The creation of a haiku is an ancient and venerated art form in Japan, where careful consideration is given to the sounds of the words, the imagery, even the look of the calligrophy of the Japanese pictograms, all of it coming together to produce a thing of beauty, and hopefully, of truth.
Predictably, western civilization missed the point entirely and focused only on the 3 line, 5-7-5 syllable form, and proceeded to produce fart jokes labeled "haikus."
I'd like to celebrate our glorious buffoonery, by instituting the Haiku Seppaku (seppaku = ritual suicide) thread, where guru folk can post their own delicate flowers of creativity.
The rules:
1. Three lines
2. First line 5 syllables, second line 7 syllables, third line 5 syllables.
3. Topic should be Guild Wars related.
I'll get us started:

Faces brand my weary eyes
Stumbling through the mists

The first relates a warrior/poet's first journey through the Underworld.
The second tells of Old Ascalon through the eyes of a survivor of the Searing.
The third is my attempt to write as Glint.
As a point of reference, seppaku may also be spelled "seppuku," and there are both honorable and dishonorable forms of this ritual suicide. The dishonorable form was used as a form of capital punishment for disgraced samurai, including ronin who overstepped their bounds. Just a toss-up for those interested.
