Campfire shouldn't be labelled PVE

People use the single-profession sub-forums under Campfire to talk about builds and strategy for both PVP and PVE. Nothing wrong with that, but it is misleading to label the Campfire "PVE builds and discussion" because that just isn't how it is being used. Maybe call it "Profession builds and discussion".

The Campfire is for PvE builds. The Gladiator's Arena is for PvP builds. If there are PvP builds within The Campfire then they need to be moved to their appropriate section in Gladiator's Arena. I'll speak to the moderator's about this.

When posting a solid PvP build you need to have taken into account synergy between characters and skills, generally you can't just take a character and plug it into any build.

This website's own rules tell you to post PVP builds in the single profession forums! I quote the "Build Directory Submission Rules":

1] Create a new thread for your build in the respective profession subforum using the template given below. This will serve as a place for discussing the build.
2] Post the build and a link to its thread in the "Build Directory Submissions" sticky in that same subforum. This notifies us that you would like the build considered for the Build Directory.
For example, I would like to submit a Mo/Me Signet build for the Build Directory. I would go to the Monk subforum since it is the primary profession and make a thread in it with the build. I would then make a post in the "Monk Build Directory Submissions" sticky in the same subforum with the build along with a link to its thread, where discussion will be done.

Althought each build will be reviewed and either approved or rejected, it would help us a lot of we didn't clutter the stickies too much. Before you submit a build, please consider its quality. Only submit builds that you have playtested and found successful; please don't submit every single build you think of and post on GWG.
However, this by no means implies that you cannot post experimental or concept builds in the profession subforums for critique and help. You should only post in the Build Directory Submissions stickies if you want to submit the build for the Build Directory.

Also, the Build Directory Submissions stickies shall remain free of discussion. All discussions of the builds posted here should be done in their respective threads.

Build Template
Profession: [primary/secondary]
Name: [name of the build]
Type: [PvE/CompetitivePvP/GeneralPvP/8v8/Gvg]?
Category: [Spiker/Nuker/Tank/Damage/Support/Interrupt/etc]
Attributes" [These should be done in a "base + runes + hat" format.]
Skills Set [Place them in any order you like. Place {Elite} next to the Elite Skill and the linked attribute in (parentheses). If you want, you can provide two skill sets, one for PvP and one for PvE.]
[Summary: Explain the purpose and goal of the build, along with a thorough guide to how this build can be run effectively. This must be done with good grammar and spelling, although I will edit the stuff you miss.]
Notes & Concerns: [Explain any notes or concerns you have with the build, whether it be weaknesses, timing issues, or warnings.]
Credit:* [Who would you like credited? Yourself? Your guild? Both?]

*In most cases, the person who submits the build will receive credit not for the build but for the summary that follows. This helps in dealing with people "stealing" others' builds. and those aforementioned others complaining about it.
In rare cases of unique builds, the person who submits the build will receive full credit for the build and summary. This decision will be made by mods and aided by long-time players and even beta-testers. If the moderators try to force people to talk only about PVE in the profession subforums, they'll drive everyone crazy. About half of the conversations there are PVP and nobody seems to mind. A forum to discuss both aspects of each profession seems to be what people want, because that is how they are using it, in spite of how it is labeled. This isn't one or two people ignoring the rules - this is pretty much the common understanding of everyone who uses those boards. And it seems just fine.

The Campfire is for PvE discussion and builds, Gladiator's Arena is for PvP discussion and builds. And I'm sure I can find many people who would disagree with some of those statements Riverside Inn is a dumping ground for many people as it's the largest forum and daily we move 5-10 threads a day into the appropriate section. Just because some of the forum members don't place a thread in the correct section doesn't mean that the labels should be disregarded. We have them seperated as they are for a reason.

Eh, as long as the mods don't start policing the single-profession forums, there probably isn't much harm.

The few PvP builds that pop up in the Campfire discussions are generally geared towards RA, AB's, etc, and really doesn't have a place in the PvP forums, because, as JR said, PvP is a team sport and is geared towards team interaction rather than the efforts of any single build. Character specific "basics" are easy to pick up in the team build discussion, and when the answer is not exactly obvious the PvP community readily answers well thought out questions about class specifics.

Only thing I think needs to be changed about the campfire, is that the Stickies at the top need to be condensed and purged.

The reason for the campfire is back in the old beta days log in screen as all char were gathered around a campfire. This was what happened to them after the searing being PvE.
