Hi,

I got a problem I've never had before this week. Nearly every time I start GW, it says Repairing Data Archive and often takes 20-25 minutes to complete. It happened about five times this week, but never happened to me before.

Any idea what's causing this?

Wish I could give you an answer, but I'm experiencing the same phenomenon myself

Steps taken to correct:

1. Uninstalled GW Client, deleted folder, defragged Hard Drive, reinstalled (5 times now)
2. Updated my video drivers (nVidia 6800)

Still no joy ... this appears to be a semi-random occurence but incredibly annoying just the same.

Am running Windows XP SP2, using NTFS on the hard drive. Have sent both the GW Diagnostics Log as well as System Info log to NCSoft Tech Support with an exhaustive description of this problem and my efforts to correct it.

Will post back any & all responses I get ...

Ok, when I had this a while back, it bugged the hell out of me, as I couldnt find out what was wrong, but eventually it was down to me having a bad stick of ram, and once i replaced it, there was no problem again. I suggest you check your hardware as this can be an indication something is wrong.

These repairing data archive messages were common when I had one faulty memory module in my computer. Replaced it with new one and haven't got that message since. It happened last time about one year ago.

Some motherboards might be very sensitive about mixing different brand memory modules. Best compatibility can be reached by buying two or more identical memory modules if you have more than one.

i've had the same problem once. after it does the repair data archives part, it essentially redownloaded gw completely. my guild was really pissed, 'cause it took me 2 minutes to enter gvg matches - and i was playing the monk!

it turned out that my computer got hijacked by malware. it became so bad that i can no longer check my system performance using taskmanager: the graph was changed to about 0.5 cm wide. i couldn't even use my system restore disks, because apparently the malware changed my computer designation, so that it no longer matches the disks. since the computer was a refurbished system, it didn't come with a winXP CD (even though i have a licence for it), so i had to reformat and install my old win2k. works fine now.
