Should I buy Guild Wars?

Hi everyone

I put this question here as it looked the most appropriate area to do so. (If I'm wrong let me know)

Basically what i wanted to do here was to let you know of my interests and have you guys tell me if you think i would like this game.

After installing the 14 day trial of WoW, I was disappointed to find that my laptop simply couldnt quite keep up with it. I mean i could play yeah but as soon as i went any where near a crowded city, it lagged like hell. However, im REALLY into the awesome environment, and most importantly the idea of partying up with like 30 or 40 people to do some huge hard quest (instances).

I suppose those are my two main needs, will this game cover me?

The max in Guild Wars is generally 8. (Some exceptions apply.)

Are you thinking of WoW?

The parties here are only 8 man big,you wont be able to go with huge parties here,i doubt the raids are as big as in WoW to,theres a reason this game aint got no fee..so i doubt this is the right spot for you.

If youre comp cant handle WoW though i suggest simply upgrading the thing.

There aren't raids in Guild Wars, just 'complex' missions.

I wouldn't advise you to buy GW just because your PC can't handle WOW.
Don't get me wrong, GW is a good game and I love it, but obviously you have your mind set on WOW. GW is a different game and you'll just end up comparing the two all the time and feeling dissapointed because you aren't playing WOW.
You are better upgrading your PC so you can play the game you really want to play.

QFT. Comparing GW to WoW is like comparing Doom to Minesweeper since you hunt something in both of them.

The two games are completely different, pretty much the only thing they have in common is that they are fantasy games you play online. GW is not a replacement for or a WoW-light.

try that game out...its still in beta (which means free) and is similar to WoW as far as everything is server side...its got its bugs but is fun...IF u can run that game then there should be no problem running GW.. But like someone else said if u are looking for the HUGE parties/raids etc GW isn't for u

I loved the environments in WoW, And I love them in GW. The big difference (othere than visual style) is that GW isn't a true MMORPG so you don't get to bump into random players (other than your party) while adventuring. Only in towns. With is a good & bad thing.
The Max party in GW(Factions) is 12 in Elite areas. But the Combat in GW blows WoW away. There is so much more strategy involved, the combat is faster, more exciting and more skill based than uber-item based.

Guild wars needs to release a 14 day trial (one thats ALWAYS on sale) like WoW has.. charge for it i dont care.

But forcing someone to buy the game before they know if they like it is kind of rediculous.
