The Real question about Heros..?

I think the thing that will be a largest factor for many (who aren't sure about buying nf) are the Hero henchmen. I frankly wonder too if, heros will be useable in other expansions(prohp and factions) I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they do because it would be bliss + if they don't impliment that its like you never bought nightfall in the first place =/. And now i know some people migt say that the heros shouldn't work in other expansions because it would give nf users an unfair advantage but, heros are like THE important feature of nightfall with their extreme customizablity, i think its only right that if we paid $50 to buy this game we should be able to use them whenever, wherever we want.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

My problem with heroes is that they're too good and will detract from social aspects of the game. I've seen VERY few "LFGs" in the Preview event. Maybe I'll have to coordinate with my alliance some more when Nightfall gets here, but I'm seeing Heroes as the "Death of the PUG"

Which solves a couple of problems for me personally.

If I could I would have henched my way through both games.

I'm sick to death of joining a party to have 2 or 3 people just leave mid way through a mission. This frustrates me to no end and makes me want to stop playing the game.

Thats the way it was for both preview events. Either you're playing with a friend or you're playing with a henchie. This is from what I gathered. Also you can only have 4 heroes in your group(correct me if I'm wrong) So you will either have to fill it up with henchies or real people. PuG will never die. D:<

Do you realize how little the casual player actually ever played with other people to begin with? And heroes + you only account for half of a max group.

No, no one knows the answer. But I'm sure you'll hear much speculation and many opinions.

It would be nice if they did go to other continents but we'll just have to wait til it goes live unless Anet wants to tell us. If they can't go to other continents; those empty slots at the top of the inventory screen are going to be annoying....

Hopefully Heros won't screw with us like Henchies do about taking all of the green drops everywhere. I have played both games with henchies and never received a Green drop killing a high level boss. This seems to be a complete joke to me.

Since you share inventory with the Hero you should be able to get his drops as well.

I've gotten atleast 40 greens with a team of 7 hench. But they were all the crappy Grenth's Footprint greens.

You actually got the greens? D< We barely even get any (1-2) in a 5-man from the pre-SF area because our one healing hench steals. I'm pretty sure it will only be with Nightfall, because the heroes are from Elona.

My gut feeling is that we'll be able to take our heroes with us. They seem to have been heavily integrated into the interface, and they more or less appear to be "part" of our characters.

Plus, I think they'll help PUGs rather than harm them. As another poster already pointed out, you can only take a limited number (3) of your own heroes with you, so in 8 person areas, the other four slots will have to be filled with henchmen (blegh) other players, or one other player and their three heroes.

This is what I think we're going to start seeing more of. PUGs will be a lot less hassle because, assuming the other person has Nightfall, you only have to find and deal with one real person. This will make getting a PUG a lot quicker, and it'll definitely make it easier to deal with when you're out in the field. Having to try to keep seven strangers in line, with most of them acting like children and not listening to a thing you say, is a huge pain in the ass. Dealing with only one stranger will be infinitely more reasonable. It'll be much easier to make plans of attack, etc. No, it won't be as good as a full group of eight mature, coordinated players but we all know what the chances of getting one of those in a PUG is.

...and that's just fine with me. I played through like 95% of Prophecies with henchies; usually because to try to get a group together is like pulling teeth. This is especially true when you get into the higher and elite areas of the game. People won't a certain party, and are not willing to deviate from what they read on the wiki and accomodate another character. I say hooray for heros, they are the social outcasts best friends.

Although, if the game loses it's social appeal, it could very well kill the game, too. It's a good thing that it's only an option, and not the only choice.

Well, they did add the slots to the other chapters, so there's a good chance we'll be able to take our heros where ever we go.

What I'm really wondering is, how will the heroes' access to skills be dealt with in the full release? The way it works in the preview, I think they're VASTLY overpowered with access to all the skills on my UAX account.

I've been seriously playing around with my hero builds, and they got good enough to win most combats without me. I just put the full party flag near a group of foes and watched them and the henchies battle while I sipped my tea. They tore through almost anything.
