1) Its broke and it’s why NO players are playing there so Anet please fix it (I don't know why it’s so unpopular I just want to finish the defogging the map)

2) Open Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood PVP areas so people can finish their explore titles like have an explorer weekend event + unlock inside of the controlled towns while freezing the faction degen & take over of the towns.

Do you realize that saying "its broke" does not help?

So basically you want ANET to change the whole game so YOU will get your title more easilly. Sadly, highest tiers of titles are not meant to be easy to get.

If you want to propose something for the Quarry, great, but be constructive please.

A constructive idea could be (this is just an example): make the factions earnt in the Quarry and Aspenwood "floating", depending on the number of competitors: you'd earn something like up to 25% factions in the emptier area, and up to 25% less in the other area, adjusted by the difference of population.

This is a constructive idea I think, whether it's good or not. Whining for his title is not.

Give the player's a choice:

1. Enter Jade Quarry or Fort Aspenwood PvP "mission".

2. Enter Jade Quarry or Fort Aspenwood "Explorable Area" through a portal.

Satisfy everyone.

The reason Jade Quarry is empty as opposed to Ft Aspenwood is that it just isn't a lot of fun. It really needs to be redesigned. As it is now the layout and objectives don't go well with randomly formed teams. One way to redesign is to make Quarry the opposite of Aspenwood. Turn it into a Kurzick assault of the quarry and the Luxons have to defend. Obviously it would need to be fleshed out more but it could be salvaged.

The few times I was able to play on Quarry (because that's the only times there was enough people there to play) I enjoyed it way more than Aspenwood.

Simple and cost effective fix: make Quarry Faction rewards equal to the Faction rewards of Alliance Battles. This would instantly bring Quarry from "totally dead" to "bursting with life".

Yea just increase the faction it gives. During the double faction event, there was a bunch of people playing in it.

1. The reason why Jade Quarry is empty - and this is coming from someone who has played in this arena since the FPE and has constantly played JQ for the entire duration of FPE - Is because it's an even playing field. The big flaw in Aspenwood and the Luxon's ability to complete that area in minutes is what deterrs them from JQ. During the FPE, there were more Luxons than Kurzicks, the reason is because JQ is more challenging and faster paced for Luxons.

2. It is more difficult to get to JQ on the Kurzick side than it is on the Luxon side, and because people travel to Aspenwood first, they just settle there and over time, JQ loses interest.

There's nothing wrong with JQ, but these are factors the lie outside of the arena itself, that make it so unpopular.

I know my guild mostly avoids those areas because we can't play together there. Random groups seems a little odd for a game called guild wars.

Random groups are absolutely essential for these arenas. Organized teams would utterly destroy Aspenwood into a "boring, only certain builds work" type of area. The variety of builds you see in Aspenwood is astounding (outside of the skill less wonders who bring touchers or shadow form). Besides I think the idea behind Aspenwood and Quarry were to have more casual PVP experiences where one could go and quickly get into a match without having to take an hour to form a team and set skills.

As far as the balance difference between the two areas and the faction rewards, those are good points. Actually its probably a combination of many different factors that contributes to the Quarry being all but abandoned.

Quoted for truth, and surprised this hasn't been taken into account yet by the developers. It's depressing to see JQ so empty, and FA runs the risk of getting old if everybody plays there.

I think the easiest solution for explorers should be to have an option to explore it by talking to the NPC that gives informations about the mission.

There is a possibility to get Grandmaster Explorer without entering the mission. Replay two mission cinematics and hug all walls in 4 cities

*This* is why my alliance stopped playing here (and for months, we dominated the area and were responsible for actually *getting* people to play here some nights) There are people who enjoy this area, but a good 25-50% of the people entering are babies who want their cartography title and think its ok to screw everyone else by running around and not being helpful (crying, "dont kill me, i just want to map").

And honestly, this area is no more difficult to get to than it is on the Luxon side. Once you complete the quest to retrieve the art supplies, there is *nothing* to fight all the way north to the Quarry.

Anet will NOT change the mechanics of the game to suit one person whining about it. it is easy to get the title and many people have gotten the title without this problem

Also you all seem to have forgotten about the Leechers/Bots/AFK`s that really gets up your nose and make you never want to go back there, our guild and alliances, total of approx 250 all refuse to play this area as a direct result of these people, a simple solution, stop this and the areas will again become a happy hunting ground. i posted my thoughts on this on another thread about leeching, but will do so again here and I dont care if its not for here. this really needs to be fixed.

1) Upon entry no points are awarded, none are now nor can be
2) Upon Start of play you have 5 to 10 seconds to enter the/a portal or go past a certain point or no points/experience/factions are awarded until you do so, i think 5 seconds is ample
3) Upon Death and up to Resurection all points/experience/factions are awarded as they are currently, even for Leechers/Bots/AFK`s, if you die you get rewarded
Upon resurection at any shrine that is not available to the opposition you have 5 to seconds to enter the/a portal or go past a certain point
4) If you where slow to load in and start late, bad luck, no Points until you go past those points, you didn`t help get them to dont get rewarded for them.

If you are a BOT you will soon become recognisable and easily reported,if you set your BOT up to go -past these points then you will become available for killing like the rest, if you go AFK and die, when you resurect in a shine outside of enemy availability, you get no points. If you get resurected in a point that is available to the opposition and you are AFK, good luck to you, its still better than what is currently happening at the moment.

