So, you can take your PvP chars to Comp Missions. How come they are still empty?

I really think that problems with FA and JQ are the one sidedness of them.

Whoever is the attacking force usually has an incredibly unfair advantage. During the first Double Faction weekend, I took my B/P ranger in on the Luxon side because I wanted to build up Jade for when my Ele got there for his 15K.

My build included, Barrage, Pin Down, Favorable Winds (which helped in something I'll explain later), My Pet with Comfort, Troll and Poisoness Bite.

And what would I do in this mission? Storm the fort? Hell no. Usually me and one other guy would stay out side and run back and forth between the Purple and Orange amber mines. Killing the NPCs, and the players who tried to take the mines back. Pin Down would slow down Amber runners long enough to be killed. Then when the Mines were taken, I'd lay down a Favorable Winds for the Luxon Ranger NPC's that would pop up. Instantly making them strong enough to hold their own for awhile incase I didnt get back in time.

Me and some other guy (Usually an MM worked best) would hold both mines until finally the Kurzicks had been pushed so far into the gate that it was pointless to stay out there. Our other duty was simpy to resend the Turtles every time they'd reload.

It only takes two Luxons to hold the entire outside area.

Not having played the Jade Quarry much, I cant say if the same thing is true for the Kurzicks there. But I do remember playing on the Kurzick side and never losing.

Maybe they do not have factions? After all you need factions to play there.

Since when? I've gone and played as Kurzick, with Kurzick faction, on the Luxon side.

I'm fairly sure that he meant that one must possess a copy of Guild Wars: Factions to play.

Why don't I play those missions?

In less than 5 minutes I can earn 1250 faction in an alliance battle, but even if I lose I still get at least 500 on average.

On the other hand, the competative missions award 750 experience for winning a 15 minute game, and only about 180 or so on average if you lose.

Obvious choice for me lol!

There are several reasons why i think theyve failed:

1. Less Faction than AB for the same work.

This is the biggest issue of all and needs to be fixed pronto.

2. Player Bias and Access differences.

Its a snap to get to aspenwood and the quarry from the luxon side, but it is much harder on the kurzick side. I asked a dev about this during the beta and he said they were fixing it at the time, of course he was spouting crap. But its more than just getting to the area, when there is player biases at the small hours (which AN seems to think doesnt exist) there is nothing you can do about it in PvEvP or AB. However a possible reward of some kind could help, a faction boost or something on slow times for that side perhaps. Something to get people moving there.

3. Teams.

Random teams are fine for some things but when you want to play with your mates PvEvP missions simply dont allow that, at least not with risk. Allowing the 1-4 team like before they messed up AB would help greatly.

poeple might know but if you are in a serious FF guild then you will be FFing and Abing half the time. battles like fort aspenwood just arent worth it any mroe becuase in the time you do 1 battle in fort of jade you can do about 5 FF runs.

Fort Aspenwood can be a lot of fun, or it can be a terrible drag. I've been on teams that had 3 leechers plus 1 leaver, meaning it was 4 v 8.

Almost every Kurzick team has a leecher. I haven't played the Luxon side that often, but the Kurzick side is at a disadvantage already, nevermind being short 2 players cause they're leechbots.

Also, if they don't have a healer og any sort, they can't heal the NPCs, which will result in early.

..and those NPC healers there are just terrible.. not even close to "bad" in terms of skill level.

Not even close, the two are on such different scales. To even have resemblence the kurzick's and luxons would each need about 100 more men on each side.

False! Jade Quarry is a perfectly symmetrical map.

1. Alliance battles are a bit more organized and provide more faction in a quicker timeframe.

2. Fort Aspenwood is incredibly fun (IMO), but the leechers, etal put a real drag on probably 50% of contests.

3. Jade Quarry is just plain boring when you can have a much better experience in Alliance Battles using the same concept (capturing shrines, etc.).

I alternate between Kurzick and Luxon sides in Aspenwood, and I have to say that neither side is really dominating. A decent bonder on the Kurzick side will usually push the Kurzicks to victory, while an anti-bonder build on the Luxon side will usually be the difference for a Luxon win. Generally the two don't meet, and you see one side dominating the other (which is usually the side I'm on... ).

Fort Aspenwood is one of the best things in GW. Too bad it is a bit unfair and leeches are often spoiling the fun. The idea itself is wonderful. More this kind of PvP places, please.

Fort Aspenwood has a ton of potential as an organized gametype. There are a lot of possibilities that open up when you're not just limited to meeting the other team head-on and smashing their face in.

It's also a lot of fun when you get a decent team (one or two healers, no leechers, players who aren't retarded).

I've done quite a bit Aspenwood lately with my various characters and I tend to agree that the worst problem is - once again - the community. Leechers? You bet! Ragequitters? Naturally! Just plain jerks and idiots? Why, of course!

It's very rare that you get into a team that listens, communicates and plans things out. Once you do, Aspenwood is loads of fun. If the other team is good as well, you can have very epic and memorable battles, where the tide swifts and you can really enjoy the fight.

Even so, the rewards would need a boost. Compared to AB and time spent, Aspenwood is a joke. (Especially Kurzick side) But there's also a downside - if they boost the rewards and keep random teams, chances are that there will be even more leechers.

I actually Love playing FA on the Kurzick side (even tho im luxon)..

I dont personally find it gets boring at all, I can play them just as repetativly as AvA..

As has been said though, the frustration is the AFK'ers which ANET have made it quite clear, plain and simple.. they WONT do ANYTHING about it.

They should make it two teams of 4 at least to add some competativeness to them.

As we move to Nightfall this will get more and more "swept under the carpet" by ANET.

A crying shame.

I've played Aspenwood quite a bit but not AB yet. By the sounds of it, I'm missing out big time... whoooooops But as some other posters have said, when Aspenwood gets good teams on either side (like... 1 in 20 games maybe), then it's great. But it is a lot of hard work for not much reward, speaking as a Kurzick. Losing at the last second only gives ~120 faction, while winning gives 650. AB sounds... much better.
