Cool, there's no need for the rest of us to go to the in-game store to listen to them then :-) You've got the soundtrack..

I thought Nightfall's music was 1235.365 x 10 ^ 3,124 times better.

Nightfall's opening theme I find kinda... meh. It's good yes, but it sounds kinda generic like I've heard it somewhere else before. I thought the prophecies opening theme sounded more unique.

I wish anet would give us the option to pick our own login screen.

Prophecies was good and it gives me a bit of nostalgia to hear old Ascalon tunes every once in a blue moon, Factions never impressed me, but I really like the Nightfall music

You might have heard it in several of the sequences in Ultraviolet. We were talking about htat in another thread.. Some of the parts are almost exactly like the music in Ultraviolet. I believe that one scene that had it was when they were driving in the truck towards the Arch Ministry. You'll notice it on Nightfall's opening credits about 10 seconds in or so..

There is a bit of grand sounding brass or something in the Nightfall login music that for the first few notes always reminds me of the Tristram theme in Diablo. I might be crazy, however. None of my friends seem to agree.

Oh man, this is awesome! I was just thinking to myself how I miss the prophecies login screen, where your characters stood at a crappy camp and the one you selected ran forward. That and the music really gave it a grand, epic adventure feel to me.

i miss the crappy camp.

the new login sure is nice. I truly hated Faction's login- I dont think every single character is worthy of being put on a pedistal. And that stupid whale... good riddance Faction Login. Even after I got my beefy video card, the water still looked like Jello.

If you just leave the loginscreen on it cycles through the main themes of all the chapters

When it started going it reminded me of Farcry's theme tune for some reason.

What pushed me over the line in choosing to buy GW in the first place was the opening background and the music. I thought if this is a taste of Gw then I HAVE to have it!
I miss seeing it.

edit: I am referring to what I assume was Factions theme since I have never seen a 'campfire scene'.

What I think I hear is from Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. There's a four-note sequence that follows the same pattern as part of the opening theme to that game. The first time I heard it, I jumped. But on the fifth note, Jeremy takes it off into a different direction, and it's not even close after that. There are only 13 notes in a Western scale, and with millions upon millions of compositions, it's natural that there will be similarities from time to time. But yes, I did hear that 4-note sequence too.

For those with DirectSong, you can change which songs play. Locate your guildwars.ds file and mess around with it. Don't forget to make a backup.

In some countries, it's customary to count [x]2 (where [x] is the tonic) as distinct from [x]1, giving 13 notes on a chromatic scale. Typically, though, you're entirely correct. Boo Gaile . Seriously though - thanks for letting me know about the cycling themes - is there any way to manipulate the order they play in (for those of use without Direct Sound packs)? The Nightfall theme is great, but it's a little to Bombastic Action Movie for me to hear more than once or twice a day..... No offence at all intended - that I can stand to hear a tune even once a day means it's really pretty good!

I know that after the Nightfall themesong, you will get the same music which played in the Pre-sear of Prophecies, but not the actual Prophecies themesong. Do I have to wait longer then if I want to hear the Prophecies themesong?

Not for free, unless you have your prophecies preorder - it should be on that CD.
Otherwise, you can buy the soundtrack from directsong.
