Trying to configure a list of absolutely everything my ranger will need.

We Are All Pretty [ugly]

I have a lot of money to spend and I love the ranger profession...

I've decided I want this character to be set up for absolutely any PvE/PvP class, so I've been trying to make a list of every set of armor, every weapon, every elite my ranger will need. My pet of course will be a Dire Crab (red). Keep in mind I haven't really played rangers very often in PvP yet...correct any information I have wrong please..

Here's what I've got so far...

CripShot Ranger
Poisoning Recurve Bow of Fortitude (
Crippling Longbow of Fortitude

Choking Gas Ranger
Vampiric Shortbow of Fortitude (15^50 or 15% Stance)
Sundering Recurve Bow of Fortitude (15^50/15% Stance)

Thumper
Vampiric Hammer of Fortitude
Ebon Hammer of Fortitude / Ice Breaker

Ranger Spiker
Vampiric Hornbow of Fortitude (15^50)
Ebon Hornbow of Forititude (15^50)

Melandru's Arrows Ranger (no experience at all playing this)
Barbed Recurve Bow of Fortitude (15^50)

ViM Trapper (no experience at all playing this)
Insightful Staff of Fortitude

PvE Trapper (minimal experience playing this)
Insightful Staff of Fortitude

PvE Barrager
Vampiric Longbow/Hornbow of Fortitude?? Equipment doesn't matter here, PvE people don't care what bow you use >_>

PvP Barrager
Vampiric Hornbow of Fortitude

Touch Ranger
Milthuran's Staff (have it already)

Oath Shot / Spirit Spammer
Sundering Recurve Bow of Fortitude

As for armor, I assume I'll need a full set of Druid's and a full set of Sentry's, with extra pieces as I need them.

Comments, suggestions, additions?

If you can afford it all, why not just go get it all? I mean...I'm confused as to what advice you are asking for.

You clearly have researched the differant builds that have been done, so...go do it?

I'm sorry, I feel as thought I'm being rude, but I'm sure through a couple days (or even matches) of play with each of your builds you'll easily find what works best for you, right?

You'll also need a Sundering Longbow of Fort for rspiking, and a rotwing recurve with it's +5 energy is rather useful when you're playing cS.

Also, get some hammers for thumping. Other than that, looks fine.

::edit:: Also, if you really have the spare money, get the drakescale and other armors, although it'll rarely be life or death, there was many times in halls against E/A starburst teams that I wished for drakescale..

There's absolutely no way I've listed everything I need...just asking what I missed, because I know there must be a few things :/

Well, settlers bow and the trapper staff would be nice.
Obtainable through the Quest "Blankets for the settlers" in Lion's Arch (the bow) and some other quest in Ascalon City. (The staff).

The bow gives you -2 physical dmg while in stance (the only one doing so) and the staff, along with an Insightful mod, gives you +18 Energy, more than anything in the game. (While health is above 80%, perfect for PvE trapping).

If you plan on using some other preperation than Read the Wind, I'd have a short bow or two (non-barrage builds).

Also, Crippling Mods are more important than Poisoning mods for the crip shot. If you needed to spread poison quickly, then I'd have a short bow with the poisoning mod as well. Three bows are important to a cripper... Longbow for long distance ganking and for hitting fleeing foes, recurve which you'll use for most of the time while crippling, and a shortbow to spread poison and in close range engagements.

For the barrage builds, I would suggest you bring a Flatbow instead of a hornbow if you will have Read The Winds in the area. Otherwise bring a Longbow. Hornbows were theoretically able to do the best dps with Barrage when used in conjunction with Tiger's Fury, but that combo was generally energy heavy and since the TF nerf, it really isn't worth it to use this combo anymore. There is a good thread that discusses the dps of different bows using Barrage that was started by SnipiousMax here:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=136832

The advantage of a hornbow when using TF is explained by Jenosavel on the second page of the thread.

you forgot the pure interrupter with either Punishing Shot or Broad Head Arrows or go with incinary(sp) arrows which kinda acts like spinal shivers, or go with spinal shivers itself with an icy bow...
and for pure spiker perhaps quickshot
for trying everything try unlocking all of the elites first, and perhaps elites of secondary professions as well

and also, before you lock yourself on bows of fortitude try other things, especially defense mods and for PvE maybe bow of monster(dwarf, undead, plan, etc, depends on area) slaying
