I would like to thank A-net for 624 hours and 6 minutes over the last 4 months. I originally bough Prophecies, but really didnt get much into it, but when Factions came out, i decided to give it another try, and for the last 4 months, i've been completly hooked.
I understand that most people prefer Prophecies to Factions, but i just wanted to publicly thank the Factions team, for doing such an amazing game, if it wasnt for Factions, i dont think i would get hooked on Guild Wars.
And thank u as well for making the mesmer, best fun i've remember having in any game, so, please, keep up the good work.

Agree with OP, and those blizzar-esque comments.. ahhhhh my old LAN party days of SC and D.. Its good to have a developper listen
-New patch, new content, no fixes, i.e. what patches are made for - or so i thought.
-More bugs in each patch, usually as a result of the new content, and no fixes for current bugs, and theres a third game (not counting viet.) coming out.. i know 25 ppl that wont be getting it (most of my clanmates).
They say they listen to the community, but... something is "lost in translation"..

They're learning as they go, and the game is continually a work in progress -- nothing wrong with that.

All I can really say is it's nice to praise anet, they do good work. However the thread starter just sounds like a kid who's overly excited about the fake life he's about to live in nightfall so I don't look at it with any substance. He'd be excited about anything they do.

Great work Anet, I just feel sorry for the Chapter 4 dev team trying to top NightFall...regardless you've continued to best yourselves with each release. Can't wait to see more

Guildwars + Factions (current prices) = 49.99 + 34.99 = 84.98 (and you don't need to own all the chapters to play the game) for 18 months of play
WoW (current price) 19.99 + (18*12.99) = 253.81
Funny, I could have sworn that $253.81 was triple $84.98.
Even if you add in the cost of nightfall it's still WAY less expensive
Prices were taken from outpost.com

Despite some of the less fixable, unfortunate aspects of the game, this is still one of the most fun, most compelling, most well constructed games I have played.
Here's to Anet for proving there are still people making original and really quality games, and for no monthly fee.
Props.

I've been playing GuildWars from the first WPE where we still had those ugly capes that showed on your front and back... rly ugly at that time.
It's rly awesome what Anet has accomplished in only 2 years time... at this point this is the only game I am playing, no other game gives me the feeling that GuildWars gives.
ty Anet for a lovly game

I'll just say this, there has only been a couple games out there, in which I have invested so much time playing. Where I have been willing to sacrifice sleeping, eating, sex, and sanity at the drop of a hat, just so I can keep playing. Guild Wars has been one of those games.
Wtf Its A Monk
I think anet is doing a great job myself. In my opinion they have the greatest and most kind staff there is. (i know from experience getting a week long suspension from Gaile which was taken off minutes later, after I apoligized for my actions through my friend) <3 Gaile Gray. Good luck with everything Anet cant wait to get out of school and try out Nightfall. Collectors Edition FTW

Hehe I have to say I pretty much couldn't stand Factions but the new things they have implimented have made life ingame much easier on the player. I'm glad to see that some of the more sensible ideas are being heard and implimented.
Everyone wants something different and you are going to have upset people no matter what you do but right now they seem to be catering to the masses and that's a great thing. I am still holding off on getting Nightfall till there is a general applause and approval though, but it looks so far to be headed in the right dirrection ^_^
GG Anet!

Yes well done Anet! Even tho theres been a delay for the preview, you kept in touch with the masses. I could imagine one particular game/developer that wuldve just gone offline for a day or two if this happened (WoW, cough)

Great thread Brokenmonkey... I myself started with Prophecies and was absolutely absorbed by it. Factions was a small let down but it was still a good effort. I just spent a few hours on Nightfall this evening and I am utterly excited and GRATEFUL to Anet for doing such an outstanding job with this new chapter.
Thank you Anet- Valkyrian

So far I'm loving every minute of it. The battles are feeling like a battle and not me rolling over a bunch of PvP bots. Some of the foes (not all, so room to improve there) are acting like mobs should. I saw bugs acting like bugs and not like Jade Knights in a different skin! I was pumped! Woot!
The graphics and land are stunning thus far, and I love the music. If I could afford the CE, the music would have sold me alone on getting it.
Loving the heroes and the play options that come with them. Adds a great deal to the game.
Ten hours into it, and I'm not level 20... very nice. New classes are also very fun to play.
So far, very impressed.
Only thing that I hope to see, is the Missions not be timed. Timed missions are for console adventure games, not online games or RPGs. The first mission seemed to be a timed situation like Factions had. Let's leave that terrible timed system behind. It has no place in a stunning addition to the franchise like this.
Very nice Anet, very nice indeed.
Side note: Within a few hours of Nightfall's preview my guild re-filled up and people were actually back on. General opinion was this: "I am already liking this more than Factions." - after hearing (via vent) that a dozen times, we started to laugh about it, cause it really was almost word for word from different people.

