Starting a Petition

I am creating a petition for the Guild Wars Developers. Many have voiced their support and I look to you, the forum viewers, to voice yours.

We want to be able to use class runes other than our own on our armor. We feel this will bring further customization for our characters and new opportunities on the battlefield. For the sake of an example I shall use my character:

Takurami Seishin is an R/A and he wields Shiro's Blades. Now, Shiro's Blades requires a whopping 15 Dagger Mastery to be able to fully benefit from its power. But he cannot attach a Rune of Superior Dagger Mastery to his armor because his primary is Ranger. This is the problem many face and feel it is rather unnecessary.

I am collecting signatures from you, the players, so that Guild Wars Developers will take notice of our call for change. Thank you for your time.

Seriously, the game has the primary/secondary profession mechanic for a reason, ok?

There are daggers with the exact same stats as Shiro's Blades, complete with a nice, low req! Find some. If it's all about the skin, I say that's your own problem and stop being so vain. Either that, or make an A/R and problem solved.

Off to start my petition thread for Anet to give us 8 more skill slots, because 8 is not enough... /sarcasm

Pick up Chkkr's Pincers, which have the exact same stats except that they deal piercing instead of slashing damage... Oh, and they have a 9 Dagger Mastery requirement.

yeah this is a bad idea, then theres no point in having a Necro as an MM, u could have an ele MM instead with 15 death then, that makes no sense at all, if u just think about the logic of having second professions and why they dont let u use runes from professions other then ur own it makes alot of sense.

Wow I hadn't the slightest idea that the guild wars community could be this jerky. He had an idea that he threw out there. At the most giving the weapon suggestions or valid reasons why it isn't a good idea, but that much unnecessary rudeness is ridiculous. If you think about it the concept of using your secondary professions runes is not illogical. After all you can use teh skills and you can put max skill points into them. You wouldn't be able to put a rune in the primary ability anyways. So seriously get over yourselves and show a litlle common curtousy.

The real reason behind this petition is the guy want to be a wannabe scimitars dual-wielder ranger like Drizzt.

Not illogical? Maybe not illogical, but it's not necessary. At all. That's why you're allowed more than 1 character slot and can have a primary of any class. Do you not realize the full implication of what's being asked? Do you not realize how utterly imbalanced it would make some things? Anet would have to nerf things simply to allow people to put sup secondary runes on their armor when they don't even need to, because they already have plenty of character slots to have a primary with sup runes.

As for the rudeness, such is life. Not everybody's going to sit around and coddle people. It's worse in real life, if internet bothers you so much you're really going to have a hard time in the real world.

The reason for the hostile response from others is no surprise. Throwing out ideas is one thing but he is actually trying to make this a part of the game with this petition and if it were to happend I would quit playing. If you coudl use rune on your secondary there would be virtually no reason to choose one class over the other minus the apperance and inherent ability of that character. I see no problem what so ever with not being able to use ruins on your secondary esp sup runes.

You can petition all you want, but simply put, ANet is not going to do what a petition says if it unbalances the game or goes against their vision for the game, regardless of how many signatures are on it.

A better choice would have probably been to create a thread to discuss the subject (which this will probably turn into anyways) and discuss the pros and cons of it. If ANet reads the discussion and sees that it's a good idea, and sees that people are in favor of it, they might consider it. A flat-out petition with no real reasoning behind is not as likely to recieve much attention.

Both runes and primary attributes are key to the balance between the classes. Take one or both away and that balance will collapse.

And Shiro's Blades is a very bad example, especially since you could simply use a different green with the exact same stats except that they require 8 instead of 15. Problem solved.

There's a reason they're called "Primary" and "secondary" professions. If you want to get the max use out of daggers & assassin skills? Make a primary Assassin.

while I like the idea in that little fantasy work where I kill everything. As been stated, it's not a good thing balence wise.

HOWEVER. I think every single person who has flamed the OP should be ashamed, and re-examine their tolerance levels.

In addition, the example provided by the OP was probably just that. An example, but of course everyone pints it in the worst light possible. Yet another thing to be ashamed of.

I'm sure the mods will role in with the tanks any moment now.
