Storn's Character art
Storn
Okay, I must confess that this is a character from a table top RPG, Legend of the 5 Rings. But she could fit into Factions juuuust fine. Cross polinization, pretty common in visual ideas!

It's nice. Reminds me of Mulan, though.

That big copyright notice means you can use the artwork, distribute the artwork as long as you don't make money from it. And I get credit. Creative Commons is really a wonderful thing. Check out the link.
Bascially, it is saying if anyone is making money from my work, my ideas... I should have a say.
OF course, if you CAN make money with it, and can cut me in... something could be definitely worked out. I"m a professional illustrator. I have to make money to pay the bills...
...and support my GW habit as, oh yes, Nightfall WILL be mine!! <g>.

How does one get started in the "getting paid for drawing cool stuff" industry? I like to draw, and I think I have some talent, I just don't know where I would go to cash in on that.

A Daidoji huh? Awesome.
Sorta curious why she is carrying a tetsubo though :P. (Jade sword ftw)
Not only can this character fit in I do believe some names like Shiba are also in GW:F
Side-Note:
Aren't the Daidoji suppose to dye thier hair white because of the original Daidoji (or Daidoji Uji)? Makes me think its more of a Hida
EDIT: Can't be a Hida they are all busy (according to googlism.com)
"hida is helping our members to understand how regulatory issues and market trends affect their customers".
Also:
hida is ©himself
ok enough for random comments :P

ok enough for random comments :P The patron had dictated to me that she was Crab, but raised by the Crane, hence the black hair.
And the jade tetsubo was a nod to her Crab heritage as well.
Not a typical Crane...

you're really good at drawing, one of the things I find hardest is to draw people in different positions and perspectives, but you seem to master this very well

This guy is from an Alternate England circa 1888, d20 campaign. The game sounds pretty interesting. I was thinking victorian stuff is kinda Kurzcik in a way, although the art direction there went a bit more gothic. This guy's m.o. is a "modern" ranger... modern meaning 1888! At least from the write up I got.

Start canvasing companies with portfolios. Its how I got started.
I also go to conventions and give out portfolios there, talk to art directors.
Simple, but hard. It is tough to develop a thick skin to criticism, yet take to heart what is being offered. I get sweaty palms, have trouble breathing, going up to A.D.s that I want to work for. But its got to be done.
I also went to art school, Columbus College of Art and Design. Best 3 and 1/2 years of improvement I have ever made. Although I was already freelancing prior to my enrollment. I went back to school late, I was 27 at the time... and that was a boon too, as my work ethic was so much better than I was 18 and had attended NYU.

I draw from GW for visual inspiration... but I'm paid to do other stuff. So, where I can combine paying work with GW inspiration, I'll show it. If someone pays me to do GW art, I would be more than happy to. But I have too many freebie projects on my desk as is.

What would you charge for a full-body, no background drawing of a GW characters, such as your examples?

NOW. For the fun stuff. A Legend of 5 Rings character concept commission. A Lion shugenja, who I was formely Phoenix, hence the fire fringe there.
Then a paladin from the Fortune and Glory game. Link to that world:

And a wizard from one of the story threads at Enworld. Complete with mutant hedgehog. Now that would be a fun pet for GW!!!!.

Big fantasy art dump
First up, been playing in a Burning Wheel fantasy game, all elves (as in the two PCs are elves). There is a recap link: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=306701
This is Jeff's PC, Prince Airen, heir to the White Citadel and the student to my character.
This is my character, Elabrin Tanis, a humble sword-singer, famous in a civil war and know younger race sympathizer. Who gets trapped into politics way beyond his ken.
Cham is a Black Rock villager. Cham is the human that Prince Airen tried to teach the Song of Bonding to...
Next is Alana, our fiery redheaded ax amazon who almost did in Elabrin Tanis first session. Thought she needed a picture. She kinda disappeared in this session after the fight between the Black Duchess and Prince Airen. However, her experiences at the Black Citadel court... it will be interesting to see how she filters that as she goes back to Ar-Tor to reclaim her small remaining tribe. I'm sure we will see her again.
Oops. Missed one. Can only do 4 images in one post. Here is the fifth.
And lastly, ah... what can I say. Savana, the Black Duchess herself. Elabrin fell right back in love with her, his swordmistress, teacher and mistress of his heart. And more... but I'll let Judd spin out the tale further before commenting. Such a flawed character, such a catalyst for disaster... she was really the engine that drove this session. I really darkened up her lines in Photoshop to reflect that Black thematic. I think I nailed her personality down in this pic, I'm really happy with this one.

Amazing sense of ratio and proportion! Your shading and crosshatching are absolutely brilliant as well. Depth, style, etc. Everything is simply smashing.
I admire every aspect of your art and I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future.
