Why no Nightfall in the online store?

I know there has been alot of confusion about the pre order (starter kit) of nightfall as well as questions about shipping like the factions CE problem so why doesn't ANET allow you to purchase the bundle packs (nightfall regular with preorder and nightfall CE with preorder) through the online store. Most people just want the cd keys anyway. The rest of the material can be mailed just like the vendors will do. To me that would clear up all the confusion for this chapter and future chapters. And they have all the info they need since you had to create an account. They have Phophecies and factions on there so why not nightfall?

Nightfall will be in the ingame store; but not preorder bonuses (and be honest; we all know the prerelease pack is just another preorder bonus). Also, only the standard editions of games will ever be sold from the ingame store. The non-standard editions like collector's edition and special edition come with real world items which is part of the package. At the moment the ingame store is completely digital and they don't ship you anything which is why they don't offer CE's.

Consider that the CE's are intentially produced in limited quantities. They only put out so many keys so that once they're gone; they're gone for good and those that managed to get one got something special. If they did put it in the ingame store; it too would have to be for a limited time but it might also complicate the number of CE's to be produced. They'd have to either just make more keys for the ingame store on top of the actual copies they ship out; or they'd have to make less physical copies and sell the keys online. In either case; the overproduction of CE keys might ruin it's specialness; or they may have made too many CE's strictly digital and many people that wanted the actual box couldn't get one cause of the shortage.

Nightfall will become avialable on its release date, as far as Gaile said.

The online store doesnt do anything physical - It just gives your account access to whatever you bought. SO of course they dont give people access to Nightfall...until it comes out

Well he's mostly talking about adding the Prerelease pack and CE to the store.

So much confusion indeed that your confused. Its a pre-release bonus pack, not meant to be used as a preorder.
Also it includes contents which are primarily physical, I.e. a CD full of content. and Anet wont deliver this.

Nightfall SE will be there on release date, theres just no point putting it there now.
