Henchmen - The strange behaviour
DarkGanni
Hi all, was doing the 2nd 15 attribute quest with hench in zen daijun and noticed the casters and ranger henchies were going in melee range to attack/cast, had this happen before aswell. Anyone else ever had this happen? Thanks.
lightblade
they're using touch skills and stay there after using
Painbringer
This happened to me Saturday the 16th in the afternoon when I was trying to cap Flesh Golem. Every time I aggroed a group both Ranger hencies ran right into the group died right away very annoying. It took me a long time to finally get the elite cap. Ritualist Explosive Creation Build

I had Reyna and Dunham doing that for jungle missions, very annoying as I was using traps and the idea was to have all ranged henchies. It still worked, but not as well as it could have.
I thought perhaps there was some terrain blocking their attacks but there were times when that was definitely not true and yet they were there up in the monster's faces.
Hmmm, maybe Reyna's practicing to be a Ra/Ne touchie? Dunham an IW warrior?

and did we mention sister tai just standing there, or even worse....healing touch the henchie ranger whos tanking, while the warior henchie is runing around like a headless chicken (he does look like this)
cosyfiep
well, I am happy that they now rez the dead in no particular order---was annoying to have to run one healer to the other so they would rez the group, however; the use of the rez signets by the other henchies stilll needs retuning (like when they all try to rez the same person while 2 monks are using rebirth or rez chant......no need to waste the sig then).
I do find it annoying that they argo when I dont want them to, and when I want them to they just stand there even if they are taking damage....oh well, they are henchies for a reason.

I oddly had Little Thom stick himself on the wooden fence near the Yaks in Ice Caves yesterday. Usually when this terrain blockage happens, you can go back to the henchie and manuever him out and around. Well, I did so, and got him in the clear, but he looked befuddled. He would run towards me and then suddenly turn back to the fence as if it were beckoning him. Took a good 3-4 minutes to finally get him to come.

the best was the spirit henchie who bravely ran in to aggro a huge mob while i wasnt moving.... as if hes a leereoy wamo
majoho
also never bring both the spirit and necro henches in factions since your healer will be busy healing them all the time because they sacrifice life (got worse since the latest ritualist update where sacrifice has been raised).
PanGammon
You guys do have a point but my recommendation is to only take henchmen for low class quests like NAGA OIL and a few others. For missions, hard skill caps and att quests stick to players as henchmen have a nasty habit of dying like pathetic losers all the time.............. unless of course you're in Tyria where henchmen can beat most of the game.

ah well, ive played without Rit henchie before, so...

Eve is great if you're a caster and don't like to get aggro because mobs always go for her

I was trying to map the Tahnnakai Temple (Explorable) with my warr last night with an all hench party, and everytime I went for the enemy rit (Brotherhood btw) all henches would follow me up to melee range of target and die. Aidan looked very funny doing this 100% of the time.
In the end I found it easier to run that area solo.
It wasnt like this before, please fix!!

I was waiting for a thread like this to prop up. It happens with all of the henchies that I have taken, its really difficult to survive through the Afflicted when your healer gets killed from the explosions...

They stand next to the player now. I noticed it when I did the same quest with the same henchmen using first my ranger (casters and rangers stayed with me at the back), then with my warrior (casters and rangers all came and stood next to me while I attacked in melee range. Owned by Triple Chop and AoE elementalists. :'(
Scourgey
I just use ranged + 1 warrior henchmen now
Now the only person that rushes is the warrior........ followed 1 second later by the healer henchmen. I swear the healer never used to do this.

I really noticed it doing the same quest. My Monk doesn't want to PuG, mostly because I'm a horrible monk, but thats no reason for Zho to run forward into melee everytime she uses Ignite Arrows or whatever she uses.
It only seems to be certain henchmen though for me. Zho ran forward covering Lukas half the time, but on my Rit who is around Sunjiang District right now, my Ranger henchmen stays as far away from the fight as his/her bow with let em.

Some henchies seem to have this 'habit' of running up close to the target to use range skills.
Often I see Redemptor Karl all too eager to run up to a body just to use Rebirth. The idea that Rebirth is range and will teleport the fallen to safety seems very alien to him. Instead, he rather foolishly run into the mob standing over the body, and teleport 'the one who really does not want to be rez'ed at this time and certaintly not like this' right back into the same surrounding mob. Nice one Karl!

That Ice troll cave. It got position where henchmen constantly get stuck and try manouver out but fail always. I attacked to enemy and expected them to follow but no. Half from Henchmen just goed infinite running loop when they tried to reach other party. Of course my hero was slain so I was stuck because hero who can resurrect was in infinite running loop. So I needed to teleport back to city and start again.

Yesterday i had a funny/bad experience with henchies.
i was doing the Ring of Fire mission.
All went fine - until we got to the first Mursaat Tower with Ether Seal.
Just to remind you: it drains energy.
So, i lured the Jades and the warrior henchies rushed in. Ok thats bad, but whatever...i thought i could manage it anyway. Then came the evil Chain Lightning killing me. All henchies still alive. The managed to kill all but one Jade. Then one would wait to be rezed, right? The problem was: the healer / prot henchies had no energy due to the Tower. And the others did not use their res-sig because the healers were still alive. I waited 5 minutes....the did not move, did not try to res and did not fight the Ether Seal...gg!

Heh, I've had almost the opposite happen. After wasting my res sig on Alessia, she went and ressed Little Thorn. Little Thorn wasted his sig on Stephan. Stephan wasted his sig on Reyna. By then, Alessia had finally recovered enough energy to res the last 2 henchies. I guess my warriors got impatient, which is a shame since Alessia dies from tanking so much. Damn it! Stay behind me!!!!.

at mineral springs, every henchie just stood there near my body doing nothing, just being pummeled to death not even healing themselves, :/ was a pain to cap SoJ

I pretty much henched every mission and quest in Factions with my Assassin. I tried using a longbow to pull the mobs, but seemed like every time the warrior hench would run in and die or need rescuing.
I eventually learned to slowly back up towards the group I wanted to pull until I aggro'd, then ran forward away from the enemies. This would usually stop the warrior hench from charging in on a suicide run.

I'll take henchies over players anyday. Especially in Factions..

Rezzing behaviour of henchies definitely needs tweaking. Healers used to be very gun-shy about rezzing you if you died near a mob. Now if you or a henchie dies right in the middle of a mob, they just run straight in, usually getting slaughtered in the process. As for the rest of the henchies, using their rez sigs during battle is much improved, but they shouldn't use their rez sigs when no hostiles are in range unless nobody alive has a hard rez. But now, they do that all the time. I, or one of the monk henchies, can be in the middle of casting a rez when another henchie will use a rez sig. Now I have to try to race them.
Another henchie oddity I've noticed of late--warriors will often run away from the mob when their health is low, then just stand there instead of using their heal sig. They stand looking confused, like, why am I here again? To use your heal sig, idiot!

Healers aren't res'ing as fast either I noticed.
