Are there any agents in the preview? If not, what will happen to my mini-pet from PC Gamer after the event is over?
I just want to get my pet over to a real character that I actually plan on playing.

There are no agents in the preview. The mini-pet will vanish and once you've gotten NF you have to redo the quest and you'll get it again.
If you want to get the pet to your main character you will have to wait till NF is out.

The Pointless
You will not, I repeat WILL NOT lose your account. You will keep your character after the event, but everything on that character will be reset to their defaults (level, inventory, armour etc) when Nightfall goes live. To get back into the game when it does go live, simply add a key from the full game.
