Confused :S

Ok, a few weekends ago, i was ettling down to play guild wars, opened the game client and had to download 6,000 files, so i patiently waited and found that all that was for a nightfall login screen, pissed off i contented myself knowing i could play uninterupted, then when i log in, oh look my characters have standard armour and i have to download every place again, is this some nightfall trial? (oh and btw i tried to play prophecies if that makes any difference.)
I hate it when they DO do trials, they cant just leave it, anyway, there were no announcements or anything so i've come here, any of you know what it is?

Erm.. there have been announcements everywhere they could be expected to be. On the official site, fansites and on the news window before you sign in.

There was a beta this weekend, yes, but the problems you describe happened two weeks ago when the first beta files came online (the armours being reset and the login screen changing). No updates were made for Tyria, so the only downloading you'd have to do was the first town you entered. The armours only looked different before they had fully loaded, meaning the second time you came to the login (or if you waited half a minute) they'd look normal.

If you want to download everything at once, do an -image download before you start playing, that'll allow you to play uninterrupted.

Well apart from the official GW site being plastered with info and pictures about it, various other gaming sites and magazines runing articles about it and numerous threads on the matter you're right there were no announcements about it.
