Vera farming (advice needed)

I've been solo farming and hench farming jayne forestlight for quite some time now, and I still haven't gotten him/her to drop the hammer yet. Is there a trick to this? Or is there a way I can tell it has the hammer before engaging? I'm sitting here, and have like 3 jayne's staves now, and I'm getting frustrated. Do I have to watch the TV series "Firefly" in order to know how to get the Vera weapon? I don't get it.

If I remember correctly, you'll have to get drunk and then marry a mysterious girl... Jayne will be more than willing to trade Vera for her... 
Other than that, keep at it. The henchies are probably wondering what to do with the 3 Veras they have and still wanting to get their hands on the staff.

After eight hours and two Jayne's Staves later, I just bought it. They're cheaper than ever now. I thought I got a good deal for 50K when it was still going for 60-90K. Now, it's like 35-45K. (Unless you're looking to resell it, of course.)

OMG, I finally, FINALLY, got it... on maybe about the 80th run or so it finally dropped. Holy crap, I'm so happy now, I can finally go to sleep. I guess it just takes a lot of patience, and persistance... Went on one more solo run, after just about giving up hope, and there it dropped. Ahhhh.

Congrats on the Vera.
There are no ways to tell or make a green item drop more often.
Some people say that if the boss is holding the weapon he has a higher chance of dropping it but I dont believe this..

First time while capping I got jayne staff's with a full group of henchies. Second time while capping at the boss behind jayne I got the staff again. Third time solo-ing jayne I got vera.
I was about to report myself for loot hacking before I remembered this is the first time in my GW career I've gotten good drops.

It's very true..try getting Drago's Flatbow(non-vamp) when he isn't wielding it, he won't drop it if he isn't wielding it. Same with most bosses <_<

If you have an Assassin you can use the A/E Shadow Form + Sliver Armor build to kill him pretty fast. I've got 1 Vera and 2 Jayne's Staff so far..

This used to be somewhat true. They changed it for Factions bosses though so that they always are wielding it.
It was never 100% accurate anyway, alot of times Greens would drop when they weren't equipped by bosses and vice versa.

For the A/E shadow form build..
It rarely targets Jayne, and when it does, it's common that you get KD'd from Brambles.
I'd still give it a whirl though, if you have luck on your side

If you take a War/Mes you can pull him out of his giant mob of friends, you just have to yo yo them and hit Jayne with a longbow shot when they start retreating. Do all passive dmg and he dies fast. If you try to hit him though with melee etc he heals like a fiend.
You can try the assasin thing but it wont last past a 20 second engagement. If he doesn't die you're hosed. He's a monk so I expect it wouldn't be easy.
The only build that can regularly solo him is under lock and key until the gal who helped me make it figures out how to use it *Laughs*. I've gotten 4 Vera's, 12 Jayne Staffs, 6 Scar Eaters, 3 Dream Haunters, an Ironclaw and 4 Shatterstones. Can farm damn near anything. 29 different greens at current count.

Same with me tryed with assasin but silver armor never targets him. There is not much enemys there to kill him eather.
I killed him once but was close of dying. No green...
