Well now that eles have the power to control some of the damage handed out do you think mantas will start being used?
I tried using Stone Striker with Mantra of Earth in PvP it is ok considering how many mele players are in RA right now you usually get great energy management and a good 40% or so off of attacks.....its still unreliable though.
But in PvE saaaaaaaaay....UW you would be getting just as much energy as a 55 monk and with armor of earth im sure you would be taking less damage than an enfeeble warrior....add in a few small heals and a few damage spells, maybe obsidian flesh and you got a solo for at least the chamber...
Waddya think? Would this ever be worth using?
Hmm control damage type...

wards have always been able to control damage, as has blind. In fact, Elementalists are one of the best classes for mitigating damage due to wards, snares, blinds, speed buffs, etc.

I really don't think that's what he's talking about...
Being able to force the type of damage you recieve is an excellent idea. If damage type is a known quantity, you can be more specific about buffs. The Mantra's (like he mentions) are a perfect example.
As is using those silly element specific armour types. (Yes, I was one of the silly people who thought it was a good idea to own all armour types).

Waddya think? Would this ever be worth using? Of course. This and stoneflesh aura have created a "godly" ele tank.
Obsidian Flesh
Serpents Quickness
Kinetic Armor
Stoneflesh Aura
Stone Striker
Storm Chaser
Aura of Restoration
Armor of Earth
Immunity to spells, decent healing, great energy management, and you need to take over 500 non armor ignoring damage to actually take "points" of damage, condition degen would be the only threat. In addition, glyph of concentration and ward of stability can be subbed in for anti KD/interrupt. The only actual threat I see is wildblow, ending serpents quickness, and with it, obsidian flesh. If it didn't require all 3 guild wars chapters, it could replace the 55 monk in all farming places.

I don't see the point in using that, when theoretically you could grab a ranger, bring greater conflag, and get the same (albeit bad) idea.

Stone Striker + Mantra of Earth does not suck. Not only does it remove Orders from your target, but its also straight up percentile based damage reduction with energy management.
Great for stopping spikes, as its an instant cast. (or can be maintained)
