Interesting question for anyone with extensive networking knowledge.
Would it be possible for me to maintain my current IP, even if I left the country? I have fairly solid computer skills and believe that it would be impossible, but I would like to know for sure.....
IE, if I leave New Hampshire and go to Pakistan (or Spain....) how on earth would it be possible for me to still show the same IP belonging to my service provider in New Hampshire.
Thanks for any insight beyond my knowledge. At this point I believe it to be impossible, hoping someone can prove me wrong.
Question about displayed IPs, and how IPs work

you could setup a proxy server for yourself and log in from overseas and use your IP from your home... The problem is your leaving your Computer on here and hoping nothing turns it off... Thats the only way I know of. Why would it matter though? Just curious?

I am an admin on several forums, and one member is claiming to be able to purchase items for other members while he is "on vacation in Taiwan". He is asking for the other members to paypal him the funds in advance and he will mail their items upon his return to the states.
The IP he shows on the forum has not changed, even though he has supposedly been in Taiwan for several days. It still shows his home provider and IP when he posts, and I'm trying to verify feasibility before pulling the plug on his sales thread.
Thanks for the insight Ingram.

One easy way would be to set up a vpn to the local provider and then browse the internet via the vpn. The ip from overseas would not be added back to the packet until it was being returned via the tunnel. However, another way would be to have an account say with cox communications. Then just access it from say Japan via a web browser it would show a local ip. Or if you leave your computer on and use remore desktop it would be like being here and show the same ip.
Normally though if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck, it is probably a duck.
