Sickles?

Hello,

I am relative new to the game, and i used to have a sickle with around 18 dmg but my friend that has been playing a lot told me they are only good with a certain ammount of damage, what damage is that?. Also are the sickles that ppl buy all white no mods??, are there even blue, purple or gold sickles?, and most important why do people want them?. Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

People don't want to buy sickles unless they have at least 6-24 damage with a very low req. People buy white sickles and you can get blue, purple, and gold sickles. People want sickles because they look really cool.

actually as of now im pretty sure purple and gold sickles dont exist yet if you can find one let me know because im dang sure they dont exist

They do exist, any item in the game can come in blue, purple, or gold. I have seen a gold sickle, one of my guild mates got one from a drop and bought 3 sets for FoW armor after selling it. Sickles are rare the way it is, so finding 1 that is purple or gold has about the same chance as a max damage req 8 crystaline +15%^50% 10/10 sunder adn +30 health in it when you identify it. I don't know if it is true but I was told by several people that there has only been 3 max damage sickles ever found (please don't flame me thats just what I have been told lol).

Personally I like my serpent axe because it matches my armor (dragons armor).

Sephis Axe (or Razorstone, it's cheaper then a 15^50 Sephis) are even cooler ^^

Sickles are worth something? I've found at least 10 and salvaged them all!

Yeap, they are worth 'something' - most wanted item in the game.

But only the max damage ones. I found _three_ sickles yesterday, but none was max damage.

i get more than 10 sickles a day

but all below 20 damage, only npc will buy em :P

Sickles are fairly common drops, actually. I've seen them drop from Charr in Ascalon, and I believe even in Kryta, off of those Ettins. However, max damage Sickles (it appears) do not exist, or if they do they're amazingly rare. As far as I know, there are likely only a few ways you could ever get a max damage Sickle:

The chest you get for winning Hall of Heroes seems to be able to drop anything in the game. Therefore theoretically it probably can drop gold max Sickles as well, although I've never heard of it actually doing so.

Fissure of Woe chests have the most expensive keys in the game. I'm hoping and praying that means it also drops the best stuff in the game (including gold max sickles! *drool*). If that's true, then it's possible that after enough Fissure chest runs, a gold max Sickle just might drop. Maybe.

I just said that I've seen Charr REGULARLY drop SIckles (just not max or gold), right? Well, there's a quest called, "The Last Day Dawns". It's chock full of lvl 24 Charr. Now I'm not sure since I've never actually seen those lvl 24 Charr drop anything, but theoretically IF Charr drop Sickles with regularity, I think it's reasonable that a lvl 24 Charr should be able to drop max damage Sickles, right?

Apparently, the lvl 18 Ettin boss outside of Beetletun can drop max Sickles, this rumor stems from the fact that Ettins themselves also regularly drop Sickles, just not max ones. If that's the case, I don't know, nobody I know of ever farms that boss since it's really not worth it. Still, it's an interesting theory.

As is probably obvious by now, getting max damage Sickles is no easy task. It either involves tons of farming, or else winning more times in the Hall of Heroes than is probably possible for any individual, unless said individual is the Guild Leader of a top-10 guild or something.

As for the question to why Sickles are so valuable: check out it's skin! It's really tight, with the dual Crescent blades, and everything, it's one of the prettiest-looking axes in Guild Wars. When people say Sickles are rare, they're totally lying: Sickles are very common. Serpent Axes, Crystalline Swords, those are truly rare skins, but Sickles are very common. What ISN'T common, and indeed is said to be impossible, is the MAX DAMAGE Sickle, since Sickles only seem to drop in low-level areas. Rumor has it that a 6-27 damage Sickle sells for nearly a million gp ... that gives you some indication as to how far someone will go to acquire such an axe.

I had the same thought.. no luck from the Charr Lords so far. They seem to have the Raven Staff "I've Been Nerfed" drops.

I'd be interesting in any sickle sightings even if they're low damage.

Seems like there is always someone saying they got two from griffons but I think they must be thinking of a different flavor of axe..

i have decimated the level 24 charr lords countless times, for other reasons. not once have they ever dropped a max sickle.

on a side note, it's said that if you see a monster wielding a particular weapon, the chances of them dropping it are higher. the deldrimor dwarves (the good ones that you help) always wield sickles. if there was a way to betray them and slaughter them...

Arg! What level were the Krytans in the holiday quest.. did they drop items? Those punks are ALWAYS wandering around with and umber weapon. Shoulda been farming them!
