Power goes to your Head
Aegeroth
im new here and i think this is the right place to say it.
Today i was going to farm with a friend of mine in the Footprint. He bought along one of his friends from Fishmongers (previous GotW). *editted out* of *editted out* is a tighta**. *editted out*, if your reading, just because my guild doesnt have a rank, you arent suddenly superior to me or anyone of the guilds below your league. Just because im not fast enough at re-skilling all my skills and attribs from helping friends that doesnt mean you can call me and my guild "the sh*test and noobiest guild/player ever".
This message goes to all players who think that just because they have something betetr than the person next to them that they are special and have the rights to put that person down.

Amen brother, agree 100%.

vinegrower
posting people IGN's and ranting about a personal matter is a good way to get yourself banned from these forums.
Aegeroth
sorry i editted out the names, but i dont want to edit out the "ranting".
Malangyar
I don't see it as a personal matter. He *uses* a personal matter as an example for his general statement that people shouldn't feel special/upper class just because they're in a high ranking guild.
Or maybe I missed something...

Not sure if theres any discussion value in this thread.
If its just a rant, might get closed soon or fast if it becomes a flame fest should your "friend" you mention decide to reponse.

I dont want it to come to that.
There isnt any reason this should become a flame fest.
There is no arguement to what i said.
And if "he" wants to talk to me about it, he can do so in private.
And there may be no discussion value, but i hope its a valuble thing to remember for our "special" friends.
However if anyone has anything pro-anti-class difference im sure no one would mind.

Sure it's not nice of them to act like that, but your rhetoric doesn't make it unjustified or deny them the the right.
Malangyar
What? You're saying that because they have a substantially higher rank, they have the right to behave like, for lack of a better word, noobs in front of others? Maybe it's time for a revolution...

Avarre
Anyone has the right to behave like that, whether it will be taken seriously is an entirely different matter...
Song Rui
they arent acting like noobs. Its called being 'elitist'.
cataphract
Avarre, are you *you* saying that people have to take abuse from those "substiantially higher ranked" players?
Song Rui
ya. cause theyre elitist.

I'm amazed. I really can't believe that some people think players in a guild with higher rank have a *right* to abuse other players. I mean wtf?

Khanoute
Seriously, you shouldn't even pay attention to what someone from *that* particular guild says. Being good at screenshotting other guilds' matches in order to get skill pins doesn't really make you any better at farming SF *rolleyes*
Ranking is easier to get than respect.

Having a higher rank may or may not mean your better than someone else. It may mean you spend waaayyy to much time in front of the PC or it maybe that your a gifted games person. Either way it is NO excuse for treating someone else with this sort of distain.
You see this sort of thing in just about any sport or event where there is any sort of rating or rewards system but that does not mean it's right. In fact it's plain wrong.
If your better than someone else why not try to help them out rather than put them down.
Don't just act like a bully and abuse them because they are not quite up to you standard.
One day you WILL meet someone better / more accomplished than you and I'm sure you'll want tips or help rather than abuse.
For goodness sake PLAY NICE, there is no excuse for bad behavior, it's just uncalled for and nasty.

Well every game have people that are not nice and others that are nice. A member from fish gvged for my friend's guild and their rating is under 900. I see people calling each other noobs all of the time, maybe because this guy is from fish you feel that he look down upon you.

There is a difference between having the right, and being right. Please take the time to consider which is applicable here.

So.. uhm... you're saying "higer ranked players" are *right* when abusing those who aren't?
Or what are you saying?
Or what are you saying?

Despite the fact that the guy from Fishmongers IS a better player than you, and that his guild IS better than yours because of its rank, there are people who talk like that wherever you go. He at least had some evidence to back it up, there are many people who claim they are the best and are simply just all talk. If he's from Fish, then obviously is a good player, and as PvE is easier than PvP, he's probably good at SF as well.

I'm not saying they're right or wrong. They can do as they wish.
Personally, I find it funny to pick on stupid people or people who pride in using cookie cutters.

Just because they've been playing the game for +6 more months than you, doesn't mean they have the right to insult you.
fenix
True, but I didn't see the guys name who was from Fish. It's possible it was one of those ebay pve noobs (or just pvers with too much money) who pay to get into top ranked guilds. If it WAS one of Fish's PvPers, then it's safe to assume they at least know how to play

High rank does not make one a better, or even good, (PvE) player. That was true a year ago, and is even more true today after all those lame fame farming builds that people played for hours on end. kthx
Chris Blackstar
Their are always one or two bad apples in a bunch. Remember a high ranked guild did not just get their because of one or two players, it was a team effort, and not everyone in the guild alway partisapates in guild tornaments. I would serously doubt that this player was a player who is active in his guild when it comes to GvG tornaments given his atittude, he is probably just a member that supports his guild mates. However if not, then that shows just what kind of guild they are, and they maybe high ranked, but will never make it to the pro's as good sportmanship is a criteria in which pro guilds are judge. It's in the rules.

THOUGH if we're talking about arrogant behavior and whatnot, which ANet can hardly start punishing without banning most of the gamers, they can get away with it, yes. Still it is MY PERSONAL OPINION (Apparently this has to be cut out in obsidian. You would think it was only logical...) that people should not have a right to behave like fools just because they have a higher rank.

LightningHell
While the behaviour of the person from [Fish] is in question, there is no argument that you should listen to him, in logic, since the knowledge he would provide would only benefit you. He's also allowed to yell at you, but that doesn't mean it's socially accepted behaviour.
It is a fact that they are superior to you in PvP, for sure. PvP players usually know PvE well enough, although not always, and many PvP strategies also apply very well to PvE. Listen to him, and phrase out the bad bits.
By the way, did you retort (?grammar?)?
Fame = nothing.

Actually, that's untrue. It's a fact that PvE isn't hard. Everyone knows that, you can finish Prophecies and Factions with henchmen. I was simply saying that because it's not difficult, the Fish guy would have been able to do the run easily. It's a rarity to see high ranked GvG teams nowdays without 15k armor, or at least SOME PvE gear. This means that they must have played PvE at least once, so they aren't going to play stupidly or anything.
In your case, the team dying to the Crushers is your fault, as you should have informed them about what they do (you being the best PvEr, as you stated).
Firstly, the thread was discussing Fishmongers, who are high ranked in GvG. Last time I checked, you can't get fame from GvG. Secondly, as Fish play Balanced builds, then yes, they would be good at PvE, because you would carry similar logic over to PvE in terms of making a build. Yes people who farm fame play the same build over and over, and possibly aren't as good at PvE as others, but this thread is discussing Fish, who don't farm fame. Check facts next time plx?

I'll try to sum it up in:
There's no refuting the fact that they're more experienced and superior in the game than you. However, that being an excuse for bad behaviour is another matter entirely.
