Event Idea: Armor Weekend

Duality Of The Dragon

I had a fun idea. Now ANet has the theme of doing head gear. So I thought i'd evolve the notion a bit.

Over the weekend period an event could be available where you do special quests to collect 'Quartz Shards' and exchange them for special event 'Gemstone Armor'. Kind of like the dragon festival.

The armor would have no armor level. Basically it would be for pure aesetics. As for appearance like the dragon masks it would one shape fits all sort of thing. Though the appearance would change depending on gender of character.

Edit: Any constructive criticism on how to improve this idea are welcomed. And I put emphasis on 'constructive criticism'.

Holiday armor rather than just masks has been suggested several times.

Masks are a good solution for the holidays because they aren't much work (art-wise) to make. One-size fits all works for the heads because the heads don't differ much one to the next. The armor, on the other hand, is far more intensive because of the different proportions of the different classes. It would be as much work to make 8 completely different looking sets of armor as it would be to make 1 set fit all 8 classes. It's just not feasible for a weekend event (even a holiday event).

Just make a big 'ol Panda suit that everydone can wear while they are about to DP out another guild. 1 size fits all with that.

Can't see it happening. Armors are a pain to design and implement for every class. It has to work with every animation and emote. Just look at all the threads whining from people who notice two pixels not perfectly aligned like it's a game breaking flaw.

It is a great idea, but sadly it doesn't look as if it would be practical... and it would fill up another four or five precious inventory slots!
