Epic Quests.
Mistress Mindbender
I think it would be a lot of fun if Anet added an epic weapon quest to PVE. This would be a long, extremely difficult quest, involving all 3 chapters, with a wide variety of tasks and trials to complete. In the end the reward would be a tolken that would be used to purchase a custom weapon at a custom weapon crafter, similar to the cape guy.
The crafter would let you design a req 8 weapon, you chose the damage type, inherit mod, attribute req, and upgrades depending on the type of weapon. After that you can choose a skin from a variety of existing and unique options. Choose a particle effect, colors, and size. When the weapon is to your liking craft it, the cost would be your tolken. The weapon would of course be customized to you, so no trading.
No part of the quest would require gold or riches of any kind... all would require skill, organization, and teamwork.

Knightsaber Sith
That would be kinda cool, but I think the problem would arise from it spanning the three campaigns. Although it would be fun, it would probablly hear too many complaints from people that only have one campaign.

Basically agree with Knightsaber Sith
Addone_Abaddon
/signed, except for the 3 chapter thing, maybe quests that take you to every single zone/region in the continent.
Puddingbroodje
/signed, except for the 3 chapter idea...
there should be a similar quest with an special armor..

Agreed on everything besides particle effect unless you can turn it off, I already have issues with GW and video lag...

Epic quest would be fun and put a challenge in the game. I think it should be a mix of both solo / group work though, so you don’t have runners / people paying for it ETC… Also my own opinion I would like just an indicator that you finished the epic quest rather then a weapon. (I see to many people selling amulet of the mist) Maybe a Hero Title or something along that line. Name turns special color in outposts and towns for status and your name has Hero imposed in front of it.

They could create several Epic quests.
1. For owners of Prophecies and Factions. Easy (with regards to the Epic difficulty meter).
2. For owners of Prophecies and Nightfall. Easy.
3. For owners of Factions and Nightfall. Easy.
4. For owners of Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. Medium.
This way owners of all 3 campaigns would be rewarded with the most Epic Quests, four of them!
The rewards would also have to be scaled. Probably like the end game items of Factions, but I really like the idea that your name changes color or you could have a title track for this as well.
They would have to be truly Epic quests for a title track though.

Although i don't like the name, Epic, i'm WoWofob
some of these might work:
http://thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=epic
heroic, champion, saga, masterful, ect.

Winterclaw
Make it for one campaign only and maybe it'd work out.
And if possible, make it for armor as well.

I love the idea of a craftable weapon to suit you, to be unique. I'm pretty bored of Fellblades and Crystallines etc' (even though Crys's are rare, I've seen a lot lately and they aren't as special as the price tag thinks). Also, the quests would be excellent:

Also it would be nice to be a quest like this one for an armor (different goals off course, one for each piece).
It would be also nice to see this quests 1 time ONLY, whitch means that you can only have 1 of those per charracter and off course, customized

I would however be cool with having the same concept for each chapter, each with their own specific weapons. For example, the Prophecies one would allow you to craft Butterfly Sword, Forked Sword, Flamberge, etc. where the Factions reward could include Golden Phoenix, Gothic, Celestial, etc.

I've seen similar epic weapon quests implemented accross several campaigns in other MMORPG's like EQ. There were usually several sub quests involved, gradually evolving your base class epic weapon from a normal one to an exceptional model with all sorts of eye-candy. These quests were NEVER easy, usually involving many hours of camping and occasionally 30+ man raids to bring down 1 epic boss. There was a real sense of accomplishment in getting certain epic weapons, since it usually took months of active game play to earn one.
The main problem with this set-up is that GW's equipment system really doesn't support truely "epic" weapons or gear. GW weapons usually have 1 prefix, 1-2 inherent mods, and 1 suffix. Earning any such epic weapons would also throw any sort of game balance out the window. Unfortunately, GW caters more to structured tactical combat with hard-fixed weapon stats and limitations.. It does not really cater towards the "Beowulf" model of epic heros or weapons. WoW is more suited for that style of RPG.
I'd love to see epic weapons enter GW, but I don't think GW's designers will be willing to break their set weapon molds asside from skins and other eye-candy.

The name needs to encompass all 3 chapters. Something like "The Saga of The Lost God". Abbadon plays a big role in Nightfall. From what I got from the preview he's been banished for a while or at least his followers have had to go underground. The quest could entail gathering info on Abbadon, fighting some of his followers/minions, and possibly obtaining a magical artifact that will aid you in destroying him. To make things interesting the artifact wouldn't be necessary to reach Abbadon but if you didn't get it physical attack wouldn't work on him*. This quest would have to be at least medium difficulty but with minimal grinding and no locked gates.
* I got the idea from FFIX. You couldn't hit Ozma with attacks without going through a lengthy and darn hard quest. Good times though.

as long as the token is customized to you as well. I cant stand to see these things overfarmed and see the token sold. I only agree if the person that did the quest gets the weapon and cant sell the token.

I would love to have a Scaled-Down Fellblade with a glow effect and the Zodiac Style skin... or maybe just a Grey Zodiac sword without the jewels...

/signed: I really like the idea of several cross-continet quests. Obviously the weapons crafted will be epic only in the looks.
It would be cool if they had a different color from green/gold/purple and took the name from the character who are crafted for.

The idea reminds me of the special Winterday (I think?) multiple-part quests - obtaining termites from a little pier on the beach near the Ascalon Settlement, fighting on the Watchtower Coast, some strange mud farmer near Temple of the Ages. That wasn't exactly "epic", but it was, on a smaller scale, the same sort of idea.
