powered fast-cast meteor shower, ether prodigy, animate flesh golem (for a bit of havoc), or even just stealing a full powered e-surge off a dom mes when you are running full illusion... This skill sounds like fun

NinjaKai
ANet gave us the ability to steal skills. This is the next logical step in the evolution of that idea.

Just for clarification, Unnatural Signet wasnt over powered, it was *BAD*.
REALLY bad.
Btw, I had heard that one of the french fansites had a skill listing of Nightfall, which include Disappear.
Its unsubstantiated.

It destroyed all spirits on the battlefield, with a 2 minute recast time.
It was horrid.

It was horrid. No no, it wasnt a 2 minute recast.
It took like 6 seconds to activate, and disabled all of your skills for 2 minutes.

Hey Themis, what did Confusion do?
MysticalCheeseit
Kind of off-topic, but does anyone know if there is a list somewhere of old beta skills that don't exhist today?
Shanaeri Rynale
I suspect it would be elite. or at least have a high recharge. It would overpower a lot of builds, L 16 spellbreaker, Ether Prod, SS, Rit lord etc, the list goes on. I suspect it may be limited to the next 'mesmer' spell you use in the final release tho.
One to try out for sure tho. If it is as described it's getting welded to my skill bar

Well, they do talk about stealing other prof skills and then using them but then you can always equip some random skill on your bar and SoIllusion it. I have a feeling it will be elite because of the ease of fast recharging sigs and the implications of being able to spam other prof prime att elites.
Terra Xin
nope, im putting my money based on my interest in the concept of illusion magic. I'll bet all of you, if it's in the illusion line, it's going to have some very very weird drawback, it's not necessarily going to be something obvious like additional recharge time...
All of the illusion skills are used to toy with a person's perception. Conjure Phantasm/Nightmare is effectively making your target psycho, Ineptitude turns you into a dumbass :P, Distortion and the Visage skills present a false image, the same thing will apply with this new skill, it will play on that targets perception... hell, it might even have the same drawbacks as Illusion of Pain/Haste :P.
EDIT: Oh I see now, the statement from the OP states that you can combo this skill with Arcane Thievery and the like... seems... ooo....

Disappear sounds heavenly. Your about to get spiked.... enemy team are like spike in 3....2... omg he's disappeared. I would love to have this skill even if was an elite and cost 15 energy. But only if it can be linked to Domination
Signet of Illusions sounds nice but slightly overpowered so I'm sure it will come with some nasty drawback like, all your skills are disabled until VoD. This signet causes triple exhaustion and gives you 60% DP lol then it would be so pro

Well, the whole plays with perception thing about Illusion magic is overhyped. It's basically a bunch of War Hate and degen hexes. There is only a few skills that actually stick to the idea of Illusion- Phantom Pain, Illusion of Pain, Illusion of Weakness, and Illusion of Haste. I guess you can toss Etheal burden in there as well. But the rest is just mesmerizing names for things that actually dont create anything that "plays with perception." :-)
Cherno
I wonder if the level at which you can use the stolen spell will be based on your attribute placement in illusion or the stealee's? I think it would be better, and more logical coding wise to make it based on your level of illusion, transfer that number to the appropriate level for the line that the stolen spell is in.
Katari
I thought the Beta version of Unnatural sig was something like this:
Quote:
Description: Remove the most recent "Nature Ritual." All of your skills are disabled for 60-36 seconds. Quote:
Energy Cost: 0
Casting Time: 15 seconds
Recharge Time: 75 seconds From http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Talk:Unnatural_Signet
Sawyer
Skills from the beta which, hopefully, will appear in Nightfall. No descriptions though. Only skins. You can see Confusion, Disappear, Signet of illusions...

Oh I love the skins! Combust Phantasm looks awesome. I wonder what it was (maybe will be) like. Confusion looks like a version of Ineptitude skinwise. Disappear looks cool, too, I love The Eye. :-) There is quite some skills in there. Mantra of Hex Reflection/Hex Shattering (I guess that ended up being Hex Breaker). Mimic...
Does anyone know if they mentioned any skill names in the recent article released in PC World, PC Gamer or whatever the name was. >.<

Wow. All the 'Mantra's' used to be maintained enchantments. I sometimes wish Mantra of Inscriptions still were...but only sometimes!
