Will the Paragon have wings in-game?

Mounts seem pointless in a game where you can simply go to any city or outpost of your choosing.

however, in the PC Gamer article, they mentioned that, in what I believe was an end-game area, there were areas that were only accessible by being swallowed by a giant wurm. You would then take control of the wurm (complete with a new skillbar) and use it to navigate the area only it can survive in. That's probably the closest thing to a mount you'd see in a game like this. Not sure how many areas will haev that either, could only be one, might even be in a mission area.

as for the armor, I think the animation for wings is suppose to show on the casting animation. Its likely it wasn't comleted for the preview event. It was also mentioned in the PC Gamer article, so I hope to see it in-game.

Or perhaps the wings will become part of the animation after the (seemingly traditional) act of "ascending" (or whatever it will be called) in Nightfall. Sort of like an added incentive to ascend. Though that's unlikely, since other professions would clamor for a similar treatment.

I doubt the armor will have wings, personally. But who knows. Paragons are supposed to be the gaurdian angels of the Elonian people.

But what I want to see more is a helmet. I don't like the little floating jewels, I rather have a helmet similar to the other Sunspears. If there's a set 15K or Fissure armor that opts to give you a helmet instead of a jewel, I'd go for that. But that's just a hope, I don't expect to see it since off the top of my head I can't think of any profession whose headgear changes.

I would love to have a helmet for my Paragon like the other sunspears as well. The recycling of ele's headgear for Paragon is rather...meh.

Agreed. Most classes do seem to have 15k headgear these days, but the change isn't as dramatic as silly gem-thing to helmet... yet. We can always hope .

On the people saying they don't want wings - wouldn't it be a simple compromise to have some armours with wings and some without? Not everyone has the same ideas as to what looks silly. Personally, I find the Prophecies glads to be silly*, but I still see people wearing it (both basic and 15k) even though Canthan armours with the same benefits have been available for some time now, so I can only conclude that other people have different tastes than I do .

As long as you aren't forced into looking silly yourself, who cares how silly other people may choose to look?

*I even took the risk of salvaging a SupVigor to get rid of the last piece. For the record, I lost it.

I'd really like to see Ascalonian Armor changed to be more like Canthan armor, where you can have the look you want with the function you want. My warrior is named Pliskin of Ascalon, and I'd love to use the Grotto Ascalonian Armor.

Hopefully the ability to transfer armor functions is appicable to Ascalonian armors at the very least.

But paragon helmet, that's what I want to push most for! There's gotta be something better than the floating jewels. Though I can't think of any sort of headgear they can use that isn't used already. Maybe they could have "crowns", helmets with open tops? I dunno, I'm no artist.

Wings? Who really knows.. they aren't going to give everything away in the WPE.

Is it just me or does that assassin armor in the URL he posted look like a cheap version of fissure? (The blades, not the chest/leg design)

From what little we've seen of the new armor designs, I haven't been too impressed. The warrior armors look similar to what we have now, the ranger armors look like nothing new, the mesmer armors aren't much of a change, the monk armors have the same basic design to them as what we got in Factions, and assassin armors mostly seem to remind me of Solid Snake's body suit.

The Necromancer armor is probably the most unique looking compared to what's already availible. The puffy pants are something new from the tight leather, at least.

And the elementalist females just keep on getting sluttier. By the fifth chapter of the game, they'll probably be nude if the trend continues.

it would be cool if anet gave people "unique" rewards IF they do all the quests in abbodons(spelling ) new elite area
or something to that effect. Elite quest rewards! with armor upgrades:
wings = paragon
halo = monk
real plant growth = ranger

i cant think of the other professions but u get the idea

Special additions to classes for completeing something like the new elite mission on that class would indeed be rather cool.

To comment on the mounts thing: They would not be pointless in a game that allows instant travel, because mounts wouldn't have to be about transportation. They could, as with the worms, be tools for navigating certain areas of the game. Or, they could even be skills you take with you, like charm animal, that would cause you to have a mount while they're equipped that provides some sort of abilities/bonuses/penalties/whatever. There are more creative ways to implement such things than simply having them make you move faster.

As for wings, I think having them on armor would be a bit too extravagant. And anyway, paragons aren't supposed to be actual angels. It's more of a metaphorical thing, which is probably why they briefly show the wings when they use some skills. The unleashing of certain powers causes their divine nature to show through for a moment, or something. I think it's cooler that way, than having them run around with huge, bulky wings on their backs all the time.

Or maybe give Paragons a gaul helm? You know - like the one Asterix wears.

Oh, I'd *really* like a helmet for Prophecies 15k gladiator's armor. WTF? 17 months of a helmetless armor set? Not good.

You could even just leave it as 'regalia'. It's a fairly broad term.

Wings, floating while casting AoE or Chants and a New White Dye all would be excellent additions.

However I guess will have to wait and see.
Although the wings could all be a marketing thing, Ill pretend for now.

The helm from the Krytan armor set looks sweet with the 15k Glads armor, the layered effect of the helm goes with the layered armpiece.

The Realm of Torment is a region featured in the Nightfall campaign, but it is not located in Elona itself, but in the Mists, accessed through a portal in Elona.

Supposedly, the Realm of Torment is the realm of Abaddon, the fallen god. He was exiled to this place by the five Gods of Tyria. From here he seeks to gain back control and spreads evil into the world of the mortals, eventually trying break from to his "prison cell".

To stop the Nightfall, players have to venture into this most hazardous area to defeat the evil forces.

It is revealed by the Reaper of the Bonepits in the Underworld that the Realm of Torment is a division of the Underworld where the most wicked go to spend eternity in torment.

Anyone else hoping you get to see Shiro while you're there? He's supposedly banished to his special corner of hell, isn't he? It'd be great if he was an assassin boss you could skill cap an elite from.