^-- Yes my 1st impression to nightfall is amazing, only 1 bad thing.. it doesnt come out until end of october=(
Avarre
I'm glad it doesn't, more time to stock up for it
Great game from what I've seen so far, fully enjoyable. Timed missions aren't my favorite, sure, but so long as only some of them are timed, I don't have a problem with it.
And the proffession changing boss was superb.

I have to agree that Arena.net has been doing a superb job with the Guild Wars games. Prophecies is awesome, and while Factions had some annoying issues, I certainly enjoyed it as well.
I've completed the primary quest/mission line for the preview event on a dervish (nice "Thank you" message. ), and here are some things i've noted:
- Tanned hide squares are rather pricey atm.
- Heroes rule!
- <3 the military rank title.
- Above mentioned title making quests more compelling
- So far, neat plot.
- Heroes rule!
- Awesome landscapes
- Nice flow to things
and of course: Heroes rule!
I just absolutely love heroes. I'm very much so looking forward to being able to use them when the game comes out (and I can use my account, instead of an event-only account created because I have all of my char slots used).
I must say that, with what I have seen so far, I am very pleased. I'm definately looking forward to the game!
(note: for anyone who wondered, the Dervish was level 14.)
brokenmonkey
Yea, I also believe Anet did a great job.
-Heroes=awesome
-Tanned Hide squares= wont be a problem with my material storage!=D
-I also love the Promotions
-Special not on the leveling--
I started Prophecies around december last year, there for I was introduced to quick leveling and being able to be run, then there was factions, which was easy leveling, and locked gates, Now nightfall is my favorite. Slow leveling, with gates. I love grinding for exp, and quests, promotions. SO keep it that way!
Storyline= A lot better
Cut Scenes= A lot cooler, i love the moving mouths, and better acting.
Music- I love the music, and the battle music is so awesome!!
Terrain= Amazing, i love the maze after the Den city.
And EVERYTHING else is soo perfect
SO generally
Nightfall to me is Better then factions. Nightfall to me is Greater than or equal to Tyria.
So thank you Anet for this amazing new chapter, which is not a expansion =)

Life in general is stressful for kids and us adults alike. Guild Wars provides a great enetertainment that lets us "get away from it all" for just a little bit.
Life in general has its ups and downs, we try to get more ups than downs - and GuildWars has definately done that!
Thanks for all that you do, and for giving this almost 40 something gal something to bring her blood pressure down.
Over 1 year of playing, and still going!

PS. If you could find a way for us to purchase Divine Aura/upgrade to CE - it would be great! If I knew then what I know now - I would have gotten the CE.

If there is one thing that ANet has always done, it's listen. They haven't always agreed with the community and we (and by we I mean I) haven't always agreed with them but the thing that amazes me is that they still listen. Despite the many aggrivated posts that gaile and the rest of the ANet staff have born witness to they still listen.
That's pretty damn amazing.

I don't think that thanking a company for making a great game and listening to players "wants" is brown-nosing. Everyone likes to get positive reinforcement. Most threads consist of Anet-bashing and "I want and if I don't get it, you suck".
Gaile and her fellow workers must cringe at the thought of reading through most of those threads.
Keep up the good work Anet - nothing's perfect, but you are closer than most.

Indeed, a-net has been doing a great job mantaining and improving the GW franchise. The great art direction, the fresh ideas (and innovation on business model, of course), the relationship with the community, everything has been above and beyond satisfactory level (a level which most companies can't even touch - see EA, as cited above). Even some players sometimes don't like some of the aspects of the game, I'm pretty sure the team(s) at a-net are doing all they can to make the best possible game for the largest amount of the playerbase.
I also want to express my special congratulations for the Factions team. They were bold, trying to take the game in new directions. If some of these changes didn't bring about such great reactions from the players (ie. challenge missions, elite missions, and perhaps the too-quick leveling), well... c'est la vie. Meanwhile, their artistry remains, at least in my opinion, unparalleled in GW games thus far. The multi-storied buildings of kaineng, the waterfalls and cathedral-trees of echovald, and especially the jade sea (which I have said many times, and I repeat, is the most amazingly creative and artistic work I've seen in a computer RPG) will forever remain in my mind as remarkable environments, something few other game environments can achieve (some of the environments in prophecies did it, and it appears nightfall is also going to have similarly great moments).
We love your work a-net; we have come to expect greatness coming out of your hands, and everything we will be satisfied once again with Nightfall. Keep up the good work; never let the ball drop; keep giving us this type of creative and ever-evolving material and we'll remain forever attached to your work. And thanks again for making these great games.
