First post ever ha. Just joined and just started playing GW, from D2.
Anyways i've been having trouble making money, so i read some of the guides and decided i needed a farming build. Most people suggest a 55Monk which is good cause my only character is a lvl 20 Mo.
But reading all the guides it requires Prophecies skills, i dont have prophecies only factions so is there anyway to get prophecies skills. Or is there another build using Faction skills? Or am I just screwed lol.
Thank You.

Buy Prophecies if you want Prophecies skills. Otherwise use something else with Factions skills (warrior, el/mo, ranger, whatever). There are a lot of builds here in the Farming Board or on Guildwiki but I imagine a lot of them use skills from both campaigns.

yeah, the problem is that the people who wrote the guides are the ones who have been around for a while, so naturally they had owned Prophecies first, and then moved over to Factions.
Other than that, you can read up on some monk builds here on these forums. THen take a gaze over to the first sticky.

since you have just bought the game, i suggest you buy Prophecies.
Prophecies will take you on a great experience and you will get to learn the game and its mechanics much better then factions. factions was kind of thrown together too fast and it remains very empty for PVE content. basiclly it was designed for someone who knows the game already, no matter what ANET is saying about it being a stand alone product.
after you got to know the game and learn you will be able to start farming and find your own style and places.
but prophecies skills and prophecies experience is a must for every GW player.
buying factions without buying prophecies is like buying a good car before you know how to drive
