The Chef Quest
Lady Lozza
Well what can I say, this is the last quest in my log book, and I want to finish it, but I can't seem to get Iboga Petals. Do they only drop from a specific level Iboga?
Feminist Terrorist
I looked it up on wiki and they drop from beautiful and fanged iboga. No mention of specific level.
Lady Lozza
Argh, I've been killing Iboga, beautiful and fanged, like crazy and haven't had any dropped. Even tried to buy for 1k each since I've more money than I know what to do with, and no one has them
Griffonclaw
i've had quite a few drop...
Shadowfox1125
Heh, I asked my guildies for that one..
Drop rates seem kinda low.

Former Ruling
I've gotten 10 over the course of the event.
Gave some out in the town you get the salad in lol.

Getting the stuff for that quest is maddening. Just keep map-traveling into and out of Kamadan (the the main city you get to after the first quest) and killing the Iboga. Will eventually get the petals. (First go to 9'O clock, then 2'O clock.) This and the kebab were a PAIN.
OT: Created a totally sweet-looking, killer red-head D/P. Will miss her after the week.

any one know where you can get the drake meat - I've killed loads of irondrake and nothing drops....
mike_carton
Off the Great Hall, go towards the water. If you walk around and let a drake come attack you at the water's edge, it tends to drop the meat. Otherwise, it's just luck. The drake outside Kamadan and Great Hall (in that river) are the only hope.
Shadowfox1125
Outside Beknur Harbor, near the 'castle' area where the Corsair are, are 3 drakes. Also, that area is a great place to farm Sunspear points. Just talk to the Sunspear Scout and get the blessing. Get the Corsair, Insect, Plant, and Scale ones and everything you kill (only corsairs, insects, plants, and scales are there) nets you a point.

I personally think quests like this suck... Anet, don't seek inspiration in L2 or RO or Mu.... Sunspear Marshal, kill 5k mobs? Chef quest, go look for a drop that doesnt occur too often? Please.... gimme a break, I feel like I've logged to wrong game...
I got drake meat from a Drake after a while. Same goes for the rest of the drops nessesary. They drop rarely but from the obvious moobs (drake, scale, Iboga)

Iboga petals are really easy to get, the training area has dozens of low level ibogas that drop petals. Bumped onto them when exploring, killed them all, got 4 petals :b
Only part that was problematic was the drake part, but it was rather easy in the end when I found a place to look for them.. off the 2nd monster. (There is some ~6 drakes in the river at Plains, btw)

We really can't say anything about that yet, even the Commander-rank isn't required for progress in starter island. I'd think that the points are much easier to get in the real deal, and even then I don't think the title is meant to be maxed by everyone, nor having it maxed will be a requirement for completing the game, just like having Master Cartographer or Protector titles aren't required for progressing.
UndeadRoadkill
I could never get petals the whole event no matter how many I killed. Skale fins were fairly easy to come by, and I picked up drake flesh eventually.

LISTEN: When your level is High enough (10-12), SOLO Irontooth Drakes + Ibogas (ANY LEVELS). Do it WITHOUT Henchies or even HERO. Champ's Dawn has ALOT of Iboga and 2 Drakes JUST OUTSIDE. Do it like solo-farming. I made 35k outta those :P Heh... Do it repeatedly. Keyword: SOLO.
Spending 1hr will get you like 10 Chunks of Drake Meat & 20-30 Iboga Petals :P:P:P Opps... Too bad i can't keep the money

true, its starting to feel like a korean mmo and that's very disappointing ... quests that are disconnected to the main storyline and add to that they don't even reward you with SKILLS like Prophesies did. To be honest, I skipped all quests that I could in Cantha finding them boring, tedious, repeptative and absolutely unnnecessary. At least in Prophesies the SKILL rewards made you want to do them.
months back i posted about factions having been done the lazy way. looks like nightfall wasnt thought out much either.

They're side quests because they aren't part of the main storyline. That's the whole point of them.
Granted, the chef quest is rather random, but technically it's still within the realm of a Sunspear's duty. I quite like the combination of kill a target for objective and the collection quests... Ascalon got boring with 100 'kill this Charr' quests.

Agreed.
Quest variety would add alot of needed and much wanted complexity to PvE. I especially like the idea of quest decisions affecting future quests (rumor... but still)

They dropped from the level 1/6 Ibogas just outside Champion's Dawn. So I went outside and wiped the first pull by myself, easily. Got em both in ~ 5 mins.

btw does anyone know what the salad did? I had enough materials to test both the soup and kobab but didn't find two more petals for the salad.
Soup = +1 health regen for ten minutes
Kobab = +5 armor for ten minutes

Actually shortly after complaining about this, I walked outside to the Cliffs and two dropped immediately. 3 days I spent hunting the stuff! Go figure... Drake meat and skales I had in copious quantities by the end of the weekend.

The salad didn't do anything, it was a non-usable quest item, and it'll probably stay that way since Nightfall got a teen rating, although usable iboga salad might've made it past the ESRB.
