When Prophenchies was released at the end of April 2005, there was NO EVENTS AT ALL except halloween and wintersday or I really did miss something. Now there is minor events every weekend and some players complain that they are not special enough? You prefer to have no events at all? Then just ignore them. Simple. It is free after all.

Then we have the big holiday events- Halloween, Winter Festival, Day of the Tengu, and the Dragon Festival. Decorated towns, party hats, souvineer items, the works. I think the difference is fairly obvious, and it's kind of unfair to compare the two

I really hope it's the in-game message that's in error and not the website. If the event affects Tyria I'll probably do some SF runs with guildmates to get weapons for my Heroes, if not then I probably won't do any farming. Though I could always give that Kaolin Water Staff another go...
I know it's futile, but I still hope that ANet will someday do a Tyria-only event to make up for all the Cantha-only stuff they've been doing. Ah well, I guess in 24 days Factions will fall by the wayside anyways, and we'll have "Elona-only" events for six months.

I detect large profits from Kaolins on the horizon... Shame this event had to come exactly 24hours AFTER i bought a Kaolin Blade because the boss wouldn't drop.
They don't need to... people will play Prophecies regardless. Factions is so short and so shite in comparison they need to do something to keep people in it. Beyond the fact that i can make more solo farming Canthan bosses theres nothing keeping me in Cantha (well maybe the fact i still need Prot titles on most my chars).
That would actually be a good event. Even though you can guarantee its gonna be double exp/gold/tradables/faction(?) but at least it would make people play the game.

I've lost count of the number of factions bosses I've killed but it must be into the 000's by now, and the total number of greens I've got is 3 I think. I've got the same number of greens in ONE SF run that I have EVER got in cantha.
The 2x xp for caping skills was for BOTH tyira AND cantha. So why should'nt this be the same.
The weekends will very likey stop once Nightfall comes out. At least for a while

I must say I like these little events better than the big ones. The big ones always made me feel like 'why didn't they spend all that time and effort on something we really want like an auction house or a barber'. These events give me the impression they might be busy on stuff that matters more and they kinda make you do all kinds of different stuff every weekend. You don't have to farm all crazy but I did decide to cap 4 elites since I had nothing better to do anyway. These little events kinda make GW feel more dynamic because stuff is different every weekend, whereas the big events just add a lot of out of place graphics and lots of junk items you never use afterwards twice a year. So keep it up 
Maybe I'll buy some greens when they're cheaper and indirectly enjoy the weekend after all It doesn't change the way I play but it's a nice extra.

This game is so completely full of narcissists. You all paid $50 or less several hundreds of hours of play time ago and then bitch when Anet tosses in something for free that was never promised to you when you bought the game.
It's a good thing so many people play the game because I've been able to guild with a small group of people who play the game for fun and don't complain all the time.

Any sales information would be released through NCSoft. Latest report showed that Guild Wars was a good percentage of their revenue stream through much of the second quarter and the only game that saw large increases in sales (this is based on yahoo finance articles). And these earnings reports have always looked at the entire Guild Wars franchise, not just a specific chapter. I still don't see where you came up with your information to base your conclusion on. Mind posting a link?

Aww, well, hopefully, when it rolls around I can meet my quota. 10 Ghail's Staves, 6 Ssyn's Staves, and 3 Rajazan's Fervors. 10 Ghail's Staves will get me 200k-250k, which will give me 303k-350k, Fervors are for my casters, 5 ssyn's staves are for the auctions, 1 for my new rit. Hopefully I can meet this quota within the 3 days that the green event takes place. I love my 55 monk and touch ranger

In lieu of the previously announced special weekend, we've decided to postpone the "Green Drop Weekend" until next week. This week's big news is the conversion of Heroes' Ascent into a 6v6 map. Yes, one of the most popular events will become a permanent element of the PvP game, along with a lot of exciting map changes, too. yay! I will be home next weekend, and this weekend out of town....I dont pvp so I am happy they moved the green one----though really do wish they would fix the bugs instead of making more weekends......
Maybe now I will get a green besides daggers (I have no assassin character so I dont need any more daggers----have gotten 3 sets of kaolins so far, would like maybe a monk or ele green instead.....).....

Um, having only seen a few gold weapons and NO green weapons in the entire time I've been playing, this reeeally doesn't affect me.....
Though speaking in terms of principle, it is unfair to make it Cantha-only.
Screw trying to push interest on Factions (regardless of sales figures), ANet shouldn't screw over people who didn't want to shell out $50 just to get an expansion pack that has met with (apparently) mixed reviews.

Just want to point out that doubling drop rate, while having farming rate increase greatly, actually might lead to much lower drops for individual farmers.
Seen it happen in the double rare drops in Elite Mission weekend, gold drops were actually fewer per run coz so many more pple were doing it.

however! i would not complain one bit if they increased sorrow's furnace greens rate as well. totem axe are still easy to get, no reason to double/increase that

Thats all it is , anet making the market in the old game worthless so people need to buy nightfall to be able to make money from selling weapons again.

Wow! Must perfect my stormray farming technique before this weekend! It's the only one I want. But I sense my brother's going to take me out Kaolin staff farming this weekend.
Give is up Tozen. Only way you can stand out from the masses with your gear is if you come up with a really unique armour combo and a really unique dye hue.
