Says it's coneecting but doesn't

I'm new here and don't have a lot of data on my problem because my dad built my computer and I have no idea about my computer.

Anyways, I always have problems with idiot wireless internet but that's normal. But for a few months when I try to log onto GW, it just says 'connecting' but I come back 5-10mins later and it still says connecting. I know It's never an issue of computer speed, I have a pretty fast computer and I think 56k internet.

I have already tried using 'add or remove programs' and reinstalling the game, and it supposedly does, which takes literally 10seconds, but I try to log on again and it doesn't work. Also I have been lately totally uninstalling the game and loading my Factions CD seeing as it's pointless to load my Prophecies one. It does get the game to work again, but it only works for a few days. and it takes hours to load the first map of one of my chars.
Try that and a whiny evil wireless internet that conks out every once in a while and you have frustration. I got so irritated that I stopped playing GW for a few weeks, but I tried again and installed it again.( I had been worrying myself senseless about whether I was deleted from my guild or not, and I wasn't)

If anyone else has these problems or know anything that might fix it for good please let me know. I badly don't want to be irritated by the best game I have. I have enough to be annoyed about, including the Zen Daijun mission that people keep leaving in. But I suppose All I really need is a Tyrian-born char. My main was prophecies and I got her to Cantha.

Well, I play on wireless connection as well and it tends to be ermmm laggy. What I would suggest doing is after installing your program make a shortcut on your desktop(if u are using windows) to make an update button. Best way to do that is to right-click on your GW Icon Click copy. Then Right click on desktop and Click paste. THEN right click on your new Icon click rename,,,rename it to GW Update or some such. Then Right click again on the new icon and go to properties and where it says target add -image after the quotation marks... should look something like this

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

THEN run that program sometime before you go to bed or when u have a few hours (depending on speed of connection) and let GW update completely. That way you won't be competeting with Anets streaming updates and try to play at the same time.

IF this doesn't work for you IE you are still unable to connect to GW then I would suggest talking to your ISP about your connection and see if they can help u or give you any info.
