OK, let's break this down...
The level of the spirit determines how much life it has. This really has nothing to do with the amount of damage that the spirit does, but if anyone attacks the spirit, then it will take a little longer for them to kill it.
The numbers in CHanelling Magic represent the rank number in Chanelling Magic. So if you read the number 3 in CHanelling magic, then at Rank 3, your spirit will be level 3, and will deal 2 damage multiplied by the number of seconds that spirit was alive.
Now lets talk about damage. While the spirit is alive, the amount of damage that it will do is based on how long it lives for - up to 30 seconds. When that spirit dies, it unleashes it's attack upon all foes in the area.
Now look at the Damage numbers at the bottom. If you multiply [that] number by the number of seconds that the spirit was alive for, then that's how much damage it will deal. Example:
-If the spirit lasted for 10 seconds, then that spirit will deal 20 damage if you had Chanelling Magic at rank 2-5
-If the spirit lasted for 25 seconds, then that spirit will deal 100 damage if you had Chanelling Magic at rank 10-13
-If the spirit lasted for 30 seconds, then that spirit will deal 150 damage if you had Chanelling Magic at ranks 14-16
When you're looking at that graph, make sure you match up the rows so you can predict how much damage it will do.
Alternatively, you could have tested this skill yourself to find out how the damage works...
