Okay, attempting to help out a friend whom as a new HP Laptop.
AMD Turion 64 1.6GHz
640 mb Ram
Windows XP SP2
Ati Radeon Xpress 200m
Here's the issue, when she launches the GW client, it will go to start downloading the updates then cut out. She can sometimes get to the character screen if she types fast enough lol. Did attempt to do the -heapsize 320000 switch, but it cuts out quicker. *remember its not getting to the point where it is rendering anything, just to the update screen* She can update it eventually, but shes only downloading for about 30 seconds, and it cuts out. The game just exits, no freezes, no errors etc. Also Tried installing via cds instead of the web client, to no avail, it still dies when updating. -diag switch shows sucessful connections across all ips but 2.
Things I've Tried: Sisoftware Sandra mem test & networking tests - passed
HD Tach - No problems, CPU Burn in for 10 minutes - passed, Clean boot the computer, DX tests, other games the work fine, Drivers are up to date, and the win install is fresh. Im out of ideas. Task Manager shows a commit charge of only 115mb when clean booted, also shows GW taking up 16mb while updating nothing out of the ordinary. Virtual memory is set to win default which has set it at 766mb. Right now going through the motions and reinstalling windows, and see if that changes anything. It does play other games btw. I've tried to rule out all hard ware issues with the lappy.
Let me know if you can think of anything I havent.
Not even able to pass the Update Screen

Sounds like you might want to file a report with plaync. I have a laptop that is similar turion dual core with 1gb of ram and no problems here with installs or updates. if the machine is fairly new and it pass all other test, it sounds like some sort of software conflict. You might try making sure you have the latest ati drivers if you can get them. More then likely youll have to find a version that is modded for a laptop as ati nor nvidia have really made a big effort to push drivers for mobile platforms leaving it up to your Manufacturer. There are however new version available, if you decide to use a new version which will most probably be modded, make sure you have a back up of your working drivers and Make sure you have backups of anything important. If something goes horribly wrong, it might mean a restore, though usually you can get your self back in the game with the original drivers sometimes windows is just to thick to get it right.
