Lots of people have been asking for new emotes. From new rank-type emotes or the humble /cry, I've seen alot. Heck, I think I heard somebody ask for an emote for every title. (If that hasn't been sujested, somebody do it now.)
Emotes are nice, but why don't we dig deeper.
Weapons:
For most of the emotes, holding an item is most difficult. Like trying to do the Male Necromancer flex carrying a flag. Okay, so he pushes it through his head.
Thus the reason for items disappearing durning emotes. So why don't we have weapon orientated emotes? If you're holding a sword you'd do something sword related. Like Mesmers going Three Musketeers, or a Monk doing some simliar Tai-chi stuff. Come on, we don't have too many weapons, and it would be a good way to show off your character to their full combat value. What's the fun in taking a screenshot of your Warrior just standing their with your hard earned weaponry, or doing a similarly cool pose with their hands empty.
Objects:
The idea of emotes reletive to your weapon spawned a similar idea. What about emotes reletive to the objects around you? Everybody's wanted to lean up against a wall at somepoint.
How about chairs? Just give each class and gender a special sit for a static object. Come on, you can hold off an invasion of gigantic Cat-Monsters, but your hard earned rest is sitting on the bone strewn ground? Let's get some hard-core comfort going on.
And from that the possiblities are endless. If there was just an /object emote, the entire world will have a new level of interaction. There dosen't have to be just some random stools sitting around. There can be armchairs for a Monk to sit crosslegged, or an Elementalist to drape her legs over the arm.
Locations:
Why stop there? We can have bars, meeting areas, gardens, forums, you name it. Places to freaking sit. I like the idea of an NPC that sells ale with a counter infront of him and a bunch of chairs so people can go for their Drunkard title en masse.
We don't need a 'Welcome weary traveller!' White Horse Cliche Fantasy Game Inn, but it'd be nice to actually sit down on a chair for a change.
Toss some stuff like this into the Isle of the Nameless, or maybe even a similar Cross-Chapter PvE locale that deals with the Player vs Enemy aspect of the game. And of course add chairs and a tavern. So far, there really hasn't been a social location other then towns, and towns seem too game orientated. Let's get something that's geared to player connections.
If a location is designed around emotes to interact with objects, there can be a realistic location, not just some open space for people in full armor to run around in circles while shoving weapons and gold at each other. Just because they're people there, dosen't make it more lively.
The Bare Minimum
Seeing as though this is kind of a tall order to just randomly be tossed into the game, with all the emotes and whatnot, I don't exactly expect Gaile to command the devs to drop everything so my character can actually sit in a freaking chair realisticly.
If that won't work, let's at least try and get some cross-chapter PvE socialization place. Like a static series of islands to get to the Relms of the Gods, or so people can trade with people from Chapters they don't have. We keep hearing about all this Canthan-Tyrian trade, but Tyrians need to fork out fifty bucks to do it?
And at the very least, toss some rugs or pillows in some places, so sitting on the ground dosen't seem so bad anymore.
Sum it all up, dude.
- Weapon Orientated Emotes
- Object Orientated Emotes
- Social Areas
- Cross-Chapter PvE version of the Isle of the Nameless
- Some freaking chairs, or at least somewhere that looks comfortable to sit. I mean, come on.
