Dissapointed in Anet over FA not being fixed
JoeKnowMo
There are several suggestions that people have already made about fixing leechers in Fort Aspenwood? Let's review the list:
1. Make entering it the same as Alliance Battles. You team up with 3 other players and only then can you enter the mission. *Edit* However, once inside the battle, your party consists of all 8 members.
2. Players get kicked from the game if they have 2 minutes or more of inactivity.
3. Players need to talk to an NPC when the battle is over to collect their faction.
4. Players can /vote-kick a leecher.
Of all these, option 1 is the easiest to implement and probably makes the most sense. There would still be some randomness involved in team formation as the other team of 4 players would be random. Also, as evidenced by AB team formation, most players just want to get into battle rather than sit around waiting for a monk or whatever build they're looking for. Most of all, known leechers who have been leeching for several months now would not be able to ruin the game for the rest of us.
No action on the part of Anet is extremely aggravating to those who play FA when the solution is an easy one.
This issue will not go away by turning a blind eye towards it. Nightfall is around the corner and many of us are looking forward to bringing Paragons and Dervishes (or using the new skills for all classes) to FA. However, the experience is ruined when there are leechers in the majority of games. Even more aggravating is the fact that it is the same leechers over and over again. It's pretty safe to say that if we had to form teams of 4, these players would not get invited or accepted to a group, thus taking care of the leeching problem and bringing the fun back to FA.
The only solution to leechers now is to leave everytime you see one in your group. However, this becomes an annoyance to your teammates. Most of the time, both sides, Luxon and Kurzick have leechers. If one side leaves because of leechers, the other will likely stay even if they have leechers because they can earn easy faction. So the leechers on the team that stays still get rewarded. Due to the server restrictions on the maximum number of FA battles at any time, the battle that we leave will probably last a long time (esp. if the Luxon team leaves) thus lengthening the time to get into another battle.
I beg of you, Anet. Spend a little time on your customers and make this fix. Forming teams of 4 also takes care of a couple other problems that have been occurring in FA. Players from the other faction will join (a Lux will join on Kurz side or vice versa) and then quit. Or these players will purposely try to sabotage their team by leaving gates open (if they're a lux on kurz team) or they bring along spirits like spirit of symbiosis (if they're kurz on lux team) to help out bonders. I've actually had to take a spirit killing spell (spirit to flesh) because of teammates doing the latter. I've even been in guilds (which I prompty left) where the members bragged about engaging in such sabotage.
So please, please, please, please, please Anet. Make us form teams for FA which will take care of this leeching issue that has plagued it forever.

Is this some kind of rant versus the Random Factor of FA?
Actually "allow 4 players" is in no way fixing the problem. How so? It is however changing the complete nature of FA which is something i don't agree on. It won't be FA anymore, it will be yet another Cookie Cutter Build War.
Option 2 would be the option to go for PVP Instances.

no, its against the people who join and just stand there, getting free faction for others' work.
called "leechers"
Sir Mad
Err I REALLY doubt everybody would like to see 1/ and 4/ implanted.
1/ would completely change what FA/JQ are: that would be turning RA into TA. And 4/ could be too easilly abused, especially with 1/ - players kicking another player just because they don't like him.

#3 ftw!

Specifically for FA 4 is best. 3 solves nothing, the leechers are there, they just choose not to do anything. Obviously they need to click Enter Battle for the next round of leeching so talking to a NPC is little trouble for them. 2 could cause many problems if it somehow went wrong. 1 takes away some of the spirit of the mission, i.e. the randomness (which to me is part of the fun). The merits and flaws of vote kicking have been discussed many times, but I think it's the way to go SPECIFICALLY for FA.
Navaros
#2 and #3 would indeed solve nothing and #4 is a terrible idea because any vote-kick system in Guild Wars would be horribly abused.
#1 would work although the tradeoff is that it then becomes a pain the butt to start a battle just as AB is a pain in the butt because of that. It may be a worthy tradeoff to get rid of the leechers, though.

Hyper Cutter
#1 would make it a lot harder for most (honest) people to get in, though...

