an E/N trying to handle monks healing.

I am currently an E/N, and am thinking for the future. I don't like my necromancer secondary class, and would like to replace it later with a ranger or (what I probably will do) a mesmer. I have had some real trouble lately taking on W/Monks. I don't expect to take a W/M, but I cant kill them even when they are at 20 health. I know how to play well, so I don't think my ability is the reason, but is there any reasonable way to counter a monks healing? I have no expirience with mesmer spells, but can spells like backfire make sure that anything with Monk in their class doesnt come back from the brink of death?

Yes, a mesmer would //definitely// bring down //any// spellcaster, even other mesmers. They are anti-mages basically. Yes backfire would probably kill the monk, becuase if he was about to die, he'd either cast a spell to heal, or if he doesn't do that, you can kill him with a spell of your own. Wa/Mos have simple weaknesses really.

With your necro secondary you have access some enchantment removal and anti casting spells that also cause damage. When a w/m throws up a enchant if you remove it, he'll be low on energy and hopefully you can kill him before he can get up another one, or a spell like mark of subversion could make him not want to heal or get hurt doing so. One elite blood spells it like a damaging version of back fire, but you probably don't want to sacrifice an elite... there's ways to kill them. Check out mark of subversion, soul leech, strip enchantment, rend enchantments and maybe linguring curse. Keep trying and good luck
