Heroes in Cantha? Tyria?
HR-Galaphile
Not an easy question i know.
Once you buy nightfall... Will you be able to bring your heroes over to other continents?
I'm guessing that you will... Since so far there has been a ton of interaction between games.
But if you know otherwise please state and prove plz and ty.

It's likely, but I don't think anybody knows for definite to be honest...
You've probably noticed by now that the interface changes are for the client altogether, as opposed to just Nightfall, so I think it's likely.

Don't think it will unless they give access to Tyrian and Cathan characters that only have P and F installed. I don't think it would be fair?

Someone posted in NF forum that Gaile said no but lets all bitch and hopefully this oversight will be fixed.

Gaile Gray was asked this very question and she said she would check her email and ask, and get back to us tomorrow.

My college level smarts says........... In the near future, heros are only going to be based in nightfall. The time it would take to code factions and the Orginal campians, would require a ton of time and money. Maybe like 3-6 months later you might see heros in other campians when GW will become stale again.
And why would they right now???? they have a hot new product (nightfall) and the hero feature alone with convince more people to buy nightfall, because it is the only place to get heros. If they gave it to the other ones right now it would take away from there nightfall only hype and could lower there sells. They want everyone to be playing nightfall soon and not factions with heros.

Uh...how about they make it so you need Nightfall to unlock the feature but support it in the other two?
I think you missed a logic step in what we're suggsting.
And as the player base only gets spread thinner they will need this to alow players to play thorugh the entire GW world. Not really but it'll make it much easier for most.

I think it's a great idea. Take your Tyrian or Canthan to Elona, unlock the heroes for that character, then they can follow you everywhere. No more crappy pugs!
ischuros
i wouldnt like it, and personally i really dont like the hereos. I liked the idea, but in the WPE, i p;ayed it through only with heroes/henches(when you need 8) and only once played with a guild member. Gw was supposed to be about co-operation and now it's boiling down to a single player game with some online tendencies. I will buy Noghtfall, i had great fun in Elona, but i wouldnt like to see heroes in otehr parts of the game world.
My 2 cents.

And yeah, raca137 completely missed the idea here.
Age
You mean you can't take your Prophecies char. into Nightfall I thought they were the heros?
The Pointless
We are talking about the Hero system which involves the unlocking of story characters to fight in your party, Age.

Edit: Note you can command henchies in Tyria and Cantha at this moment, so maybe the answer is yes.
The Pointless
Heroes are not just henchies. For a start, you can actually give them Res Sig, a skill foolishly omitted from many a henchman's build.
>Henchmen are idiots<

>Henchmen are idiots<
Carth`
All henchmen have a res sig, except for the monk/rits, who have a reusable res. So you can guarantee henchmen have res, whereas I've been in so many PUGs where somebody didn't.

I just hope there is at least one hero for every proffession, including heros with primary rit, and primary assassin(of course you can only get them if you have factions linked to your account or somehting).

i am quite sure talon silverwing has rebirth. hmmmmmmmm
i might have been on drugs.
henchies>Pugs
i played most of factions with henchies. and the odd few time i went with guildies or pugs it was an almighty mess and took ages.

As to your statement about Henchies being greater than PUGs, I completely agree. Back before anyone saw the value of Assassins in PvE (which sadly very few do, even now), I took my original PvE Assassin/Monk through the Factions campaign with henchies, except for the rare occasion when I teamed up with a guildmate or friend. That's also how I know that every single mission in the Factions Campaign is indeed henchable.

On the original topic: while I don't personally see any major problems with allowing Nightfall players to drag their Hero players along with them to the previous, and possibly future, chapters, I can see how problems with this could eventually arise. I suppose it is a question that only the passing of time can answer.
Infinity^
Well, you can only take a max of 3 your own heros with you on a mission cant you? So having Heros in Tyria and Cantha excludes 'player cooporation' no more so than being able to have a full hench team.

Since the Hero system is a core change to the ui I can't see them being Nightfall only. Yes you should have to own and travel to Nightfall to unlock them, then they travel with your char wherever you go.
If they do turn out to be Nightfall only (as in locked inside the continent) then I will have to think long and hard about purchasing Nightfall. The hero system is just too useful and would make playing with ordinary hench in the other chapters a real drag, thereby reducing my enjoyment of chapters 1 and 2.

My educated guess is that it will work just like the storage upgrade in factions. Once you unlock a hero he will be available to you anywhere you travel.
About Heros replacing Humans... I don't think so. Did not use the heros even in the preview if guildies were available.
The upside is you will always have Heros available to fill in gaps in your party.
The downside is that you may have more difficulty finding or joining pugs.

The hero system will be supported in future chapters right?
Aphraelyn
Actually...I don't think that heroes will be part of Cantha or Tyria because they are well...not part of the storyline.
Seeing as how you gain heroes as you progress through the story and how they're based on what path you choose to take...I don't think that heroes will be carried back...
If they do employ the hero feature in future campaigns, I think they'll probably make new heroes for you to pick and choose as you progress through the storyline rather than let you take your current NF heroes over into the new regions, no?
Just what I think. =P

As a side note, while I liked playing with Heros and they're definitely much better than your run of the mill henchie, I still prefer living breathing people. Though people can be unpredictable, a person is still better than AI in most instances IMHO.
sabretalon
The heros will not replace real people, in teams that like to work as a team! What they will offer though is a better alternative to the henchies for filling your team or a PUG who's only contribution is to join then go AFK!
There are some tactical uses for your heros as well! Take an healer with you in a difficult area and order them to stay put! You head out killing things, if you die you give them new orders!
I'm not sure what extra work there is to be done as far as bringing heros to previous chapters? The data will load for the AI each time you load the maps just like it does for henchies. You do not collect your heros like henchies you choose the ones you have access to from your list. So when you go to an area, the system will load your char and it's details (level, skills etc..) it would do the same for heros as well as real people, the only extra bit will be the AI file for the hero.
As for being part of the storyline! Assassins where not part of the story in tyria and yet they came over. I was under the impression that the story of the 3 chapters so far are taking place at the same time! So sins and rits doing missions in tyria was not part of the storyline hence the message you get when you are starting a tyrian mission with a rit or sin on the team!
As you go to other areas you get the messages that you are seeing things from an historical point of view!

I have to concur with some of the above views, Hero's will only be collectable from quests in the Nightfall campaign but once obtained stay with the character whichever continent they are on, it's the only sensible solution - otherwise everyone with characters from the previous two campaigns would have to ditch their hard worked characters in order to get one with hero companions.

1) Hench/Hero coding isn't linked to the environment. Its linked to players and enemies. I've never seen a henchie tune a henge portal or carry a vision crystal. They just follow you around and activate skills. Heros do the same thing so I see no reason why they wouldnt work in Tyria or Cantha.
2) The enhanced controls were available in Tyria and Cantha during the preview so the coding is already there. I doubt they would leave 3 empty "hero face" boxes in the inventory screen and not let you fill them. That would just be tacky.
3) I want the heros.... NOW!!!!! My WoH Monk hero made me giddy.

I wish they had kept the controls Nightfall only, but oh well. Btw, it doesn't matter if Assassins don't 'belong in Tyria, but they came over anyway'. Thats a player, not an NPC, which the Heros are.
They don't belong in Tyria or Cantha, because the storyline would have to be changed.
I like my Prophecies very much, kthx.

I followed this thread in search of an answer to my question...
I have a Tyrian character. If I get her to Elona, and she unlocks heros there, will she be able to take them back to Cantha or Tyria?
Today is 30th of November. Does anyone know for a fact if heroes will be enabled for transfer in other continents as well?
Thanks all :-)
