Books, Scrolls, Grimores and more.

Ok, so this idea just came to me and inspired by the changing hair style/face/accessories thread.
What if we where able to read spellbooks, scrolls, etc?
Don't judge yet, hear me out.
Here is my quick thoughts on this. All of the below are things I want to see with the implication of spellbooks and so forth..
One: We could have this as a title
Two: We could gain certain elites this way
Three: They could be obtained by quests, and as Green items.
Four: We would have the option of some of these items being a off-hand item, IE: Nerkbonkle's Grimore (Which we could say would be a +12 Energy, Req. 9 Blood Magic necromancer offhand if you dont read it)
Five: You wont be able to read the same spellbook/grimore/other more then once, or, perhaps, some more then three tiems (IE: You ahve to read this book three times to gain one point in whatever, which would lead to say unlocking a elite)
Alright, that's all I've got thus far, but let's think about this one cause I like the idea and feels original to fit GW.

Or they could use them to greatly improve lore and storyline, sort of like the bleached bones you find around Crystal Desert. Whatever

I like this idea. soooo

it could give the title "Bookworm" ><
finding books to gain skills is a nice idea. as it could be random and you wouldnt always get a good "needed" skill. You could make the skills learned like weapons
core: blue
factions/proph: purple
elite: gold
the green: gain a skill point
I also liked the idea of "not reading" and getting to use them as an offhand.
You may want to make it so once its read its destroyed.

Thats exactly how it would be Legion.
If you read it, it's gone. You can't resell it, you can't use it, nothing.

I also want cards and painting.
but lore items will surely help the RP side of the game.

That'd be cool if say you can buy/find/trade a book on say Blood Magic, read it and unlock any blood magic skill (non elite) of your choice. They could work like those Skill Gem/Crystal things Jack is always saying that should be brought back.
White - 1 Skill (General Skill)
Blue - 1 Skill (Specific Attribute Ex: Blood)
Purple - 1 Skill (All Attributes)
Gold - 1 Elite Skill (Specific Attribute)
As for the holding in your off-hand thing, I think it'd be best if they just made a focus item with the graphic of a grimore.

That inspired me of an interesting idea, Nevin...
A Skill Book! Where its a book you can hold in your off hand, that allow to use that skill (which would be universal, and not require any primary or 2ndary proffession) on your skill bar.
So I could be a War/Monk, but still use a Firestorm if I have the Book of Firestorm equipted on my offhand. Of couse, such spell would only be of attribute 1, and you still can only have 8 skills at once, but would be interesting to see some differnt combos.
Of couse, not really expect to see that happening, but I think its a fun idea never the less... much like the skill necklace thing before...

I think this would do alot of group farming, alot of solo farming, with having a crafter/quest for certain books would be fun also.

How can you implement this in such a way that it doesn't affect the PvP side of things? And if it would, how would you incorporate this into PvP?
I like the idea, I love anything that promotes PvE, but I equally dislike hearing people run over how PvE may have an edge that PvP doesnt
Any suggestions?

Well, you could just increase the Balty Faction you need to unlock these certain Elites, say like 10k or something for this elite.
Or, you can unlock it via PvE for PvP.
The books/grimores/etc. would be more fo the PvE yes, but, the skills that come with it could still be obtainble PvP wise. (and of course, if you choose to use the book as a offhand, you can use it in PvP)

/signed. Great idea.
How would PvE get an edge over PvP if it's just a new way to unlock skills?
If equipping it gives you access to a skill, maybe that skill would have the attribute level of your second highest attribute, so people might actually use it, and that would give PvE an edge over PvP.
Unless, of course, you could unlock books for a skill you already know, and the books are added as an offhand, with the list of mods being every skill you've unlocked for a book.
Unlocking a skill with a book would naturally unlock it for use in a book and for normal use.
Possibly 500 for normal skills, 1500 for elites to unlock in a book?

Also, as another idea, it could enable you, as a ranger or something, to find and locate certain pets.
We could find ways to give each class a feel of there own, and there own rewards, but also allowing them to read other classes books (Warrior reading Elementalist, etc.etc.)
Edit:
I dont think the books/scrolls should allow you a certain skill at the lowest level. I think that would be to crappy and cheesy :/
