Rune Trader problems?

A friend of mine was trying to sell purple major runes, but whenever she tried, it would bring up the message "The trader refuses to buy that item."

She gave me the runes, and I tried to sell them...same result.

It's like this everywhere (and I mean everywhere...she's beaten the game with her character).

Anyone know what this is all about?

It sounds like they are the old major runes that were updated awhile back. If the rune trader won't take them sell them at the merchant. :-)

Check that:
1. That they're not -50hp runes. These are obsolete and should be destroyed or merchanted.
2. That they're identified. The rune trader will not purchase unIDed runes.

If I was a rune trader I'd refuse buying them too. Major runes aren't worth sh*t.

Seriously now: What Any Stacia said. Sell 'em to merchant. The price is the same anyway.

Another tip on purple runes. ID them but don't salvage them from the armour. You can get more money from the regular merchant than the rune trader if they are ID'd only. There are a couple of exceptions like Major Vigor which is one of the few purple runes worth salvaging anyway.

The only exception really. While there was a slight price jump after the health update, all but three runes have gone to 100 gold price while buying at the rune trader. Two of these three are Major Death Magic at 110 gold and Major Swordmanship at 180 gold (cheap wammos?).
Not really worth salvaging except the Major Vigor.

Okay, there's the problem.
Both runes are -50hp.

Thanks for the info.

...
Ever since update that reduced major rune's health penalty to 35, I use all major runes now. Think...

1 Superior Rune = -75hp & attribute +3 & cost 2k
2 Major Runes = -70hp & attribute +4 & cost 200

Major Runes are more worthy in everyway.

First of all, your math is wrong. You should be comparing 1 Minor Rune + 1 Superior Rune to 2 Major Runes. Then, you'd see that attribute-wise, you are getting the same deal. Health-wise, the difference is only 5 health. Also, the question should be do you want to maximize 1 attribute (16) or get 2 attributes really high. Most of the time, characters choose to be specialists (because this is a team game and others can cover your weaknesses) and want to get that one attribute as high as possible. That is why superior runes are in more demand and therefore cost more.

He wont buy a minor vigor that is exactly the same as the one he is selling so what does that mean exactly?

Erm, actually major runes are quite handy. The damage you would do with 16 and the damage with 15 points in an attribute is not that big. But there is a difference between 12 and 13 critical strikes, for example. These little things are worthy taking into consideration...

You can't sell the minor vig you got from the rune quest.

I think he didn't mean they stack.

A superior Fire + minor energy storage = 15 fire + 10 storage + 10 healing players

A major Fire + major energy storage = 15 fire +10 storage +10 healing but 5 hp more...

However I calculate 2 majors are better.

But, In case you want to have 16 fire magic you get - 5 health and - 1 point in healing for example If I am not wrong (too lazy to start gw and check it all ^^)

The trader is refusing to by my minor vigor. And sometimes when I ask for a quote to purchase a minor vigor the trader say they just ran out of stock. Since it isn't a -50 vs -35 rune, I wonder why he won't buy the minor vigor?
