Ive been thinking about the customizable hero henchies...
and it reminds me very heavily of the FFXII's upcoming gambit system:

or maybe the older secret of mana for some of you SNES fans >.>
I cant help but feel that Nightfall's promise of more RPG related goodness holds true.
Heros in Nightfall: Gambit System in FFXII? (or secret of mana...)

Actually FFXII Gambit system is alot more complicated, and effective also. But it does have alot of similarities, and I love it. I just wish there was someway to take it back into Prophecies and Factions. All you need is one good buddy to have a completely competent team now.
I'm so glad you can order the heroes and henches to stay put now, no more walking into hazards and dying.

I wish Nightfall's Hero system worked like the Gambit system. That'd just be awesome. Cloudpiercer's right, though, Gambits are quite a bit more complex. They're almost like (to quote one article) "a very rudimentary programming language". I'd say scripting language is closer to the mark, but you get the idea. You can put together some very complex behaviour patterns with Gambits.
As basic as it is, though, I am pleased with the way the Hero system seems to be shaping up so far. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow night. And who knows, maybe ArenaNet will expand on it in the future. Add more modes, or an option to somehow create your own modes, or something.