I have a big grip with the current system mainly because someone can currently set up a BOT on PvP/PvE character and will eventually get Legendary Survivors title Survivors with no risk at all for PvP and the only risk for PvE is getting there in the first place, if they have risk of death they will soon leave and have to earn the title like the rest of us.

ok please stop flaming the OP for trying to get his title. it is basically impossible to get grandmaster without Jade quarry. my suggestion is that you find the forum on here that gets groups together specifically for exploring JQ.

also having it as an explorable area would be a great idea, or having henchmen placed in the empty team spots after a few minutes of waiting.

I tend to agree with the OP. I'd like to see an "open house" weekend event to explore JQ.

After spending an hour trying to get into the glitched area for 0.4% of the map I felt I'd accomplished something... of course, I still have 3.2% of the map to find.

I'm not a complainer and I don't want to make it rediculously easy (just finished spending two weeks locating the last .2% of Nightfall I needed for the GmC title)... I just hope I'm not down to .2% again on Factions looking at JQ's unexplored area knowing that's all I'd need.

(Edit: Assuming Factions is the same as Prophecies and Nightfall... there is some leeway in all the Grandmaster Cartographer titles). I know of at least two spots in Nightfall I haven't been to but still got GmC there. It's probably POSSIBLE to get GmC (as seen above) without Jade Quarry... we're only looking at .5% of the map from what I hear... but it's going to take the entire rest of the map - every last little nook and cranny. I like to play with the margin or error and would rahter use that .5% toward the title than worry I've didn't stand in one spot long enough for the map to register a hit.)

I've got it... it's perfect...

A weekend quest event centered on... get this...

Gwen! Remember those Tapestry Shreds we all got with no idea what to do with them? You'll need one of those to enter the event from the Kurzic side. What's that... you started in Factions and think it's unfair that Prophecies people can get in but you can't. Well suck it up, chucko... in the beginning of Factions there'll be a broken flute (Gwen's favorite toy), you'll use that to enter from the Luxon side.

The quest: Find her ghost in Jade Quarry, deliver her item to her so she'll remember you, she'll follow you (as she always did) across the map to the other side where you'll reuinite her with her (dead) mother. Across the way you stop at historical points and be forced to watch stupid (recycled) cut-scenes from the searing... yes, I'd like to see new ones but I'm trying to make it as easy on aNet as possible - they can just re-edit the searing scenes from Prophecies.

Two problems solved! Getting into JQ for mapping - done. Finding a use for that tapestry - done. Getting to see that annoying chick's ghost - priceless.

The reason beceause JC is empty, is beceause it's empty. Once at least 16 players add up in this spot. People will hear of it becoming populated and will check it out themselves. We just have to break a circle to accomplish that.

there has been suggestions to make both areas explorable, it seems this is the easiest solution as well. Anet would just have to toss in several mobs to make it interesting and maybe some new bosses (new greens hint hint) other wise i dont see any of us getting 100% for cantha.

only problem is she isnt dead. you can find "preserved red iris flower" in nightfall. Though more evidence of her being there could lead into game 4. Maybe she will be a Hero with what ever new proff is in store for us.

besides i liked gwen. anyone that heals me for a flower now and again is fine by me.

I my self spent 4 hrs recruting 15 other player to fight on both sides of the quary, by the end of the match i only got .4 of the .6% on that part of the map. then after layering my map with a 100% map completed by tc fish i got the 100% title. i hit every single spot in the game besides the .2. So it can be done just takes a day if you can learn how to layer your maps.

from what i remember you do get faction points in that pvp area.

It's not impossible:

Just kinda hard. I had to get the final 0.3% from the boardwalk when the games re-opened in that event last weekend.

I slove this, I think that there should be a single weekend where all rewards from only Jade Quarry are quadrupled. Just something simple. A weekend a few months after that would be quadrupled Fort Aspenwood.

Anti AFK code would probably be a good idea. Anyone caught botting would be banned, so it's all good.

I've gotta search for that!

I guess I figured she'd died since she was outside town when The Searing happened. Weren't too many non-dead things left outside Ascalon afterwards.

Okay then... take Gwen's non-dead self across Jade Quarry to reuinite her with her long-lost pet spider Charlotte (or whatever the spider NPC in War Camp's name was).

I'm just throwing stuff out there in the hopes that someone from aNet will happen by, go... "Hey, now there's an idea." and put someone to work on it.

You get just as much faction in the Quarry as you do in Fort Aspenwood. As for the OP complaining about not being any weekends for exploration, I remember being at a few of them so there are exploration weekends. It was actually pretty fun and I liked the even battlefield. I wish Anet would just somehow draw attention to it, maybe they could close down Fort Aspenwood for "repairs" and make the Jade Quarry incredibly accessible (maybe even to people who don't own factions, just to get them talking). Or we just need to get a few guilds to start going there a lot and telling other people that it's populating. Just throwing a couple ideas out.

my chars from tyria n ive explored everywhere apart from jade quarry n ive scraped the walls of all but 3 n a 1/4 of all the exploreable areas n got 99.2%, i got a team in fortaspenwood (we didnt have any bots, leaves, leachers ect) i got to map it n my side still won n i got an extra 0.7%, y this isnt the same for JQ i dont know as aspenwood seemed really unfair for the kurzicks