It may slow down progress, but if people want a fair battle, this is the best solution i've heard.
Winterclaw
They didn't stop rushers in droknars, so why should they fix this? If someone is leeching /resign and start over. Also leeching can affect both sides so it is fair at least.

I like the option to kick people from FA. Maybe even extend it to other missions with leechers there or people who are generally detrimential to the group effort (like traitors)
Lordhelmos
option #5 call in the enforcer (see my concept thread)
luauelveneno
option 4 /notsigned it will be abused like your worst nightmare....
hubin_at
I am also against #1 for the reasons Amity and Truth mentioned. In addition, you will not have a complete overview over the group, just as in Alliance Battles. Skills targeting the whole team will also become less useless.
I pick #2 and after that #3.

I like #3, mainly as it looks simple and so is more likely to be done.
For me FA is one of the few highlight of Factions, I've wasted so much time there. It'll be a shame for A.Net to spoil it by not doing anything about the leechers.
The worst thing is the rage quitting that it promotes. Heck I joyfully rage quitted once when one of the leechers decided to play for a change. Idiot. "Oh hey guys I think I'll play after leeching for the past 200 odd games. Please don't rage quit."
Even though Gaile has said it won't be changed in the interests of having a game that doesn't promote negative emotions in people, yeah a fix would be nice.

Option # 5: Someone from Anet, peeks in on FA a few times a day. Seriously, it would only take a few days before they realize that there are leechers who have been doing this for months on end now. I mean, come on, you don't have an intern you can put on this case who could make a list of people who leech for 5 or 10 matches straight? Complaining through the NCSoft site has had no effect. It's a shame to let one of the two best things about factions (the other being ABs) be turned into such a negative experience.
Take a stand, Anet. Put somebody to work on this for a few days. Within a week, you would have cleared out most of the leechers. If you don't have an intern to spare, I'm sure someone from the gwg community will volunteer and do it for free. Show that you care, Alex, Gaile, and everybody else. Do something, for heaven's sake!!!!!!

Fort Aspenwood is something which will satisfy your random need of action. This kind of maps keep GW interesting for long time. Don't let it rot away by swarming leeches!

The moment Nightfall comes out and the bots find new ways to farm $$$ nice and easily, the FA leeching will slow right down.
JoeKnowMo
Option # 6: I'd like to see the scrub... oops, I mean, the scribe take a trip to FA and make note of the amount of leeching going on there and get the habitual offenders banned.
I'm sure I'll think of an option # 7 after a few more battles where I'm annoyed by more leechers ;P

Last night, during one FA battle, there were 7 leechers on the Kurz side, prompting the only active player to immediately leave. Leeching is becoming more of a problem as time goes on.
People don't use bots to leech. So the leechers won't move on to botting in Nightfall. Instead, as more find out about this problem and the fact that there have been no bans, they will also try to leech. It's easy as clicking on the Enter Mission button every 15 mins or so.
Option # 1 would remove some spontaneity, but people want to get on with games just like in ABs, so it wouldn't affect it much. I heard that Anet may be contemplating something... hope it's not just a rumor.

I won't state their full names, but players named Zip & Culex have been faction farming Fort Aspenwood (Kurzick) for over 2 weeks. Every day I pay a visit to FA, I take screenshots & provide well documented evidence of their leeching. Yet today, I sign on, and lose 3 battles because of the dead weight from Zip. 1-3 leechers at a time, almost a given.
The idea that each time I win a battle despite them, they get 300g worth of amber (after some bad math), is kind of annoying.
Definitely want to see Arenanet step up and do something about this. I have a great respect for Arenanet's game design & the implementation they've put into work, but if we let some bad apples ruin the barrel, then that's just no good. If we can just get a handful of the chronic leechers (the all-day, every-day leechers) out of the way, that'd go a long way.

As more ppl realize that nothing is being done to leechers, more will jump on the bandwagon. It's a great way to get faction (for amber/jade), as well as experience, and balth faction to unlock skills. As much as I hate the leechers, i can't blame them for taking advantage of a loophole that Anet should have taken care of by now.
That the constant leechers proly have all skills unlocked and have money from amber/jade sales is a shame.
