It is pretty funny when they even try to speak some english (barely

) and try to call me names and stuff...

The alternative is just run whith them....I usualy get whith me Distortion for hard rezes, SO it is a breeze to rush trought 2 or 3 axtaxess...

The problem is that when we actualy make past them...the monk will simply leave ;D

The best way to stop the UW scam and other scams is for Anet to change the drop assignment. If you don't pick it up no one gets it! It should stay assigned to the person it dropped for. That would put a stop to the farmer/scammers for good.

I still use my tats because I've had 'em for forever. Hell, I have TWO pairs of tats (15k black and 1.5k) and 15k judges, 2.8m (so low

but I stopped playing for ~6mo), and 23 ectos, 16 shards, and 30k in the bank. And that's just my monk, I've got a deleted ele that had 2 sets of 15k, 2 necros in 15k (one for me, one for my brother), a warrior in 15k, and a mesmer in 15k and partial fow. :P Each character has atleast on sup vigor, and the warrior got his sup absorb back when they were at the cash cap. :P Definately not a noob monk here

It's funny whenever I'm in ToA's and you get the scammer random invite from a mo/w. Sometime's I'll party with them and of course they try to get ya killed but little do they know im already geared up to solo uw myself as a necro

.

It's funny when they run off after the first chamber is cleared and I follow them, let them get a bunch of smites together then kill the scammer monk with a smite hex spike from the smites

Makes me roll out my chair. Payback sucks and you know they gotta be mad that the necro killed him in the end after repeated failed attempts. I had one go back and get the 2 aatxe and bring them back into smite area while we had aggrod everything in the first area. The monk caught a few maelstorms and died and I finished the run after killing off the cows and coldfires he tried to kill me with.

About the tatoo comment I made earlier.

Many good honest farmers use tats. Many good honest farmers do not.

ALL sweatshop farming monks use tats. I have yet to meet one who does not.

I'm not saying I reject a group invite from a guy wearing tats, I'm just saying I'm less nervious about running into a scammer when he's not (because like I said, every single sweatshop farmer will care about efficeintcy and profit, not how cool their character looks).

And all the people who are on the defensive, THAT IS WHY YOU FIT INTO CATAGORY C

Jesus christ. Go to Drok's international district and look at all the sweatshop farmers wearing the exact same thing. They wear tats and its a good identifier.

heres some tips:

advertise for a 55 monk that speaks english, and has spellbreaker.

watch him as he enchants up, at the beginning. if you see zealots fire, grab the quest, and lead everything to him.....let him die.

carry distortion on your bar. it will save your ass, when an ecto drops for you, and the 55 bot tries to break aggro, and get you killed. [also helps with legit 55 monk, if you need to rez them when smites are all over you]

and yes, the "hiding behind the ghost dude trick" still works.....use it.

but please note that there are always good players and bad players... just that those who try to scam usually spread out alot more to maximise their profit...

Erm, not really.

My SS Necro can farm Hydras and Trolls and Ettins all day long.

Just seconday monk, use the 55 monk build with SS and Suffering (or another of your choice).

i guess i shoulda said. if they cast SOJ instead of SB along with zealots.

it's funny, usually the english speaking 55 leaches are the worst 55's, they can't even stay alive for a few seconds. i've yet encountered any that apologize though

casting vital blessing on them can have hilarious results. symbiosis is another good one, but they can run out of range. maybe the dervish skill list will provide something to counter the 600 spirit bonds =)

I used to love going into the UW in balanced parties but the 55 leachers and quest taking griefers took their toll on me and I only go in with trapper parties now.
There are a couple of things you can do to try and ensure the monks in your mixed party are not 55's, firstly make sure they have your attention in chat and then ask them to ping their health and if they don't repond pretty quickly then kick them. Also ask to take a look at thier armor.
I know neither method is exactly bulletproof as armor can be changed etc, but it's at least something and it helped me filter out a few bad guys.

This isn't true. Most scammers are fluent English speakers. I know what you mean, though, I've seen quite a few Asians who try to scam, but they are usually quite distinguished in that they have no respect (also common among English scammer).

In fact, some of the nicest, most generous people I have met ingame were Mandarin Chinese.

Try to understand their attitude before you go with them. If they think they are god's gift to mankind they are probably dumb enough to scam you. If they are unreasoning, avoid some subjects about pay, or just act shifty in general, run for it.

anyway on topic... remember there are companies that sell gold via the internet like ebay etc. and who do u think collects the gold? Asian people in about 99% of the cases. Dont get me wrong i hold nothing against them but u can see why it is more common among the Asian farmers.

I have to stick up for the 55 monks here...I once got an Asian 55 monk on my SS (I try not to discriminate) and we went in. He was using SoJ and Zealot's Fire, but I thought nothing of it, figured he probably took it straight from a website or didn't know any better. But we went through the Aatxes no problem, he was extremely fast, intelligent (we did our best to communicate, I didn't know Chinese, he knew very little English), and we ended up doing ~10 runs together, probably the best runs I'd ever done.

So I guess when it comes to Asian 55 monks, bigger risk, bigger reward

Yep, this guy was Mandarain Chinese as well...he gave my a nice plagueborn shield after we were done too o_O

The fact that they said they spoke english, but wouldn't answer any questions about their builds should have told you right away that something was off.
