Yeap....Anet messed up BIG whith this event.
Its nice but AB servers are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too overpopulated. The waiting time have been an issue long before the event was planned, don't know what on earth where they thinking of making it even more popular (more people) and still not increasing the server cappacities. It´s just stupid.

3 hours of constant waiting got me into 3 ABs, last night. all ADs on the kurzick side were filled to the brim, and the IDs to boot.
i'd be more upset if i wasn't almost always doing something else while playing GW heh.

First of all, I don't know what you people are talking about. So far, I haven't had to wait for more then 4 miniutes this weekend for a single AB battle.
With more people in the game that means there are more games going on which means that you get into games FASTER (I don't believe that 5 games at once BS, just hit B and count how many GvGs are going on at any one time).
The timer for this event has been the fastest its been for me for a long time, and I'm loving it.

My guilds kurzick. We waiting for ages (bout 20min) then got guest invites to a luxon guild and got in fast.
Then we won pretty much every match.

Even before this event, I have to wait on average 10 mins for a AB battle. Now, las night atleast, I was in 4 in around 2 1/2 hours.

I must be the luckiest person in all of GW, because i almost NEVER have trouble getting a match, it's weird.

Yeah, I was playing Kurzick side (through guesting) and the wait is just terrible. So my guild and I switched back to Luxon side and there was no wait. On top of that, my guild and friends were able to all join in the same alliance battle and clean up in Grenz Fronteir.
As much as we wanted to get some amber besides jadeite all the time, the wait on the Kurzick side is just too long.

each AB needs 12 kurzick and 12 luxon players. i dont think its a server issue, its just that the kurzick AB outposts are filled with people wanting to play while the luxon ones seem to be not nearly as full. and its not as easy to switch sides as on the fort aspenwood or jade quarry maps.

Wow I've played in about 100 AB's this week-end, and haven't seen "No Opposing Party" a single time. Of course I play on the Luxon side. Who wouldn't want to play on the underdog side? This isn't Warcraft where if you're stuck on the majority side you have to reroll your character. Just join a Luxon guild or get a guest invite to one. Problem solved.

I also guess most of you seen the "No opposing party found. Restarting countdown timer." About 200 of these pop up before you get teleported to the battle and which you then pwn in 5 mins. That would result in 1 or 2 battles every hour.
I played the Kurzick side of the AB, but I cant imagine that we outnumbered the Luxons with 200:1. So my guess is that Anet didnt get enough servers and therefor we cant pwn eachother.
Rumors about how the line shift works: Each map is played on 5 servers, each server standing for another territorial part of the map. If Kurzicks win the most fights, the territory shifts to their favor. The maps are same as in Home and International districts, so I guess these servers are worldwide. So that would mean there are just a limited number of consecutive games that can be played at once.
This same problem also occured with Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry weekends and the double fame weekend was laggy as hell. I just dont understand that Anet doesnt expect an increased number of players during these weekends and dont prepare some 'flexible' servers that can change to the situation needed.
As for now, I resign myself from AB, because the double-faction weekend DOESNT WORK. It will be far faster to earn faction outside the weekend, playing 6 games per hour which only give half the faction of this weekend games.

My guess would be that the line shifted while you were queued, and the area you are in ran out of Luxons. Try changing districts or going to your guild hall, then back again.
Why not just get a guest invite to a Luxon guild and fight for the Luxons? The Luxons win almost every battle anyway

It was very odd. There were lots of people waiting to get in, but I would sit there for 30 minutes and not see a single team in the district I was on get cycled in. Change districts, same thing, no one in that district getting cycled in. It seems there were lots of players but not many servers were being used by alliance battles, which resulted in lots of people waiting an hour or so for a 10 minute match. It really was quite frustrating.

It is odd how the queue works, if you can call it that. I've gotten in battles in the first try this weekend, as well having to wait over 30 minutes before finally battling. It's as if you get queued up on a specific server, which is unfair to people who have been waiting 20 minutes only to see some group who just started the timer to get in before them.
I talked to someone on the Luxon side, and they said their wait isn't as bad as the Kurzick side.
It may have been double faction weekend, but it wasn't double the faction gain.
I'll echo the sentiments of the OP, this event has been frustrating.

well I like the Kurzicks but the faction gain isn't good for kurzick ABers since there are long wait times since there are more Kurzicks that enjoy AB than Luxons except for the faction run for their particular area which is why one must get a guest invite or just join a Luxon guild & alliance till both sides are evened out.

I am usually always in the Alliance Battles. This weekend, not so much. I was thinking that one couldn't make as much money through amber sales because the price would drop. Then I thought, 'we will be earning 2x faction'. Wrong.

I never had to see that message playing on Luxon side yesterday, and I did several battles spaced throughout the day. I can only assume that the Kurzick-Luxon imbalance is really that great.

Instead of saying how there isn't enough server capacity....maybe there isn't enough luxon players for you to even have a game? You DO need luxon players for an AB match you know =P And everyone is on the kurzick side because amber is worth more =/
I've been hopping on both kurzick and luxon sides depending on where my friends want to play and usually, I see alot less people on the luxon sides and so well....maybe some of you should just go to the luxon side and see how it goes =P
