External Hard drives/ power converters

I was wondering if anyone new of any good moderately priced external hard drives. Right now, I'm running guild wars and guild wars factions off of my gateway 500s series from 2001. I've updated my ram and my video card, the games run fine but, i was thinking about getting a hard drive to run it faster and store my games and photos on that as opposed to my computer, which I'll need to update soon.

Also, I'm moving from the US to England and have shipped my entire computer over. It will need to be converted to UK power. Was wondering what kind of process this would be to convert it.

Just purchase a PSU here in the UK, They range from £20 for a 450 Watt Cheap-o, to anything around £150 for a 700Watt low noise all singing all dancing..

Thanks for the advise. After I do this, will I just need to switch my power cords out to the UK version, assuming that the new PSU is at the new wattage?

If you buy a new PSU, it might well come with a new power cord anyway, but otherwise, yes - you'll need one of our wonderful 3-pin plug cables. They're extremely cheap though, but something to be aware of. Before you do that though, have a look at your current PSU. I'm not aware of how they're put together over there, but here in the UK a sizeable number have voltage switches built in, allowing you to select input voltage (110/230) in which happy case, all you'd need is a new power cable.

Ahh yes, I"m coming from Colorado, so the wet weather might be a bit baffling! I will check my PCU once I get there to see if it has the switch, yeah they make them with switches here, as well. Thanks for the info, now I'm gonna have to see if I want to switch to the European server, since I won't get to UW in the early evening anymore!

Don't need to change the PSU, simply change the little red switch on the back. Read your manuals for details.

As far as external hard drives go, Seagates are nice and run around $80 USD for USB2.0 and up to 250GB.

Definitely suggest a Seagate, I use it for backups/reformats and the like and it hasn't let me down yet. For an external hard drive it is definitely the way to go.
