During the update i got horrible lag and frequent error 7's like everyone else....but since then the gw servers seem to have gotten back to normal for everyone but me. I'm still getting lag (although no errors anymore) every time i GvG and occasionally in RA/TA/observer etc as well. Pauses of up to 5 seconds are fairly common. So i'm begginning to think it might be something at my end.
I haven't changed anything recently though, so i'm not sure why i might start lagging. So far i've tried:
-dloading everything with the -image thing
-turning all graphics and sound options down to minimum
-turning off all the backround things on my computer that i can, including virus scanner, and stopping anything i can think of that might access the 'net aside from GW
-repeatedly restarting this computer, and the other one on the network
None of this has helped, nor did i really expect it to since i never had lag in the past without worrying about any of that.
I connect with a wireless home network to another computer, which itself has an ADSL modem and connects to the 'net. This setup hasn't changed recently either. I know my 'net connection is working fine, as i'm able to dload large files at the max speed i pay for. I usually run GW with the -perf thing, so can tell ppl what that says about bytes/sec if that helps.
So.....what else can i check? Anyone have any ideas about what the problem might be?
thx
Persistent lag...beginning to think problem at my end

I can't really help, but I'm having exactly the same problem, exceppt my lag can be much longer than 5s.
I've tried everything Ican think of. I've also changed my router since it started lagging and still no luck. Also tried connecting directly via the ADSL USB modem, but no luck.
Starting to think it might be my ISP, as everything else seems to be working. Just tried a few ping tests, and lost one or two packets. I've emailed the ISP (Tiscali) and I'll let you know what happens.

Ok, before I could get around to the tests that tiscali sent me, the lag seems to have stopped, completely. I had no problems whatsoever last night, for the first time in ages. It means I don't know where the problem was, but at least it's fixed! ^^
