I know that Runescape graphics are nothing like Guild Wars but what about gameplay?
I'm thinking of purchasing Guild Wars but I don't know enough about the game to make my decision.
If someone could please tell me what Guild Wars offers that Runescape doesn't and vice versa, it would be much appreciated.
Mostly I would like to know what Guild Wars does not offer that Runescape has. I'm just using Runescape as a comparison because it is the only RPG I know really well.
Also, has anyone played Rakion? I like their combat system over any RPG I have ever tried and played. That requires true talent. Is Guild Wars somewhat like this?
Guild Wars vs. Runescape

I used to play this game until I started hearing about Guild Wars. I was a lvl 84 named Liberator500. It was nice for someone who had a crappy vidoe card, had a very big enviroment, and a great story. But, the gameplay got too repetitive after awhile. It's the typical MMORPG, aka made for people with way to much free time. Then I learned of how Guild Wars was very different fform the typical MMORPG, and that it had no monthly fee, so I got 28 days ago.
It gets boring after awhile since it's just the same the same the same.
"RUNE RUNE RUNE!!" Who cares.... I played this game for about a year even was a member for about 8 months. If I only could have my money and time back!
Overall GW game play surpased anything Runescape can offer period! with a big "."!

Runescape is a disgrace to RPGs, it's a disgrace to games, it should never been made, and people playing it are seriously lost.
If you seriously liked Runescape (which I doubt, you were probably like "FREE, ZOMGZORS!"), definitly buy Guild Wars. Even though you can't really compare it to eachother, Guild Wars is better. Heck, even Quake 3 is better in every single way, and that's not even an RPG!

But you're right: the grind of having SO MANY skills to train wore on me after a while, it got to the point where I didn't log in to play so much as to just chat with my friends and just have a little fun. I played pretty steadily for about a year and a half, and was still nearly 30 levels from the combat level cap, and nowhere close to the cap on any other skills
To the OP: send me a private message on these forums, and i'd be glad to give you an honest comparison between the two, and what I like and dislike about each. (to do so here would probably be flamebait ... from Maxie at least
)r
Runescape is just another money making internet RPG that consumes peoples lives and gives lots of headaches. After playing on GW its frustrating to even look at the darn thing. And hey! if u want to waste more money on pixels on a screen, try Habbo Hotel which kind of isnt an RPG but they still want your money!!!
BTW i have never got involved with either but recently converted my friend to a GW addict after playing on both of the above for many weeks. *claps*

"True talent"? What, the talent of learning how to manage the lag in order to actually hit enemies?

Hehe, jking, but my experience was similar, but I can remember pass, just not user.
Only reason I quit RS was because after being at such a high level spending days and weeks and months trying to get rune ore and make armor for money was a headace, plus the "noob" "n00bS!@!@!" and all of the retarded people of the so called thing thats called "Runescape Community". Half the people cannot even spell right, so it's hard to understand people besides these two words, "RUNE!!" "NOOB!".
Over all Guild Wars has more to offer, in game play and a community!
(Got my Hat and Horns!! From the Winters Day Event!)

never got into RS much, but had fun on a little-known Flash game called OgreIsland (www.ogreisland.com) when it was still in beta... it was free and fun, but dunno how it's doing now..
Runescape has absolutely nothing about it that can even be considered positive EXCEPT:
1) Its free with a massive amount of players
2) Its very stable with thousands of players on each server at the same time
3) Its entirely java based, which is very impressive.
I really don't take it seriously as a game.
