I'm not sure, but I think it happened during the Nightfall event when you could change your profession I think the option for getting rid of the profession was an option. I might be wrong.

Yup, it was when people took off their secondary during the Nightfall Preview Event. Now that it's off they won't be able to get it back until the desert . Alternativly, they could just not have taken a secondary.

When the event ended, I was farming as an E/Mo, but when I wasn't farming I was rocking E20. I heard some people who dropped their secondary during the got screwed for a few hours after the event ended in that they couldn't change their secondary proffession at all.

though for tyrian characters (not sure for cantha) you can just skip the 2ndary profession quest, so you can end up with only 1 profession...

i've long noticed a L3 monk at droks way back...

but yeh this incidence is due to nightfall...

That may have been the case a long time ago, but you may no longer leave the PreSearing area without a second profession.
