Heroes: "do not use skill" option
Juicey Shake
I like that you can queue up a skill and have a green check to symbolize it will be used as soon as possible, but could we have a red X usable to signify a DO NOT USE THIS SKILL?..
It would make running heroes with scenario specific skills like Shock or Heal party very nice. Simply disable the skill usage until you need it, queue it up, and then put it back on disable.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned.. I searched, found nothing.. as far as I know this is not in game and has not been suggested.

I've been thinking exactly the same thing during the preview event. There were several times I wanted to pack a skill which I didn't want heroes to use except on special occasions. It's be great if we had the option to restrict the hero from using one or more skills (it'd be better if we could disable more than one at a time) on his own and only use them when we tell him to.

Yeah I gotta say that I completely agree. They're so stupid it's a pain in the butt... STOP DOING THAT I said. It was pretty stupid.

I've also made such a thread somewhat earlier in the suggestions forum but no one seemed to care about it. Sadly.

uh-huh. That'd be nice. I'm thinking right mouse click to deny usage, left mouse click to force usage. Click again whichever button you had clicked to return skill to AI control.

Yeah, well hero's aren't going to have perfect AI since they have to be able to use everything in the game. If you don't want a specific skill to be used at inoporutne times... don't bring it maybe?

Good idea. I didn't come across any specific times when I would have needed such an option, but I can think of such situations occuring.

This would be very useful, aswell as an option to always use skill - they don't use mantra of recall EVER :|

/signed, I'd like to disable all the henchies res signets except one, that way they ALL wouldn't stop what they were doing to res if someone died.

i think....
we should be able to prioritize attacks based on what order we place them on the bar.
Skills closer to the left would be prioritized over skills on the right.

I gave Koss a warrior build using evis & axe rake( forgot which one), and he kept using axe rake first, because there was lesser adrenaline. THen he used evis....
I gave koss a dolyak signet (20 second long), bonetti defense, drunken blow, desperation blow build and he never used bonetti defense.

Now the bright red is just valid now as there isn't a red class, it may require its own section of the interface the way I see it now/the way I drew it out is...
default = @, use any time the AI sees fit
right click once, get a number, starting with 1. This will be labeling those skills to be used in that order once all are ready. Perhaps multiple colors or something to denote multiple combos.
right click a second time and get <75 again <50, again <25, telling this character to use these skills when they have less than that percentage of health themselves.
And of course, right click a fifth time to get a big red X over the skill in the tiny AI bar, denoting it to not be used by the AI at all.
Of course, if they could just teach the AI how to use skills I would be happy as a tick, since my suggestion is more a stopgap solution to some character types builds....

How do you control your hero, to STOP them from using a skill? And no, use another skills isn't an option, you might not want them to do anything, because it would be a waste of adren or energy.
Nevin
Yeah like Koss, Theres times Frenzy is okay. That time is not while in a group of 7 corsairs butt whipping you.

Useful if I have a melee heavy team to go with my Paragon's Anthem of Flame, but don't want my ranger to keep lagging behind the team (and shout range) because she's casting a spirit.
Or to keep those Mo/Mes from casting Parasitic Bond after Inspired Hex.

I wanted to post a new thread about it now but found this one so i'll just post here.
I wanted to suggest exactly the same thing as OP + an additional nice option, here's my post ::
___
One very simple feature has to be added to the hero control system : ability to click on their bar and mark a skill with a big red 'X' to make him NOT use this skill. And make it possible to disable multiple skills with it.
This would be actually more useful than making them use a certain skill. It would enable making more interesting builds for them and to give a hero a hard-res skill (they stop fighting and rez someone immediately which causes disasters)
Another problem about their AI - heores tend to run and stay in front of me instead of a little behind (like henchies) and they aggro monsters i want to avoid.
Also during normal combat they tend to stay very close to each other and receive huge area damage (for example from dervish mobs). They can't spread out and will just die.
Solution :: add a couple FORMATION buttons, which would work when no flags are set. They should work on the whole team of heroes+henchies to make it simplier.
The 'formations' could be some simple things like "spread out", "gather around me", "stay behind", "attack formation" (melee forward, casters stay with me, healers back. this one may be a little too much to ask for)
With those 2 features the hero system would be Purrrr-Fect! No need to ask for more.

lol as in rez when I tell you too not in the middle of a big F**K Off battle! lol Yea. I agree with that...
left click check use (training),
right click don't use.
The heroes do learn what to use eventually... But it takes a good bit of time training, but there is not a way to keep them from doing something...
Like the monk using Vigorous spirt when it is not needed... ect... that kind of thing... Or Mending till all regen is gone... BAH silly heroes... I finally had to just remove some skills to get them to stop using it.

this would be great especially for hard res. You could disable it until it is needed then switch it on so they wouldnt res in the middle of a fight.

/signed for disabling skills.
Though putting this feature in is NOT AN EXCUSE for Anet to not fix some of their AI issues, like trying to "Heal" a person being spiked with Vigorous Spirit.

I think that they should have a stronger AI on the heroes so they know when to use certain skills. For example when to heal and when to spam a skill.
I put cleave as my heroes elite and he actually spammed it when it came available, but he didn't heal until he was almost dead.
